Excellant. The kids are all grown up, and have turned out to be marvelous performers. Emma Watson deserves all the accolades she has received. Dan Radcliffe has become a man of many talents. Must see some of his other performances. Rupert Grint, ever present and supportive. The characters are highly developed in this chapter, whereas most of the other characters have very little on screen time, except Dobbie; I want a little house elf! The producer, director, and writer have done an excellent job in presenting the first part of the last book leading to the final battle. Ending similar to the other books; someone dies. Logical breaking point leading to the finale. The journey has been great; all the kids will be sad when it is all over; me too. Theater is outstanding, but the volume could be decresed by about 10 decibels.

I was surprised to discover this installment in the Harry Potter series was so much better than reviewers had stated prior to my seeing the movie! As I had seeing bad movies or disappointing movies I was more than super pleased at this one as was my fiance'.
The characters were complex and interesting. This movie had the best and most interesting character development over any other "Harry Potter" movie to date. I applaud the 3 main characters for their efforts. Daniel had previously had one main emotion in other movies such as "Angst" or "Torment" as his especially in the last two movies in this series. His character in this movie was both rich in emotions and convincing. I felt we got to know both "Hermione Granger" and "Ron Weasley" to a hugely greater extent. (Hermione is indeed by far my favorite actor in the Harry Potter series and after this movie, I believe she will go far in her acting career!)
The special effects were very good and did not too much a presence or oversaturate you.
The plot and script were well done and as I have not read the books I did not expect as much as readers might but I am very concerned with both a good plot shown in good script writing and was not disappointed. It was very satisfying to watch and held my attention throughout though during the 3 characters sojourn away from the world I was wishing for a tiny bit more action but the characters interactions more than kept my interest.
Indeed Harry Potter and his two best friends were real and convincing.
My only complaints were two things. One the movie is very long so I recommend lowering your dosage of soft drinks at the concessions and the second being this abrupt ending the held me at the highest level of interest! I understand such a cliffhanger was unavoidable but wish deeply that I could watch "Part I and Part II" within a day and not the 6 months between releases!
I would NOT miss this movie if you wish to attend and would pay full price to see it again as would my fiance'!
I am sure if you love Harry Potter this will be one of your favorites!

Loved this Harry Potter! I think the best of the series since the very first 2. the acting and sets and scenery were outstanding! can't wait to see the final movie and can't wait to buy this one on DVD!

I felt like it was a very witty and that i felt was the best part of the movie. The dialogue between the main three was very fun and enjoyable. As far as the action it was good not great, and the mushy scenes were pretty cheesy but overall i recommend seeing it because it's still a great story and one of the best harry potter's so far!

through all the emotion and tension and fear, i really enjoyed the impact it had on me. The ending was not too abrupt, and I think that part 2 will be absolutely amazing! tip: don't watch it without having watched at least numbers 5 and 6 first

This was the best Potter movie that has been made since the first one. It stayed more true to the book than any of the most recent ones. The acting was superb and the movie kept you hooked from beginning to end. Not one that I would recommend for children under twelve, it is very dark , at times almost scary and there are moments that will leave you heart absolutely broken. A must see for any Potter fan.

This may be the best in the series. Very faithful to the book and beautifully rendered by all the participants - both in front of and behind the camera. As a "Part 1," it could have slipped into a nearly irrelevant, very long, trailer or teaser or something - but it grips you from the opening and weaves it's tale with dark and darker threads. The lines for the Part 2 will be very, very long!

Number 6 in the series has richer characterization and interpersonal relationship drama than its predecessors. Cinematography and direction are superb and special effects gripping but not overdone. To be sure, there is no thematic unity or direction to the story line, but neither are they present in the book!

As the character's have matured, so has the depth of the storyline. This is no longer about the joys of becoming a young witch or wizard, it's about a war between good and evil. Although the film skips a lot of the details that I enjoyed from the book, I still consider this a must see for anyone who's followed the series.

All the fun gimmicks, scenes and stories are gone and now HP has become more diabolical and deadly as he grows older. The franchise is nearing its end so Rawling appears to be closing down her fun kids into full grown adults. You can go if you have been watching thus far - but the fun is gone.

Great Movie! You need to understand something of the Harry Potter history to fully appreciate this movie. Faboulus special effects - many of them scarey. Great to see the actors still able to present themselves as kids although they are now adults. Looking forward to Part 2, (And 3?).

Definitely for Potter fans only. I can't imagine anyone not familiar with the book would understand anything about the movie. Having said that, it was an excellent interpretation of the book (part 1). Cleverly keeps some of the minor characters alive with brief cameos (e.g., Snape & Neville). Appropriately dark and intense. Wonderful to see these young kids maturing as young adults and accomplished actors.

This movie was as true to the book as any movie can be. It appears that no part of the book was deleted. The first half of the book was about how Harry, Hermione and Ron would destroy the Horcruxes and while they learned they had to move about to keep from getting captured. It captured the friendships and future loves of each character. The part where they finally opened the locket was exactly as it should have been, creepy, because Voldamort was trying to get Ron to not destroy the horcrux but it backfired and enraged him to the point where he would indeed destroy it.

The best of the movies so far, in my judgment - the most melancholy, the least afflicted by cutesiness. Far better than the book, which is filled with irritating pettiness. I'd have preferred one (very long!) movie to two, but the ending of this is beautiful, bleak and sad and menacing.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part 1 was inspiring and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie. You can feel the strong friendships and connections that are portrayed in this movie when they are happening on screen and you can feel and almost understand the emotions that go through the character's heads. It was a great movie and i would reccomend watching it, but watch it when you can concentrate on the plot and story. Don't go see this movie with too many people because you will want to know what happens and be focused on it every single second. Enjoy the movie!

I read the book a long time ago, so the story was fresh enough to be interesting. It's a little slow at times, but there are enough exciting scenes to get your attention. Will be sure to see Part 2. Hope it's in 3D.

the movie was riveting and followed the book very well. when it ended i wasn't ready for it to end. i wanted more. however, i am not sure that it is appropriate for children. maybe teens. there were scenes of torture, the mood was dark and gloomy, almost hopeless...just like the book. but unlike the book, where you use your imagination to visualize what is happening in the book, the scenes are depicted right in front of your eyes. parents should use caution when thinking of taking their children to this movie

The 7th film finds Harry and his 2 friends mostly lost in the wilderness without an idea of how they should proceed to finish the foretold prophesy... the scenery is beautiful, and like most of the other hero quests, Harry is in the wilderness readying himself for the final encounter. I loved this movie but think that if you haven't read the book, you will be pretty much in the wilderness yourself, as was my husband.
