Not much creativity left in the gas tank over at Dreamworks on this one. Plotwise, it is really simple, the jokes are somewhat humorous, but it just seemed too contrived. Denis Leary sounded like he just didn't really want to be there. In the AMC theater I went to, the lamp in their digital projector is getting dim and probably needed replacing, so the 3D effect wasn't worth the extra bucks.

I went with my mom and I thought i was great!! It was so fun to watch and funny. Plus, the 3D actually made the movie look like it was happening right in front of me. It feels as if the Pixar-style animated movies are starting to get a bit old at this point. Either that or I've attended a few too many kid-friendly films lately and I just long to see real actors telling real stories. In any case, the voicings are good, the story draws you in, but it looks as if even the 12-and-under crowd is starting to see through the animation tricks. The appearance of Rudy, the movie's dino-villain, so fearsome that even a T-Rex stays out of its way, does not shock or scare, even in 3-D. A few toddlers cried, but they shouldn't have been there in the first place. Overall: Story-good, voices, good, concept-wearing thin. At least the length leaves time for dinner and the ride home...

My review of 'Ice Age: Dawn of the dinosaurs 3D' might be a little skewed because I was hoping to see it in 3D, but didn't. I give the movie five stars for artwork and creativity, but only three stars for story and dialog. If I closed my eyes, I could imagine that I was listening to 'Everybody Loves Ray'. Same jokes (bumbling father), same delivery. Still it was fun to watch and would be OK for kids.

Four of us went to Penn Cinema to see this movie; our ages--56, 32, 13, and 12--and we ALL loved it! Finally, finally, a movie billed as a family film that really WAS a family film. No one got eaten, no one died, no one needed to swear, no "uncomfortable" scenes, and beyond THAT, it was FUNNY! The animation was unbelievable and the story resulted in many smiling "Ahhhs" from the audience. Take the family--take a date--take yourself--it's worth it!

My entire family enjoyed it and I have told many other families that is a good movie. These days a lot of movies are not family oriented even when they say they are, but this was a great family movie!

First movie I've seen in 3D although I imagine it is just as good in 2D. Just a wonderful experience. anytime you have SCRAT in a movie its awesome.
