I felt that splitting these movies in two was really just for Warner Bros to get an extra dollar ($150mm so far). I found the movie disappointingly boring. I am sarcastically thinking how are they going to get me when this comes out on DVD. I will most likely buy it as my wife is a huge fan and liked this movie. They could have cut this down to an hour or forty five minutes and made just one movie.

I was really happy they split this final installment in two, in truth, I wish they had done so with episodes 5 and 6 as well. At last it feels as if we're getting most of the book's content in the film version. I was not disappointed in the least that the film was not released in 3D. I would rather that the 2nd half not be in 3D either, just because I think it would be too gimmicky to offer it on only one installment out of 8, especially with such a dark tone to the story.

I've read all of the books and seen all of the movies. I really enjoyed the character development in this one. Definitely easier to follow if you've read the last book. Enjoy, and count the months until part II is released next July.

much better than the last movie at sticking to the script. I thought they did a great job getting through the "travel in the woods" time which seemed to drag in the book a bit for me. Loved Dobie and cried my eyes out when he died. I think the actors are all growing into better and more believable presenters of their charactor. Ron especially!

I was somewhat disappointed with the amount that was left out of the movie from the books. I am a dedicated Harry Potter fan, and have read the books multiple times. I am a reading teacher, so I recommend all the books and movies to my students. It was a heart-tugger, and it is growing darker. I can't wait to see the final part. I do have to admit, that it will feel as though it is an end to an era. I will be sad to see the series end!

This HP movie was action packed from the beginning to the end. We loved every minute of it and followed the book well. We most certainly can not wait to the see the 2nd part. We have read the whole HP book series and have seen every HP movie made. We did not expect anything less with this one.

HP7.1 truly reflects the growing pains of the characters. As expected, this was a darker movie than ones previous. And at 2.5 hours long, I was afraid I would find myself being bored at some point. HOWEVER, I found the time to pass very quickly and the climax in front of me before I knew it. Just enough action to keep you watching without a blink.....but slowed compared to past movies so that you could study the true character of the roles. It was weird not having a Hogwarts scene anywhere in the movie.....but other places took precendent.

I thought that this movie was very very close the book, and definitely met my expectations. I was worried in the beginning because this book is extremely complex with a ton of twists and turns; I was worried that the movie wouldn't stick closely to the book, but I thought it did. The sword scene was awesome...great filming and I cannot wait for part 2!

I agree with other posters, this movie was just a little stiff. The youngsters have grown up but their acting skills have not. Content was good but a little drawn out, too much going on to keep up. But, you've got to see it it's Harry Potter and no one wants to be left in the dark when it finally ends.

A Somewhat strong start, sluggish middle and strong finsh.
The movie did not flow, and was a little disjointed, jumping from one thing to another without much explaination. For those of us who read the book, it was easier to follow the plot. The friends that were with me, had not read the book and I had to explain to them what was happening and why. Some important explainations should have been added instead of having to watch everyone stare at each other for terribly long periods to show that they were lonely and bored looking for the horcrux

Would have expected no less than the excitement and anticipation that I felt from the previous HP movies. You can feel the tension building to a final battle. Stayed very close to the book. I recommend that if you are a HP fan, re-reading the DH before seeing Pt1 was a great idea. It had been a while and I had forgotten some of the small, but important facts.

My husband and I just got home from seeing "The Deathly Hallows". So glad we made time to see it this weekend. Once again the people involved have produced an extraordinary telling of the book.....or the first part anyway. I have enjoyed watching the "Kids" grow up over the years and this movie goes a long way to develop their characters. All young people should grow up with that resolve and those good values to carry on the battle for good against evil. Bravo! We plan to see it again.

OK movie: Strong start, long slow middle and decent end. Bottom line - HP7.1 feels really stiff for a movie with so much action. Why? Stiff delivery, occasionally relieved by crying (on cue and sometime for a reason) and grimacing ("look jealous, Rupert" "Jealouser!).

I actually like the actors playing Harry, Ron and Hermione, but when the three take over adult bodies - played by 3 different adult actors - I realized just how wooden they can be. The adult "Harry" moved about in this hilarious stiff-armed way that just NAILED Radcliffe's style in these films. It underscored how unnatural Radcliffe often looks. Because most of the young HP actors move in a similar way, I'm blaming the director's directions.

I have seen the first 2 Harry Potter movies and even though it would resonate more with kids, I found that they moved along and were engaging. Harry Potter and the deathly hallows was boringly long and un-interesting. The characters looked like they were bored also. I will not watch part 2. Die hard fans will probably tolerate this movie.

I find that the director had a tremendous job with all the events that took place in book 7. Also having to tie in some things that have not shown in previous movies. I enjoyed this movie, once I removed my total attachment to the book. I have listened to the Harry Potter books so many times that I almost know them by heart.
A great job on the movie, fast past and you never realize that you have been in the theater for 2.5 hours. I will see it again and own it when it is available.

Loved the movie and the continuing adventures of Harry Potter. These kids have matured in to good actors and the special effects create exactly what I imagined when I read the books. The ending was a perfect place to cut the story, only sad we need to wait another 7 months for the grand finale! These stories will become classics! Thank you JK Rowling for your wonderful imagination and the producers for getting it onto film.

50 something went with two 20-somethings... and we all felt it was adequate , but not the fantastic flick its been hyped to be. A lot of drawn out inter-character cornball. The Harry Dancing scene was ludicrous. You have to Love the books to get through the movie.
Each one loses more MAGIC than the preceeding.

My daughter and I really enjoyed the movie. Finally, a movie that closely resembles the book it's based on! The level of detail in the story telling was fantastic. Thank you! The ending point was a natural place, but so disapointing that the movie was over, and that we have to wait even longer for the conclusion. I wish that the previous movies had stayed this close to the book.

I enjoyed almost every frame of this film. I am a HP fan so that isn't surprising. There were some moments where the movie drags a bit -the seemingly unending wilderness scenes with Harry, Hermione, and Ron. It really distracted from the events surrounding their quest. And the drama of the actual missions they accomplished was hindered by the long interludes in the woods etc. Anyway, I love the characters at this point so it gets an easy A from me.

Way to go David Yates! You finally got one mostly right! This movie was closer to the actual book than any other preceding it--sure it wasn't as action filled as some of the previous films but it was much closer to the actual storyline that Rowling penned. I believe (unlike some people I know) that the discrepancy's in this movie were for there for times sake. I personally thought this movie to be an ace and to those people who didn't like it or found it to be vague(most of whom are the ones who probably haven't read the book at all), IT WAS INTENTIONAL! That air of "what's going to happen next" and "what's going on?!" is exactly the tone that Rowling intended for the 7th book! And they were able to capture it in the film! Brilliant! Well cheerio for now :]
