WARNING! Do NOT go to see "The Wolfman" movie. Wait until it comes out on HBO and you have absolutely nothing else to do with your life for 2 hours. I was so surprised and disappointed...Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving (bad guy from The Matrix) were in it for goodness sakes! A 5-year-old could have predicted the story-line...and the "scary" parts were cheap tricks. Atrocious...simply atrocious. On the plus side, Hugo Weaving was magnetic...I absolutely appreciate his talent.

You know this movie had such a star studded cast, i think everyone can agree with that! But not even this great class could save this film. Other movies like "Nine" and "The Towering Inferno" had such a great cast but the movie was just a epic fail, and this movie might fit in very well with the other two. I just this weekend is just not a good week for movies. Just save your money. The acting was very good, but the storyline was lacking, and so was the special effects the werwolves looked like Wookies from Star Wars , again just save your money, or just rent it.

the movie was a complete let down. it lacked any sense of depth. the story line is boring and i was trying hard to stay awake throughout the whole thing. the movie doesnt grasp ur emotions at all and ull find urself wanting the movie to end as soon as possible so u can hurry up and leave the theater, or go hop into another movie.. if u think ur just gonna shrug this review off and go see it anyway.. The Wolfman is a howling shame. I had high hopes...but instead of the movie striking awe and fear ... it lived down to my worst fears. Director Johnston did well in capturing the atmospheric visuals .... and there is some good acting from Hopkins and Weaving .... and a smattering of good Wolfman metamorphosis effects ..... but that is where the "happiness" ends. The story is dis-jointed, pulled out like taffy, diluted and just not very good. The original Lon Chaney version was much better. Del Toro's acting is the worst I have ever seen from him. What was he thinking? The CGI is often "cartoony" and that is just unacceptable post-Avatar. The movie felt way too long! Hold on to your horror movie investment dollars until the next full moon!

The WOLFMAN was a pretty good movie actually, it did not meet my expectations, however, it still delivered. The fact that they stuck with the original theory of the werewolf helped to make the movie better for me because it kept it original in its own sense. HOWEVER the howling did it for me, when i heard it I was like OMG you have to be kidding me, that just ruined it, lol, sorry, but the howling was too much. Overall, the WOLFMAN was a good movie, not great, but good nonetheless.

Great cast but not much else, this movie falls short of adding to the Werewolf legacy like its predecessors.
If you have never seen a werewolf movie Wolfman may wet your appetite but audiences are less likely to be inspired by this bland interpretation of a classic tale.

It's good. Complaints? Hmm, well for one the werewolf dude was like a hairy ninja and a hulk at the same time. And even then, the hulk would get agitated if you shot it. I think in the whole movie this thing only once reacted to being shot. Physics fans will point out obvious conservation of mass issues during transformation scenes. What else.. hmm.. did anyone notice, whilst all of the humans in the movie are being disemboweled not a single animal was injured? Ohh well, I'm sure PETA will have something to say against the movie anyways. Perhaps, an imbalanced proportion of humans riding horses to horses riding humans? Ohh, and apparently werewolves are flammable, so keep yours away from sources of ignition.

Excellent pacing, great ambience. Steady levels of tension. Some plot elements are obvious (c'mon its wolfman, what did you expect?), hugo weaving is good, as well as the more central actors. Benicio does seem a little stilted during a few scenes. I loved the depiction of the actual wolfman. Action sequences were kept short enough that the tension remained-- a personal pet peave is overly long action seqences in movies. There are some nice visual effects and evokes the right mood.. There are the obligatory shape shifting scenes and gore, but I was pleased with it overall and I don't feel it stooped to being a slasher movie. The length of the film was just right for a story of its limited complexity. I really enjoyed it.

Both my wife and I enjoyed the film. This is a wolfman film and not the Tudors or Shakespear. I don't understand the negative posts and trying to make it more than it is. It can be a parody of the original or just a fun movie of fantasy but this is not to be taken seriously, so lighten up and enjoy the film.

As a lover of classic black and white horror films I think The Wolfman was a great tribute. Granted its not an original take by any means and I don't care for most of the cgi the overall feel of the original is evident. After watching all the interviews before seeing this movie almost all of them mention Mr. Lon Chaney as an inspiration which to me was present in the makeup and Benicio's acting style. So if you're looking for an action packed werewolf movie this is not for you, but if you're a fan of the original and want to see a proper tribute then I recommend this film.

lot's of superficial values: name actors, good special effects, very good cinematography and mood. But oddly despite some frenetic activity, nothing much happens. Certainly no plot that leads anywhere, and not much dialogue or anticipation. It just rolls along like a slightly prettier but less scary remake of the original. See it, but don't expect too much.

The lighting and mood are awesome. If you watched this on a DVD, you would lose most of the lighting effects. You have to see this in a theater to appreciate it.

This was one of those films where the hype was bigger than the film itself. Aside from the fact that it had a great cast, setting, and extreme special effects the movie was pointless. There was no valid story line, and you had to carefully follow any dialogue just to make sure you could piece everything together. What is the background of the ferel boy? How do you go from a ferel boy to a werewolf? If his mother was such a big deal to him why wasn't she portrayed more? I feel that this film just tried to fit as much blood and gore as it could in its running time. They didn't make me feel any sympathy for the beast or his love.They could have done so much more with the storyline.

There seems to be an unwritten law in werewolf movies, the monster ,no matter how ferocious, is still human so at some point he must show some restraint. There is another law that applies to the wild that is called the law of fang and claw, where anything goes in the name of survival. The Wolfman complies nicely in the former while not skimping on the latter. I loved this movie, which I consider the greatest Werewolf flick of all time-bar none and I recommend it to all monster fans.

All key elements were there: excellent acting (with real actors!), good story line, excellent sets, great cinemephotography and CGI transformations were awesome!. Was not disappointed except it was too short. Comparing to Avatar - way better and real people in it too and I didn't wish it would end at any time in movie.

When the moon comes out the legend truly comes to life. Filled with action, awesome gore, and one of the best werewolf transformations I've ever seen the Wolfman is a must see for those who like werewolves and things that go bump in the night.
