It was an excellent film! First time I saw a movie at its midnight premire and it was well worth it! I thought the acting was far better than previous films, action was intense, and held very well to the original story line! GO SEE IT!

If you've read the book, you already know that much of the first half of the story is spent waiting, thinking and planning. As such, it's not a surprise that this film moves along at a slower pace than some of the previous Potter installments. For casual fans, this might be a negative, but for fans of the books, the slower pace (and extra time allotted by the fact that the book has been split into two movies) allows for many welcome details and intricacies that would otherwise have been passed over. As a standalone film, it's good but not great, but when you consider that it's simply laying the foundation for what should be an epic conclusion, it achieves its goals admirably.

that was SO AMAZINGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ughhh omggg i'm such a fan of the books and they did not dissapoint me i was ready to critique it harshly but they gave me no reason to do so.
action was GREAT.
the scenes were so well thought out and put together. the visuals were truly magical. they put so much information in it and everything made sense.
it was funny, exciting, scary, romantic, beautiful, sad. i laughed jumped cried went thru every emotion possible.
i'm so happy right now. thank you david yates.

This movie was amazing. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, were stunnng! They really captured the struggles they were each going their characters were going through. Eveyone's acting was amazing. The movie stuck extremely close to the book with some minor differences, (I didn't pick up on any major ones). Everything was absolutly amazing. I didn't feel as if it was 2 am when I was leaving the theater I was into the movie and on the edge of my seat. Almost cried in multiple spots. Bottom line... See this movie!!!!!

As soon as the slower music started playing and Voldemort was at Dumbledore's grave, I knew the movie was ending. Barely anything happened in this movie, but the humor and action were mixed wonderfully. Now I KNOW that the last movie is going to be FULL of action because there's 3 horcruxes to destroy and the Wizard War to be fought! I can't wait until this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This movie was great though, I really enjoyed it.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was as epic as the others. The three are wonderful actors. The movie went from tear jerking scene, to jokes, to action smoothly and effortlessly. A lot has changed in Harry Potter's world so a lot has changed in the movies, no more Dumbledore so no more Hogwarts. The scenery is completely different then the other movies. The movie is essentially just Harry, Ron and Hermione, they are alone for almost all of it. But they are wonderful together, great dynamics and wonderful actors. Loved it!

Absolutely amazing movie that was very well directed and acted. It was funny, yet gut wrenching to see the pain the characters were going through. Definately a movie where the "cute" kids have grown up and reality hits them straight in the face.

The movie gave audiences of ALL ages something to clap, cheer, scream, & cry about. It moved at a good pace, and kept me & my daughter interested and wanting to know what was going to happen next, though she already knew, having read the entire series.
The cast was excellent, the director brilliant.
Can't wait for Part 2.

This has to be one of the most exciting and and most beautiful of the seven movies. I was entranced the entire time. The cinematography was intense and captivating and innovative. I could totally see myself watching this again. The acting was amazing and the story held your attention with no slow parts, at all. WATCH IT....many times.

But like the 6th movie, the Deathly Hallows wasn't accurate. Sure the graphics, special effects and make-up were amazing but many parts of the movie didn't complement the book. If the books weren't any good I could see why the director would want to make the movies stand out on their own but the books are phenomenal and I don't understand why he has to keep changing things in his movies. It seemed a bit choppy and sporadic at times; if I hadn't read the book I would have been confused about what was going on in several parts. I will never not see a Harry Potter movie but I don't think I'll be standing in line for 3 hours for the midnight showing of the second part in July.

BEST MOVIE EVER. Harry was not useless. His not shaving was annoying. Fred and George was hilarious. Ron and Hermione were adorable together. The humor cut thorugh the dark drama of the film. It was very fast paced, but the book is like that too, so it's all good.

This movie was by far the best of the seven, and I have no doubt part 2 will top them all. It closely followed the book, which is a huge plus. AWESOME. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and scream!

Following in the footsteps of the novel the movie is a more mature experience that may not be appropriate for some young children. The film is well acted, though after seven films staring the who's who of British thespians its not surprising that the stars give good performances. The only bad thing about the film is that we have to wait until the summer to see the rest of it.

cant wait for part 2. i thought part 1 ended in a very reasonable stopping point. i really hope that theaters offer a showing of part 1 to show before the midnight showing of part 2. i would have stayed for the 5-6 hours it would have taken to show the book in its entirety.

Having read the books first and thus graded on the following; Acting, Special Effects, Soundtrack, and storyline. I found this movie to be better then the last by far, but still not the greatest of the 7. The acting as usual was superb, special effects were awesome, soundtrack was well done, and storyline unfortunately there were some cuts and changes that a HP Fan might not approve of, but overall not as bad as the last movie storyline. Also the Storyline was a little slow in places and fast in others. Overall I give Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 1 a B-. Good Job WB and keep up the good work.

As someone who enjoyed the earlier movies more than the recent ones, I am pleased to say that this movie was not only gripping, but it never felt slow or weighted down. True (enough) to the book, this movie was mildly funny, but mostly it is dominated by magic and action scenes, which really worked to make the movie more enjoyable.

The direction, artistic vision, and acting where all superb in this latest of Harry's adventures. It is a bit of a letdown because it ends and we have to wait another 8 months for the conclusion, but they had no choice.
The settings and scenery where fantastic, it was a nice change of pace from the normal shots of Hogwarts. This time we get to see much of the beautiful natural scenery of england as well as more of the Wizarding World.
This part of the finale was more about emotions, strategy, and mood, but do not despair those seeking action will not be let down by the second half of this project.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was refreshing to see the "kids" interact out in the "real" world instead of just the confines of Hogwarts. I think by doing this, the actors were able to fully evolve into their characters.
In this movie, I laughed, I cried, I flinched; I was fully entertained.
I am totally looking forward to Part 2 in July!!

I thought they did a great job with this movie. At first I was disapointed that it would be broken up into two parts but after seeing how much more they followed the book in this movie I am glad, in fact it makes me wish 5 and 6 were broken up so they had more time to capture the important parts as well. Some might feel it is slow while they are wondering thru the wilderness but I disagree, I think it is supposed to be frustrating and full of emotion and waiting...just like in the book. Loved loved loved this. The only part I was not 100% satisfied was the ending scene, don't really have any ideas of a better ending scene but I just felt a little strange when the screen went black.
