I love horror movies and am easily entertained. This movie was an entertaining horror movie. But despite having phenomenal actors the plot was really weak. The special effects were cool during the transformation but the wolfman was honestly not so frightening. He looked slightly more scary than Teen Wolf. Cute black button nose, very human expressions. I would have enjoyed a better story and a less traditional looking werewolf much more.

The plot was so bumpy because of poor execution. The only highlight of the movie was to 3-4 jolts it gave me with surprise attacks of the wolfman. It was easy to see who the initial beast was. Also, as a side note, Benicio is not an alluring leading man.

Boring and predictable. The directory failed make the viewer believe that the Wolfman's son was actually loved by the leading lady. I felt no attachment to or passion for any of the characters. The movie failed to reach those key feelings within the viewer. None of the expected fears, shock, emotions or surprises. Even the makeup of 90's. No comparison to Avatar!

After reading all the critical reviews I almost thought about seeing something else, but the acting was really good, the cinematography was excellent and the story line albeit week was okay. The wolfman character did remind me of a 1950's monster and could have been better, but overall I think if you're looking for a scary movie, this one is okay. This classic remake has a lot going for it: great actors, fantastic costumes, terrific sets, fabulous makeup and special effects. Sadly, it lacks two essentials to make a successful movie - a story and a competent story teller.
I love that film makers wants to recreate classic cinema, but I almost always hate the result. "The day the earth stood still," "The war of the worlds," and now this pathetic mess. Horrible jumbles of the original stories carelessly flung at the screen with a handful of special effects and a couple of big-name Hollywood stars.
This is yet another handful of interesting special effects in search of a story. You won't miss anything by giving it a pass.

I loved it! I agree with most of the other reviews- excellent story line and gore! The thrills were very "thrilling", the effects were awesome. I am seeing it again! And I so SO enjoyed Anthony Hopkins, he played the part very well..I hope he wins an award for it.

Whenever I see a remake, I of course compare it to the original in respect to content, progression and originality. I love the fact that the writers came up with a nice twist to the original (without giving away too much), the casting was great with Hopkins and Benicio, great transforming special effects and decent story line.

After struggling for 25 minutes to get a parking space at the Palladium, we went into a crowded and dirty theater. The movie from start to finish never quite got my attention. The acting was not great - though the effects were. Would definitely not have gone if I had known the quality of the movie.

It's a great movie. There is not much changes in the storyline as its a remake of old Warewolf. But definitely with nice visual effects & great acting by the cast, it's a must watch movie. Benicio & Anthony did a geat job.

This movie had good entertainment value. the acting was all good, Hopkins turned in a good performance. Benicio Del Toro definitely had the face for the role. It was slow at times but there was a lot of good action scenes. The CGI was better than most. The movie was different than others out there but the story line was typical of the thousands before it, of a man loves woman story line written in a Wolfman context. While watching it I had flashbacks of Legends of the Fall!

My husband & I went for our Valentine's Date Night and we were lucky to get seats! Packed house for an entertaining movie. Transformation scenes were awesome, storyline was ok, acting was great from the 3 stars, but a little over-the-top from the secondary. All in all, good movie, entertained for the alotted time, pleased with the movie.

Well, after reading the horrible user-reviews prior to seeing the movie, that is. Granted, it's not the best horror movie you'll ever see, but Benicio Del Toro, with his permanent look-of-frustration/anguish on his face, was perfect for the role. No, it's not "Saw", and it's not "Transformers", for those of you that didn't like it. But the look and feel of the movie was perfect and the make-up and special effects were just right. The film moved well from the opening scene all the way to the end. Take a chance and go see it. You won't be sorry.

To call this version "The Wolfman" is an insult to the original. The original was a simple tale but had a great story about the anguish Lawrence Talbert went through because the beast inside him was the antithesis of the man he was. This version did a poor job of developing any of the characters. There was no foundation for a relationship with him and Gwen Conliffe. Even the so-called thrills were minimal. The Gypsy woman had very little to do in this movie and certainly was no Maria Ouspenskaya. The only redeeming qualities in this movie were the sets and photography. This film had the potential to be better but it just was never realized.

The Wolfman aimed for Horror and came up nothing short of Horrendous. The way I've described the film to friends already is that if you've heard this sound before, "Grrrrr", then you've seen the Wolfman already. The only redeemable qualities of this movie are the score by Danny Elfman and the Sound FX. Other than the sound, this film is just a pathetic rehash of an otherwise cheesy creature feature franchise to begin with.

I love horror movies and I can say that this movie shows the man to werewolf transformation the way it should be shown! The special effects were great! the beginning of the movie was a little slow but once it gets going it is awesome. Of course, Anthony Hopkins was fantastic.

With a murky, dreary atmosphere The Wolfman was overall a good movie done in the classic Wolfman style with modern CG. It had a healthy amount of blood and gore complete with entrails and the ripping of strips of flesh from bodies. A great performance as always was attained from Anthony Hopkins. Benicio Del Toro made a fairly decent Wolfman. Hugo Weaving is always interesting to watch on screen and has a certain way about him that pulls you in. Emily Blunt was also very good but wasn't allowed to develop her character more in this movie which is one of the things I didn't like. There should have been more interaction between her and Benicio. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes good horror.

Saw it, loved it, and would pay to see it again in the theater. Anthony Hopkins and Benico Del Toro. Nuff said. Great story and special effects and just enough blood to make it scary.

I'm amazed at the critics' reviews of this movie. Do we have to have it in "cartoon" form for them to like it? My Mom and I are werewolf movie fans and were not going to go see this due to the reviews. I'll never, ever let a review stop me from seeing a movie again. This has to be the best gothic movie I've seen in a long time, not to mention that I wasn't bored at all!! The photography was awesome, the acting was, haha, I'd say at least as good as Lon Chaney's and the one blunder I saw was the fight between the werewolves. Otherwise, it was extremely entertaining and lived up to what I expected of Anthony Hopkins and the "horror" genre. Good film - don't let the critics stop you from seeing this one, my werewolf fan friends.

Anthony Hopkins doesn't need to work. I'm sure his home is paid for and his kids are well taken care of. What was he thinking? And I can't help but think Benicio Del Toro only said yes to this "horror" so he could work with Anthony Hopkins. I understand that. But Benicio, if Anthony Hopkins jumped from a bridge would you follow suit? This dull, worthless film makes the remake of Psycho seem nearly forgivable. I suggest you and your pals take the twelve bucks you'd pay to see it, buy a cup of something hot from the nearest coffeehouse, and all have a lively discussion on the merits of the original.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
