As a lifelong fan of classic horror, I was quite interested in seeing The Wolfman. Visually, the film makes for some scary fun. Some of the scenes were a little too predictable, others seemed out of place, and needed more back story. I would have liked to have seen less dependence on gore and more exploration into the relationships between the main characters.

This is a must see for any fan of the original Universal movie. References and tips of the hat to the original were plentiful and appreciated. Atmosphere and torch carrying towns people and howling at the moon were all there. Warning! Although the use of state of the art special effects techniques were very effective there was a considerable amount of blood and guts to make even the most die hard gore hound squeamish. Pacing was direct and fluent and had this viewer wanting more. Don't wait for the dvd. See it on the big sceen and have fun!

I was very excited & anxious to see this movie. Our 6 year old was at the grandparents on Valentines night so it was perfect opportunity to see this rated R flick with my husband and 17 year old. We were all bored to death, I thought it was very slow, and I was hopeful it was going to be awesome since Anthony Hopkins was playing a major role. I was very unimpressed and wish I wouldve waited to pay $1rental fee at RedBox to watch this movie; and I definitely wont be renting it, nor watching it on HBO or any other home channel. It was pretty bad. My husband and 17 year old feel the same. The blood & gore werent even that explicit. This couldve really been a PG-13 movie in my opinion.

Not unexpectedly, the acting is superior in this film. Hopkins once again shows his excellent talents, while Del Toro and Blunt blossom. The remake of an old theme is nicely done. The artistic cinemetography takes it to a terrific level... pay attention to the close-up of the character's eyes! I did find some of the effects a bit tacky but can't offer a solution for them: time lapse scenes of the "rising" moon; the Wolfman "howling". In some ways, these became annoying and a detractor to the creativeness of the film. All considered, a solid "B"... and the positioning for the sequel is well done.

I enjoy a good scary movie but am not a fan of gory movies so I was apprehensive about seeing this film. While there are certainly some gross scenes,it wasn't as gory as I had thought. The movie was entertaining and I enjoyed it. Not the best movie ever made, but if you want to go and just enjoy a movie - it's a good choice!

The set, costums, and lighting gave it great effect. I loved the dark tone to the movie, and it stayed true to the orginal movies. If you love old monster movies you would like this. If you are expecting it to be more of an action movie, it may fall short. The plot and overall characters needed something more, but I overall enjoyed this movie for the dark beauty in it and the fact that I love monster movies.

I was very disappointed in the shallow dialogue and the lack of depth in the characters in this movie. Even Anthony Hopkins' performance couldn't bring life to this stunted script. Benicio was wooden at best. Emily Blunt was beautiful, acted beautifully, and all the same I found myself thinking "I just don't care what happens to any of these characters." There wasn't anything here to make me invest in the outcome. The upshot was that the movie was brilliant visually, and the action/special effects were pretty killer. It was almost worth seeing just for that.

What I liked about this movie is how the story was nice and compact, it wasn't a lot of dragged out dialogue in getting to the good parts, it starts, explained what was happening and takes you through the story in a face paced, entertaining way. without question the special effects by the legendary Rick Baker are awesome! The Wolfman transforming is so real it is worth the admission, gory, bloody and violent attacks are done at a very fast pace to not overwhelm, if your interested in seeing this move, go! You won't be dissaponted.

Great movie!! I enjoyed the special effects, stayed close to the storyline of older version. I love Anthony Hopkins even if he is the bad guy.

Please save your money! The previews for this movie were great but it falls short. Benicio was the wrong man for the role. He mumbled and was monotone. It was almost comical. Hopkins seemed to think that he was still playing the father from When the River Runs Through. Blunt was impressive considering how poorly the story was executed. Weaving was impressive but again, what a waste of talent in this role. Where was the horror? There were some excellent special effects, but that's about it. Audience members even walked out of the show. So sad! Who's afraid of the big bad wolfman? Not I
No, I do not recommend this movie.

In a nutshell this movie was a great nod to the old Saturday afternoon horror movies. The special effects were fantastic and I appreciated the Wolf Man actually looking like a man. It was a very nostalgic movie for me.
