A fine weave of drama, action, love-story ... all culminating in true J.K. Rowling style.
Was over the top... in very good ways, and I was completely transported and dissaparated with them each and every time. I felt their pain, their frustration, their anger, their helplessness, their joys and their sorrows. AMAZING!

The Deathly Hollows takes the series to the group out of the safety of Hogwarts and Dumbledore's protection. From the beginning, it is easy to see that this is the most different in the series as you can tell the presence of Voldemort and the Death eaters. This is a must see if you are remotely interested in the series.

At first I was upset the last movie was split into 2 but now I'm glad that it was done. This movie was greatly directed and it has everything you want in a movie- comedy, drama, romance, action, and suspense. DEFINITELY going to see it again!

The movie was very well done!. It follows the book s closely as possible and still falsl in line with all the previous movies. If you have read the book, ofcourse it is predictable, but still there are a few surprises, as well as some of the best lines in the book are in the movie. I feel that this movie lacked the feeling of overwhelming pressure to complete the task given to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. (also with the understanding that this is a movie and there are time constraints). I really enjouyed the movie, and I am looking forward to seeing it again on the big screen at least one more time, and will anxiously await the release of the final chapter.

i saw the 12:15 am showing of deathly hallows and i liked the movie. as a casual fan, i thought the movie was good...i thought it was better than half blood prince i only gave it 4 stars cause i wish it had been longer lol...can't wait to see part 2

To preface this, I have not read any of the books so I can't compare the movies to the books. As a fan of the movies, I would say that this movie wasn't very exciting. I know that it is the story that controls the movie so that's why I didn't deduct points for it. Also, I think the acting abilities of each actor has increased and made even the most boring scenes bearable. I could not give this five stars because I found myself at multiple times bored. However, when it was good... it was really good. I'll watch it again.... on DVD... Because I'm not sitting through another group of 17 year olds acting out the movie in the aisles.
On a side note, my girlfriend reads all of the books (multiple times) and said that the movie was very accurate and she enjoyed it a lot.

Excellent movie.....It stayed with the book in content wich is always good. It is a darker film and may be a little to adult for the younger audience, but for those who have been watching the films (and hopefully reading the books) right along should find it a wonderful movie with sad, scary, and somtimes funny moments. Go check it out....

Harry Potter lives up to the hype and is well worth the ticket! It truly follows the book and brought great memories from reading it several years ago. The acting, scenery and character development are wonderful and the music is outstanding, as usual. I highly recommend this movie to any Harry Potter fan or to those just begining to fall in love with the HP series!

Everything about this movie was awesome. Having followed the series from the start, this movie brilliantly sets up for a finale of truly awesome proportions. The story was a little more dark in comparison to the rest of the series, but the kids aren't at Hogwarts anymore, and that is to be expected.
However, one issue that plagues this movie, and it occurs quite often in the scenes that are in small rooms, or cramped locations, and that is that the camera shakes way too much. Perhaps that was what the cinematographer was going for, but it made most of the scenes where that occurred a bit confusing.
Other than that, the movie was truly: epic.

SO good. The special effects were astonishing. I was really impressed; although I have to admit that the ending was a little too predictable. Lots of humor, great visuals, and definitely followed the storyline. AWESOME MOVIE!

Don't get me wrong, it is fun at points. To summarize why i cannot say this was a good movie: it sacrifices good plot, characters, and story telling to try to be an emotional drama with very little character development and to highlight the directors inferences and sell tickets to all of the twilight craved fans.
To expand on my points, it cuts out parts of the story: and i understand its a huge book, you have to. But what they choose instead of certain parts of the story is why i complain about it. They6 focus a majority of their time on the WORST PART of the book (aka the woods). I know, i know important things happen there.... but it lingers there way way way too long. Which goes directly into another point IT TRIES TO BE TWILIGHT. I really dont remember that being a main focus anywhere in the book and when you are sacrificing for inferences like that instead of giving more time to actual parts of the book, such as KREACHER who they COMPLETELY IGNORE except for his tiny little scene (where he is funny.... which is why they should have included just a little bit more of his story.), And they also have very little character development and rough transitions between scenes.
It really was not THAT well done of a movie. Sure graphics, and acting was done well, but the part that makes harry potter great, the story, was sacrificed to the money god that producers see as twilight fans.
I know i am disagreeing with most of America right now in my review, but stop drinking the koolaid and look at the quality of the writing of the movie and you will know what i mean.

