A great mix of Samurai/Western with a little Mad Max thrown in. Great action and thoroughly entertaining. A little too cheesy at the end (last scene), be warned...but not enough to ruin an otherwise well done story. The only other flaw was Mila Kunis' character was a little too "Paris Hilton" typecast. Not very realistic given the context of the film. But again, great effort and one I'd add to my permanent movie collection.

The Book of Eli is a great movie. Unfortunately it misses the "Perfect" designation due to a few minor flaws, but is so well put together that it ranks as one of the must-see movies for movie lovers. Acting is good, but the real star is the cinematography, production, directing, and music. All of this "behind the scenes" work creates an atmosphere that is scary, beautiful, and believable. Denzel Washington delivers a powerful performance. Gary Oldman, who apparently belongs to the Daniel Day Louis school of acting, is somewhat distracting due to his overacting but still plays the foil to Denzel's rightous character very well.

Great action and fight scenes, though pushing the violence and gore limits. The acting was excellent, including some deftly placed and executed humor scenes in an otherwise dark story. Theme of renewal and perpetuation of the human race is reminiscent of Terminator themes, but still makes for a fresh ending.

It's a low brow production about a blind guy with superman ninja/Bruce Lee powers taking the last bible in existence across the US through the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust to San Francisco- taking 30 years to do it. We both hated it and the wife was mad at me for taking her to a such a stupid movie with gratuitous violence. She hasn't spoken to me since... Oh well, I'll research the movie better next time

After seeing the "coming attractions" my expectations were not met. Sure I went to see a Denzel great movies - I've seen many of his wonderful works but he walked through the role & Mila was exceptional & he so-so. My expectations were too high & not met. Mila was as good (maybe better) than Denzel & Oldman.

First of all, Denzel is always awesome in his acting, so that was a given. The story has met with some controversy within the Christian world, and I can understand why. However, from an artists' perspective, I feel there was a positive message, with high importance of the Bible, which left you remembering the importance of faith and hope. It was a grim picture, but entertaining on all levels.

I like movies with a "life after doomsday" theme, and I've seen most of the more popular ones. This movie differs from all the rest in that it explores the element of spiritual and intellectual darkness that might follow a global disaster. And yes, it's a great action film and it also has a few laughs. If you liked "The Road Warrior" you'll love this one.

This was good action and good story line. A bit surprising, but good. Had enough action to keep action folks happy, though might be a bit violent for some. Interesting story line, which I liked and fight scenes were good and hard to believe Washington did his own. Very Good.

Denzel is one of our favorite actors. Mila's performance was also very solid. Though the beginning was quite dark and violent, we found the rest of the movie to flow very well. The cinematography and music was terrific. A definite recommend.

" This movie felt like a water-down version of "The Road"-which I felt was a brilliant film, and an excellent adaptation of the book. In fact the scenes in the movie were a direct rip-off of the Road. Danzel must have been falling behind on payments for one of his villas or country homes to take this script! Maybe it's me, but these post apocalyptic movies are pretty much 'played-out'! The only appeal this movie will have is to Pat Robinson, Christian fanatics or Bible worshipers".It was a wast of good popcorn and 30 hard-earned dollars! I want my money back for these cash-cows for over-paid actors!

Book of Eli is an excellent movie that take full advantage of the big screen. The sweeping landscape and feeling of desolation is enhanced by the screen size. Washington gives an excellent performance, on par with his academy award winning roles. The movie had considerably more emotional and intellectual depth then one would ever expect from an action movie. Make sure you go see this one.

I love Denzel Washington, and his performance in this movie did not disappoint. My husband and I took in a matinee with friends, and we all agreed that the movie worked for us. It was not your typical apocalypse movie, and I wouldn't take my grandsons to see it, but I would pay to see it again and I will definitely add it to my dvd collection when it debuts on dvd.

The previews for "The Book of Eli" were really action packed and had you on the edge of your seat expecting something intense. Unfortunately the actual movie "The Book of Eli" does not deliver.
The first hour of the movie is really good, lots of action, intrigue, Denzel displaying some serious Martial Arts skills. The second half of the movie left me scratching my head trying to put the pieces together. Imagine 30 years from now when all of the fighting with other countries and wars are over and there is nothing left of America as we know it, to survive you have to be some what of a bandit or belong to a band of thieves. There is one person who carries/holds the knowledge that can restore civilization, this is "The Book of Eli".

I wasn't totally sure by the previews what this movie was about, but by the end I was glad I didn't. I think Denzel was wonderful. My husband and I are not very spiritual, but we loved the message of this movie.

Book of Eli was both an incredible enjoying film to watch, and one of the most interesting films I've seen in the past several years. The content might be violent action, but the audiences I asked leaving the theater all both loved the film, and had a new kind of 'awareness' about them that was refreshing. The film gets its message across nicely.
