I've generally hated the Harry Potter movies (they mutilate the magic and subtle genius of Rowling's written word) but, for once, I didn't leave the theater with the urge to vomit. The acting has improved, the visuals are stunning, and the movie is dripping with darkness and portent for the battle to come. Nice flow. It's still not anything near the book's perfection but I really enjoyed it.

Never having read more than the first third of the first book in this series, I'm offering this review only as a movie goer. As a movie, this film disappoints. It felt like The Pursuit of Happyness, scene upon scene of bad news, and any happiness was short lived. There is no real character development. I feel like quoting Chaucer from A Knight's Tale when he gets asked what he's doing. "trudging...the slow, weary, depressing yet determined walk of a man (or in this case, movie franchise) who has nothing left in life except the impulse to simply soldier on."

After getting a bad review from a friend, I was reluctant to spend the money on this movie; however, I was greatly relieved to find that it was a very thrilling and action packed flick! I took my two boys (ages 9 and 10) and we were all on the edge of our seats. I was a bit surprised to find that they had a few "choice" words in there as well as bit of sexual content in there, but it really wasn't much more than what one sees on the evening television shows. I can't wait for Part II to come out!

I was quite disappointed. I felt the movie moved very slowly. The plot was great, but I felt many of the scenes could have been deleted. I do, however, look forward to seeing the finale. I feel it will be the bomb!!

This was a fantastic movie, unlike most of the films, this was like reading the book, I mean page for page it was right on. I loved it; I mean I don’t want to see Harry Potter films end, but there are no more books. I have been a Loyal Wizard Fan/Follower since the beginning and will always love this series. Thank You J.K. Rowling for the best darn book/movie series ever.

The whole movie was great, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Not to mention the special affects they had also. There were some sad parts and other parts I don't really remember from the book. The ending, I was left saying, "No. It's not over. I don't have to wait until July. Right?!" It was such a cliffhanger. I will be seeing the second part as soon as it comes out!

So glad this movie is in 2 parts, because there is SO much to cover from the book. They have done a terrific job. Yes Part 1 does seem to drag out in parts of it, but personally I thought the book did as well.
The end leaves you wanting to see part 2 right away. Cant' wait for that to come out next summer!
The cast has done a terrific job staying with the cast for all the films! Thank you for that.

I think they did a great job with this final installment of Harry Potter. It had action from the very beginning and only dragged a little after the first couple action sequences. The ending was dramatic and of course left you wanting more! Overall excellent!! I think it has been my favorite movie of the series so far.

This movie was high action, that kept that sense of humor that J.K. Rowling had in mind. It was more true to the book then many of the other Harry Potter movies have been.

I loved it-saw it twice. I am a huge fan of the books and the movies. I would recommend this movie highly. The special effects were good and there was a good balance of suspense and humor. The cast has really matured in their ability to capture the nuances of their characters. It was awesome-just like the book.

After a long wait we were finally able to catch this movie. This was a very small attempt at keeping up with Harry Potter series. This movie never gets off the ground and it does not leave me anywhere close to wanting to see part 2. I'm sure I will anyway but not because of this. Very very disappointing.

This is what should have been done for books 4, 5 & 6. There was just too much left out that made it difficult for a movie goer who hasn't read the books to understand what was going on. So this movie was great. I didn't have to sit and explain everything to my spouse like I had to do with the previous two movies.

Great movie! It was the best movie of the entire series. I really hated that they split the final book into two movies. The final scene should have had a subtitle that read "come back next year". That was the most disappointing part of the movie. We will all have to watch this movie again prior to going to the final flick.
Otherwise, lots of action. More dark stuff in this movie- but still mixed in with some humor and a few hints of romance.

Went with my teenage son and we had a blast. I agree with others that this movie was better than other HP movies - you just didn't feel the time passing! greatly done, sorry part II is so far from being completed.

We loved it. Fastest 2.5 hours ever and can't wait for the second part. Yes it is dark, no funny stuff happening but spot on to the books plot and character development. The 12 year old and the 64 year olds had equal reactions to this film; no complaints from any of us except we are sorry to see the franchise coming to an end. At least we can re-read the books and watch the DVDs.

This Harry Potter movie was AMAZING! I've actually already seen it twice because it was just that great. I've defintely enjoyed seeing the progression of the series and characters come alive on screen and I have to admit, the older the lot gets, the better the movies become. The darkness and the use of more magic in the film has made this series POP. I've become just as attached to these characters on film as I have in the books and that speaks volumes! Word of advice for new comers...please DO NOT see this movie then bash it because you have not followed the previous movies or books...save us all the headache of having to listen to and/or read your ignorance. I laughed, I cried, got angry and excited...and I ALREADY knew what was going to happen! The creators, directors and cast have out done themselves and I'm just down right jumping up and down like a kid for Christmas morning in order to see the next movie....and it's going to be in 3D...Bloody Brilliant!!!

Brilliant movie....if you read the book, you will see the movie goes exactly like the book.I think this one of the best Harry Potter movies amongst all....although I was hoping the Pt-2 would release in 2 months but it will release sometime in June-July in 2011. :-(

I absolutely LOVE this series! I've seen several reviews about this movie being boring and hard to follow. If you haven't seen the others or read the AWESOME books, it's not going to make any sense - DUH! Even while reading the books this part is a little drawn out, but I think it's needed for the build up to the climax of the ending of the series... BUT, I gave 4 stars because there was so much that could have been covered instead of watching Harry, Hermione and Ron in the woods. What an awesome fight scene they could have made with Madeye's battle. Unfortunately, this movie can only be judged fully once Part 2 is released, as it will then be complete.

I almost fell asleep watching this one, I am a big Harry Potter fan loved each and every other movie but this one did not move me, I realize they are adults on a mission but I thought the whole movie but boring . Maybe the next episode will give me what I thought I was looking for in this one. Dont get me wrong I would sit though this again maybe I missed something?
