I have to say that I love the HP books and get so excited about the movies and then get so disappointed afterwards because so much was changed! However, this was definitely the best rendition of book to movie I have seen. It was so fast-paced and the changes guided you through the story easier. Most of the dialogue came straight out of the book too! My only disappointment was not seeing Wormtail's silver hand strangle himself. Otherwise, a must see!! Can't wait til the finale now!!

This was a gripping and dramatic interpretation of the the first half of Deathly Hallows. The acting, focused on the three primary characters, was excellent. The narrative, free of many of the small and unimportant details of the book, was excellent. I have read the book multiple times and felt the choices made moved the plot line along at a much more engaging clip than the book. If you love Harry Potter, I would be surprised if you didn't find this movie gripping and moving. See it!

The best movie adaptation of books 4-7. Although I would have loved a double header of part 1 and 2 released together, part 1 as released ends at a satisfactory point. Nothing critical was lost from the story. There was great attention to detail in setting and imagery to communicate feelings, attitudes and memories not spoken. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. A very difficult job well done!

This was a great movie! As Harry Potter himself would say, "Brilliant!" It wraps up everything nicely and provides a lot of action and adventure. For fans of the movie series, almost every character you have seen in the past is in ths movie in one form or another. Plus it will make you want to see Part 2.
Downsides? Just two 1. If you plan on taking kids who are not of double digit age, don't. This movie is dark and has some scary stuff. Not a kiddie's movie. 2. It is nearly 3 hours long. Not a bad thing, because it catches you up and doesn't let you go, but if you have problems with sitting anywhere for too long or if you have a large soda and nature starts calling 2 hours later, it's a bummer.

The 2 1/2 hours went by quickly for me. The only parts I thought could have been done better were the conflict leading to Ron's walking out and then the scene when Ron comes back. I felt these required more intense emotions than were displayed in the movie.

I would give this movie 10 stars if possible. We have been anticipating the release for quite some time. We are all BIG Harry Potter fans. We've already seen this one twice...IMAX and regular. Both excellent. Can't wait for the final movie!

My son could hardly wait for this movie. I bought tickets in advance b/c I knew it would sell out. We thoroughly enjoyed it! It had humor and action. We jumped a few times with some creepy scenes. The rating for this one is spot-on, not for young kids.

I felt it followed the book better than previous ones. Wish I didn't have to wait for part 2 though. An intermission and then the second half would have been better. Would have paid double to see it all together.

This is a very good beginning to the final chapter of the HP series. Like most of the movies, it would help to have read the book first or at least seen the last film prior to watching this one. Otherwise one will be horribly lost. The effects aren't cutting edge (we've seen everything before) but that gives more focus to the story which moves along quite well for being a 2.5 hour film. If you are not a fan and haven't read the books or seen the movies, you probably won't see this one either. Newcomers should start earlier though, this film will leave those wanting to see what all the HP hoopla is about scratching their heads.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was the movie that was most true to the book (very important to me!). If you haven't read the books, then you probably won't appreciate it as much, but if you have read the novels, it's great. The acting isn't the best as others have said, but I thought they did a really good job compared to past movies. Definitely worth watching! I've already seen it twice!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one was awesome! True, there was a lot of build up and not a lot of action, but this is also true of the book. The actors were amazing...especially Emma! I missed a few things from the book, but still thought the story was done beautifully and without omitting too much.

I have read all of the books and this film can stand on its own. I went with my 12 year old son and his friends who have only read up to "Goblet" and they appeared to understand a sufficient amount of the story. Regardless, they all asked how long did they have to wait until the finally. It holds fairly well to the book line, as well. Character selection has developed deeply in this film and it is cool to see the vast collection of bad characters. The scenery is part of the experience and frustration. You feel like you are there with valiant three. Yes, it is a dark film but there is determination that keeps everyone going as they attempt to discover the remaining horcruxes before it is too late.

The time of the movie certainly didn't feel like it was 2 & 1/2 hours. The action was great and it was nice to see Harry, Ron and Hermine almost all grown up. Their acting as only gotten better over time! Not sure how long Part 2 will actually be as I was surprised to see how far along into the book Part 1 got. But of course like all Harry Potter fans I'll be sure to go see it as soon as it comes out!

Not a bad telling of the story, given the constraints of time; certainly better than Half-Blood Prince, where significant liberties were taken. Yet this film had very little airtime for lots of favorite characters (the Dursleys, Weasleys, McGonagall, Snape) and what was there was very thin. Even Voldemort wasn't wicked enough; he looked more like the Chairman of the Bored (sic). Few, if any, scenes had the "gee-wiz" factor. But two especially nice bits were with Hermione's parents and the tale of the Three Brothers.

With movies that are part of a series, it's difficult to have consistancy of quality. This entire series not only is as good as the last movie but especially with this most recent one, is even better. Maybe it's just the "kids" have matured into such excellent actors, maybe I go in expecting the unexpected, I'm not sure, but I felt this was the best of the series thus far. When I first heard that they were breaking this last book up into 2 movies, my first thought was "ah, greed" but that's not the case at all. They have shown real integrity in preserving the quality of the book translation into movie and have given the characters and audience the respect they are due. Way to go! This is a real must see. Loved it!

What makes this movie special is that the original characters/actors stayed with it! We've aged with them and feel a real attachment to them. While the run time is rather long, that bond we've formed keeps us 'enchanted.'

After reading.listening to the book for the umpteenth time I was looking for a lot but to find it missing. Harry's Birthday party where he got his pouch to carry his things, he was in disguise for the wedding, the Snatchers came into the tent and grabbed them and a bunch more. All in all though I really enjoyed it, what was in the movie was in the book, well sort of. It was fun and action packed.
