Anyone who has read the book will know that they have, for the most part, kept true to its words. The Movie keeps you on your seat and waiting for the next moment to occur. Aside from the jerky feeling of the camera technique during several moments of the movie, overall this was outstanding. Six months will be a long wait for those of us who want to see the Epic Conclusion. So much time, so little patience.

The actors have improved so much over the years. It's nice to see such a good change.
As for the movie itself, the minor changes made didn't deter from the story too much. You really got a good idea of just how serious this movie is when Hermione Obliviates her parents and all their pictures of her disappear. So profound, so moving.
I'm so glad they decided to divide this book into two movies. It really allowed them to focus on the details, which is awesome.

This movie was the best of all the Harry Potter movies. I definitely do not suggest children should go to this movie, but it is a continuation of his life.
After watching the movie my 21 year old brother who is not into Harry Potter movies, loved this movie and we both said to each other "I want to go back and see it again"...

BEST MOVIE EVER. So so so good. Must see. It cuts off at a good point too, leaving enough material to make the next movie good, but still showing enough to make this movie worthwhile.

The movie seemed very empty. From lacking major deatils from the book to sitting through 2 hours of movie for 30 minutes of excitment. Part 1 is bare-boned on details just to get you to see part 2. Depending on how part 2 turns out they probably could have just made this one movie and not wasted our money. Would only recommend this to people who havent read the books for the fact you will be missing part of the story but would recommend going and reading the book instead.

This one certainly did not disappoint, not that any other HP movie has! I can see how they had to split the last book into 2 movies, as there was so much going on, and all of the details are needed to make the story make sense. Great acting, action, effects! I was mesmerized the entire time!!! Definitely 5 stars!!!

Those glasses are seriously needed when I go fishing. If Weed gets legalized more people would go to this movie just for the special effects. Overall a bit drab but spunky towards the end. My saddest part was when creature died: he was man's best friend. I want to see Emma Watson nude and in my bed.

As a fan of the books, I was really pleased with the execution of this film. There were several really poignant scenes that truly showed how much these characters (and young actors) have grown, and brought the film to an entirely new level. Well worth the 2.5 hours!

I ditto the other reviews...this was another fantastic Harry Potter film, really showing the maturity and challenges for Harry, Ron, and Hermoine. I agree that there are a few parts that may be scary for younger kids, so take that into consideration for your children. However, this is a MUST SEE! I will be on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the final installment! Five stars, definitely!!!

Saw the new Harry Potter movie on 11/19/2010. IT ... WAS ... AWESOME. I wish they had done the last two movies as 2-parters, or at least in a longer format. I'm SO relieved that they decided not to cram this one into one shorter movie. Seriously, this was is WELL worth the money & (out of the later, darker films in the series) definitely the best so far!!! Heck ... it's the best in the entire series so far. (Though I confess a soft spot for the earlier, more "lighthearted" movies.) I'd give it ten thumbs up, but I lack sufficient appendages!!

While I understand how difficult the process has been to translate the Harry Potter books into movies, Deathly Hallows Part 1 comes the closest to representing its written counterpart. The movie continued our attachment to the Harry Potter universal in a more grown way, and took me on the emotional ride I was hoping for! Well done

Only for diehard Potter fans. Story format and special effects getting old...not worth seeing unless you breathe and die for Harry Potter. Perhaps the final one this summer in 3D will be worth watching for the 3D effects...but not sure that will be enough for story line about played out in this series in my opinion.

It was a long anticipated movie that fulfills much of the hype. For the true Harry Potter fan, seeing Harry, Ron & Hermione a bit older was a great progression. I also enjoyed that they incorporated many of their friends and family members so you weren't left wondering what happened to them. Much of Part I took place in the woods, (which I would think had to save a LOT on set design) but the focus was absolutely on the relationship between the 3 main characters, and the 'tables turned' nicely... and often enough. Some of the outcomes of the magical wars were predictable, but Voldemort's "pet" left people gripping their chairs and hurling their popcorn! It is not an "action packed" movie, but not once did I look to light up the time on my cell phone. The 2 hours 30 minutes run time flew by...and the power ending left me gasping for MORE! HURRY UP Part II.

Good movie, just like all the HP movies have been, full of suspense, and keeps you on edge with several "made you jump" moments. Very dark, though, needs the second part of the book to give at least a few moments of light, to keep us from leaving the theater completely depressed. Wish the next movie was being released sooner.

The special effects as always were amazing! Despite reading the book, there were some scenes that were unexpected but I'm glad they were there because otherwise the movie would have boring. There were a few very moving scenes and some funny ones as well. The movie ended at the perfect time and just about everyone left the theatre wondering about when the next part will be out. Out of all the HP movies, I would give this one "the best of them all."

This is the BEST Harry Potter movie so far. I will admit that I really disliked the other movies because they had to cut so much to make the story fit into 1 movie, but doing Deathly Hallows in 2 parts allows the movie to stick closely to the book. There a few small details missing that were disappointing to me (Dudley not shaking hands with Harry to say good-bye, Harry not giving Kreacher the locket...), but for the most part. There were other parts that were amazing (the 7 Harry Potters, breaking into the Ministry of Magic, the animated story of the Deathly Hallows). If you love the books, you'll love watching the movie. I am so excited for July. Finally a Harry Potter movie that actually sticks to the book!

The movie was as true to the storyline as any film can be given so much of the book's words must be translated visually. Extremely dark, intense, and quite scary for the young. Even I jumped at parts due to the fantastic visual effects and I knew what was coming, as I've read the novel. This should not disappoint any Harry Potter fan.
