I really enjoyed this movie. It was funny, scary at times, action packed and fast moving which all makes for a gripping movie. The characters were kept true to the book and so did the plot for the most part. The small changes to the plot here and there were actually great additions and did in no way detract from the story. Any Harry Potter fan will love this movie and will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of part two.

This movie was epic. I loved the darkness throughout the movie, as well as the numerous laughs. Also, Harry has finally manned up a bit. The only gripe I have, which is very, very small, was that they did spend a relatively decent amount of time in the forest, but it was nothing that would keep me from watching this many more times. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Perhaps one of the best sequels of the Harry Potter series. The wizardry combat was extremely intense and you could feel the plot coming to the climax in Part II. I also enjoyed the deeper exploration of the relationship between Harry, Hermoine and Ron. The loss of so many good characters by the end was tough to take even though you knew it was coming from the book.

If you're a diehard Harry Potter fan, you know that the movies always seem to skim over so much material. Again, even though they split Deathly Hallows into two parts, it seems like the director and writers didn't even try to keep it accurate. There's quite a few scenes that easily could have be written to be accurate to the book.
Also, the movie is funny. I don't quite get it. They're in the middle of a war, people dying, epic battle scenes and intense drama, and yet throughout the film the characters are cracking jokes left and right. It seems like the director really wanted the movie to be family friendly instead of, again, anything close to the book.
Overall, though, it is Harry Potter, one of the greatest works in my lifetime. Seeing the movie was a blast, it was highly entertaining and very exciting. For anyone new to the Harry Potter universe- watch the other movies first, you won't get this movie. For the diehard Harry Potter fans out there who have been waiting for years for this movie, I'll be waiting anxiously with you for Part 2.

This was a great first part of the movie. For the most part, it was completely as I had played it out in my head while reading the book. I realize that they left out specific details about certain characters, but I feel this was necessary because the movies focuses on the 3 and Voldemort. If you are wanting a movie that has every tiny detail out of the book, then you are better off making one on your own. Personally, this prequel was great and ended very well with an excellent cliff hanger. A must see for the fanatic movie fans of Harry Potter.

I loved this movie - it was amazingly true to the book (at least as true as a movie adaptation could be) and really kept the dark spirit of the 7th book alive. The only complaint I've heard about it is that it can be a bit slow: however, that's kind of how the first half of the book is. If you didn't love the pacing, just remember that this is a set up for the action packed part 2: give it time and you'll have them both on dvd, and you can happily watch both back to back.

This is the best out of all the Harry Potter movies. It stayed mostly true to the book and took creative licenses that were appropriate.
There was one odd scene when Ron is trying to destroy the Hocrux that was particularly out of place, but otherwise, it was fantastic!
They could not possibly tell the story in one movie. I think taking two movies to portray the 7th book really lets them do a much better job at creating tension and following the story line.
With low expectations from all the other movies, I was blown away!

Watching the Deathly Hallows, Part I, felt like I was reading the book again, and that's the experience I want. That's the experience I look for. And I found it, for the first time in a Harry Potter movie, and so much more. The digitally rendered adventures of the previous films were scrapped for beautiful landscapes and the best acting the films have ever seen. If you've missed the movies prior to this one, or have yet to read the books... You're not going to know what hit you.

This movie followed the book amazingly well considering how badly they jacked up the sixth one. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. There was the absolute perfect amount of comic relief and it wasn't over-the-top at all. The acting has really improved over the last couple of movies. Overall, it was an outstanding film and I'm looking forward to the last one!

Another triumphant recreation of the Harry Potter books. With the exceptions of Books 1 & 2, the books are just too grand for most faithful screen adaptation, so critical decisions must be made in order to fit them into films of less than three hours. As an avid HP reader, I liked the editing of DH1.
None of the minor characters were reintroduced, This viewer knew who they were. I can only guess that the uninitiated would be put off by this. That said, the action flew by. All of the important elements of the plot were included, with one exception, which I assume will be revisited and more fully developed in part 2.
You won't be disappointed.

Let me start off with what I did actually like about this film...the cinematography in this movie is absolutely beautiful. It definitely pays off to shoot on site for such a wonderful result. The digital effects (such as the house elves) far surpassed those in, really, any other harry potter movie. They don't serve to themselves, rather they actually help move the story along very well.
The beginning started off very strong, however within the first 15 minutes it became apparent to me that David Yates as a director hadn't actually improved.
The movie itself wasn't terrible, but there were several scenes in this film that didn't serve the plot of the story whatsoever. While the book readers and some movie goers will know is that there is supposed to be chemistry between Ron and Hermionie. However with the constant hugging, leaning, and what not, it seems that David Yates is trying to build up something between Harry and Hermionie too much.
This leads me to my next comment. Every actor in this movie has improved! But in every scene where there is supposed to be this emotional, tense, practically agonizing build up or event the characters seem to only get halfway there and the viewer can't help but be left in this state of being robbed of the scenes climax. This has happened in the past as well (Harry Potter 6 and 5) What this effects is the entirety of the film! Frankly, I sat there in the theatre bored out of my mind because nothing was building between the characters at all.
I don't recommend this for people who haven't read the books...or really for people who have. Parts of it were fun, but they are outweighed by the lagging flow overall.
