Mamma Mia made the jump from Broadway to mainstreet in one big step. The stage presentation was transformed into sights and sounds by a great cast. Was surprised to hear Pierce Brosnan sing--and dance ( some). In some cases the songs/dance were over used--and extended too long. The message was sent and understood. In some cases Meryl Streep seemed uneasy in the role, and lacked depth of understanding of role she played. The role played by Colin Firth has made her a star to follow--with better direction she can be with us for a long time to come, in many films and TV. But I think she need a BROADWA role at this time to kick it up a knotch.

It was cute... a LITTLE too cheesy... somehow in Hairspray and Enchanted when the singing starts, it's not as cheesy as in this movie. And Pierce Brosnan.... stick to acting! We were cracking up every time he opened his mouth to sing! Meryl Streep is HILARIOUS! It's fun to watch her have fun! I think Colin Firth & Pierce should have switched roles. & Amanda Seyfried is SOOO adorable! You just have to love her!

This is a fun movie with the ageless music of ABBA set in a the wonderful scenery of the Greek islands; what could be better? Meryl Streep is as usual excellent and completely at home with the musical setting of this movie; who would have thought she could sing! Indeed who would have thought Pierce Bosnan could sing? This was one of the best movies I have ever seen! After it was over I wanted to sit in the theater and watch it again - but they wouldn't let me. The music and songs were intertwined beautifully with the story line. The actors and actresses were the perfect choice for the movie. This is the one movie I will watch over and over again.

I was expecting this movie to be very boring, and alot of songs to try to make up for it, another Hairspray But I'm glad I went to see this movie to my opinion could be turned around, and gotten straight! This movie was fantasic! Had me up and dancing in my seat! I felt like a teenage girl again! I guess some people would call it a Chic Flic, but men would enjoy this too! The one complaint I did have, was it seemed like there was too much sexual scenes for a PG-13 movie. I would not reccomend it to a couple with little children, but an 11-12 year old would be fine. Honey, go see Mama Mia. You will not regret this!

The best movie in a very long time!!!!!!!!! The most fun, uplifting, toe tapping, happy, delightfully feel good movie since.......I can't remember when. I could hardly control myself from singing and dancing. Never knew Meryl Streep could sing. My face hurt from smiling thru the entire movie. Just can't say enough great things about Mamma Mia. I never see a movie twice but this is a must! The entire cast is greatly matched and the acting is superb.This one is for everyone .No one could possibly be sorry to see this. "Have seen the play twice and loved it but Meryl Streep on this movie was awsome "go girl". Wishing you could dance along the aisle & sing along to the music of ABA. The beauty of the Greek Islands, the clear waters. The wonderful mother and daughter relationship. I have never written a review and everyone has it's own opinion, however this is a must see movie for all ages. Everyone in the audience was laughing and enjoying this movie. Have seen Mamma Mia twice and am going again tomorrow. Everyone wants to see it and I can't say no. Even my most sensitive friends could find nothing offensive about the movie. We all left the theatres with big smiles on our silly faces, feeling grand. Most movies today seem to be geared to 18-year old delinquents and it was nice to find a movie that anyone could enjoy.

Saw Mama Mia as a play with my adult son and we both absolutely loved it and thought it was both our favorite play ever! I remember thinking that I wish my mom was with us since it is a wonderful story/play/musically to share with your mom. Well, my Mom & I just saw the movie together last night and we both think it is the best movie we ever saw! (Great music -ABBA, great acting and fabulous imagery, humor, and sentiment!)

I went to see this movie with three girlfriends on Wednesday the 23rd of July. What a fun movie for anyone and everyone. This society is so desensitized to violence, crime, and poverty, that too many movies are based on those themes. This movie is a refreshing break from all that. The glorious setting, the uplifting music [makes you wanna dance down that dock with the cast and even reconnect with some old platform stlye footwear-ha!] Meryl Streep is ageless - what an inspiration - she looked fantastic in those rolled up overalls - Christine Baranski is always a treat to watch - I can't even find fault with Pierce Brosnan's vocals because he had the b@##$ to jump right in and take on the challenge - and he is VERY easy on the eyes. EVERYONE did a fabulous job - I will see it again and most likely buy the soundtrack as well as the movie itself! BRAVO!!!!

I saw the play on Broadway 3 times. Now I've seen the film 3 times. It's the music--ABBA's music just ignites anything you are seeing on stage or screen. It is an up--it's bright and sunny. So is this story and this film. Simple, silly, no frills--it's a fairy tale for grownups. I was apprehensive about Streep at first. I knew Walters and Baranski would be fine, and I was right. But Streep made the part her own. Maybe a bit too much laughter in her portrayal, but after the first 10 minutes, you get used to seeing the greatest actress we have in America just letting loose and having a ball. Everyone else in the film looks like they are having a great time as well. Surrender to this film and forget the flaws--it's an oasis of light and laughter in a pretty gray world. And keep your eye on the young lady who stars in it as Sophie--I hope I never read that she posed nude or married 8 times or had to go into rehab--she is an absolutely delightful young woman who will steal your heart with those eyes. And the men are TERRIFIC. Forget what the critics say--go for it!!!!

This was unlike any movie experience I have ever had. The theatre was jumping with anticipation before the start of the movie and dancing with joy at the end of it. The movie wasn't the best I have ever seen but it was the most fun I have had in a movie theatre. Meryl was amazing as usual and surprized me with her vocals. Pierce....well he can't sing but he looks good and did pull off the part of Sam. Julie was wonderfully funny. Stay as the credits are rolling. There is more fun to be had. Can't wait to see it again

Happy, funny, delightful movie. Meryl Streep was fantastic and the supporting cast great. The scenery was breathtaking. The audience applauded when the movie ended. Most of us there were 40+ and a few men there also. Thank you for giving me a fun experience.

I heard great things about this show when it was only a Broadway play. I honestly never thought that songs made famous by ABBA could actually be the backdrop to a story written so many years later after ABBA's success, but they did it! Guys, it may not be your "cup of tea" but if you really want to feel good again about life, love and your relationship, please go and take your other half to see it. She will love you for it! Ladies, if your single, get all your girlfriends together one night and make it a party! I have tickets to see this in New York on Broadway. I can't wait!!!

This movie was awesome! Meryl Stepp was fantastic, What a voice. It seemed strange to hear Pierce Bronson singing. But he was wonderful. I would like to see him in more in a role like this. Everyone was fantastic. The music and dancing, just made you feel like you wanted to be part if it. I loved it!

Definitely must be a fan of musicals or Abba to really appreciate this film. The only actor I didn't love in their role was Meryl Streep, mainly because her voice is mediocre. Christine Baranski should do as much broadway as possible - she was absolutely wonderful! I've loved Amanda Seyfried since she was on Veronica Mars, and I was pleasantly surprised by her lovely singing voice. All the menfolk held their own, but the focus was really on the ladies. All in all a nice way to spend a rainy afternoon.
