This is a prequel to Pt 2. Setting up something astronomical. I have not read the books on purpose until I've seen all the movies; so I wont sit there going 'that's wrong or changed'. This movie gives you the true definition of " Hang on fellas, it's going to be a bumper ride tonite."

I know that they need to stick to the story line but when other producers have taken liberties with the Harry Potter stories I think they should have taken some more liberties with this one. Talking about a non-action film! For a 3 1/2 hour movie I was finding myself wanting to get out of the theater and find something else to watch. I hope the finale has a little more action and a plot than this one. I won't be buying the DVD thats for sure.

My 13 year old grandson, who with me has read all the books & seen all the movies, told me half way through that it was too violent, and after movie said it was more violent than the book -- we did enjoy the movie, but I feel the younger children may very well be terrorized!! Harry Potter shouldn't be so violent that it offends a 13 year old, should it???

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's slightly long, but I realize it had to be given the length of the book. It was very dark and foreboding, with flashes of brilliant humor, both in the dialogue and the actors' facial expressions. Can't wait for the final movie next summer!

Compared to the other HP Movies, this one seemed to drag a bit. I think Part 2 will be better. When I left the theater, I told my girls that I probably wouldn't be purchasing this one on DVD.

If you loved the book, you will love this movie. It's sad, but that's the where the story takes us, and I am eager for the final installment. This is not a kid's movie (the books never were for children) so don't take little ones.

Great adaptation of the book. Good pacing throughout. (The one area that people say is slow has months taking place in such a fashion it only seems like a few days in the story, so it's really not that slow.)
The only REAL problem with this movie is that when it ends (it is part 1 after all), you'll be dying for the next movie to be out NOW!
Overall a great movie!

I understand why some people didn't like this movie. It is pretty much a build up to the second and a lot of camping. This being said, I STILL LOVED IT! I could love pretty much anything in the Harry Potter saga! They weren't 100% true to the book, but it was a funny awesome movie that ended slightly weird, but left me wanting more!

Really enjoyed the movie. If you haven't read the books or followed the other movies closely, there are little things that might not make sense or seem important, but they all come together to build the plot. I thought part of the movie was a bit slow, but helped the character development. The movies have gotten progressively darker, I wouldn't take a young child to see this one.

This was the BEST Harry Potter movie yet! I cannot WAIT for the next one! It's too late, but now I wish that they had not separated the two parts. I would've gladly stayed another two and a half hours! The story immediately sucks you in! I loved it! I know the last movie will definitely be the best of all!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 was a fantastic, awesome, spectacular movie. My 16 year old son and I both highly recommend it. The last novel in the Harry Potter series is dark and scary. The movie is as well. We can't wait for part 2.

As a Harry Potter fan, I was not disappointed by the latest edition. It was very long (2.5 hours) but the action never stopped. My concerns for this movie are the same for all of the others. This is a very dark and sometimes frightening film. Small children really should not see this movie. The interactions between the characters is very adult including 1 sexually explicit scene that is mild for adults, but not so for kids. Overall, an awesome adventure that leaves you wanting more at the end. Go and see the movie and tell your kids about it!

One of the best HP films yet! The light humor helps to balance out the overall curtain of evil that looms over each scene and helps keep our characters in high spirits. I already can't wait to see it again, not to mention the finale. The only sad part is knowing that the end of a decade-long era is near. Well done.

Anytime I follow a fabulous book with watching the movie, it is very important that the story stays true. As in previous Potter books, this one is right one! Characters continue to 'be' their characters and the evil lurking is outstanding. Great action, yet sensitive to the intense emotions. Great film.

Does every moment have to be one of life-altering drama? I liked the movie, but felt like there was too much brooding, and not enough that moved the story along. And while I understand that this is part 1 of 2, and that they'd leave us hanging, the ending came up very abruptly. Still, I'm looking forward to the final movie (even if she did write a cheesy ending on the last page of book 7).