This is what we've been waiting for. A Harry Potter movie that mirrors (the essential parts of) the book it is based on. There were no significant plot changes, and for me at least, it was extremely close to how I "always pictured things" in my head. And the cinematography plus the warm hearted and playful add-ins really brought the story to life. Loved it!

I saw this at a midnight premiere last night, and lets just say I was thrilled. The 1st part of Deathly Hallows has to be the closest adaption to the books since Sorcerer's Stone. Different from Sorcerer's Stone however is the fact that the acting is much improved and this film is much more poignant and intense.
Any departures from the original story line only serve to advance the plot and add to the story instead of detract from it.
A must see!

The movie was good, but being a fan of the books, I felt like they left out a lot of important details that are very important. For everyone going to see it - couple of notes you need to know - after Sirius died, he left Harry his house and of course the elf now has to answer to Harry. Also, plenty of people were confused by a major scene in the middle - splinching is when something goes wrong during an apparation and you could lose parts of your body.

We went to see it at midnight and it was so worth the 2 1/2 hours. We wanted more. You will love this movie. Harry has grown up alot since the very first movie but you follow along as if there had been no time at all since the last movie. It will leave you wanting the 2nd part now.

Director Chris Columbus' two HP movies (1 & 2) are considered by many hardcore fans of the books to be the 2 best movies of the lot thus far, and I agree though 3 & 4 were still entertaining enough even though they left out more stuff from the books than CC's efforts. Now true, that the books get more involved as the series goes along, but in director David Yates case, it's been more about what he leaves out of the films than how much.
So I was very pleased to see last night that he finally took a page from CC and finally we have yet another HP film you can say is worthy of the book. There were a couple deviations from the book, and at times some scenes felt rushed to make room for what I like to call Yates' 'moments of symbolism' where he lingers too much on a particular scene/moment that isn't as relevant to the story line as he wants you to believe, but he puts these moments in the film for dramatic effect in hopes of capturing the audience's state of emotion. What he fails to realize is fans of the books already are pumped with emotion seeing their own imaginations on the big screen and we don't need his help. Yes, there are people who only have seen the movies and haven't read the books, but he is doing them a disservice in leaving key details on the cutting room floor to make way for his symbolism. I'm happy to report this is very minimal in HP7, P1.
There were loads of great moments in the movie that played exactly to the book and it did have enough pace, even when they were meandering about the countryside looking for Horcruxes, to keep you entrenched in the film. The actors did a very good job in reference to their characters, especially Daniel, Rupert and Emma bringing alive the chemistry of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
I will go see this movie again, probably more than once more to take it all in and let it settle in my mind. I know I enjoyed it enough that I could see it again a couple times in the next week. It did carry on longer than I would've thought, ending at the point that most HP book fans predicted it would. That leaves less of the book for Part 2, but I'm hoping Mr. Yates goes more thoroughly into the details of the story line for the second half. Part 1 had enough details to keep a skeptical fan of the books, like myself, quite happy with the end result.
So IMO, it did live up to the hype for the most part and is worth seeing more than once.
I didn't mention specific moments of the film to be fair to those who haven't read the books. If you've read the books, you should be happy with this film. If you haven't, I think you'll notice there's more detail and depth in this movie than the past three.

This was the best movie made from the Harry Potter books! I was concerned about where they would end the movie but Mr Yates chose the perfect place to end Part 1. I've read all the books (including Beetle the Bard and Harry's school books) so I knew what to expect but there were some surprises in this one. I actually jumped several times and even cried on more than one occasion! Wonderful movie!!!!
