How can an 'Indy' movie ever be a bad experience? Having said that, "Crystal Skull" while visually appealing was so unfocused and underdeveloped that it wasn't the movie that it could have been. In addition the excuse that the production team has offered trying to lower expectations (i.e. 'it's just a movie...don't expect to much') seems like a cop out, because they knew that they didn't spend enough time on the script. The movie had everything going for it...a huge budget, a mass distribution deal, GREAT actors, and a great reputation to coast on and thats just exactly what it did...coasted on the reputation built by the previous films.

I loved the fact that Marion was brought back into his life. I really had such anticipation for viewing the movie...I guess that after all the things we have seen on the screen thru the years that no matter what they put Indiana thru we would still be wanting more.

I really wanted to love this film, however I did not. Just like the new StarWars films, this movie felt as though it was tainted with too much Lucas-Juice. Too corny & way too unbelievable. Wait til rental!

I felt that since everyone was expecting to see Indiana Jones as he WAS, that was not going to happen, I didn't hold my breath. The result was a fabulous incorporation of an older Indy not quite filling the shoes he used to, and the comedy that ensues. We all know and can identify with what happens to us as we get older! Yes it was a "cute" movie, but one I would not feel ashamed of watching with young children. It was a fun time, with awesome larger than life characters.

My wife and I are big Indy fans and so we made sure to see the movie opening day. We were NOT disappointed at all. Sure it follows the "Indiana Jones formula" but, hey, that's what we went for! The movie is clever, very well -done, exciting, and just plain fun at time. I get amused at film critics who try to treat an action film like a fine piece of literature. This is pure and simple escapism, and delivers. Actually the one thing I didn't like was Kate Blanchet - not her acting, her presence. I found adding her to the mix to be distracting. I'd rather have seen a 'lesser light' play the part. I will see the movie again. It's hard to take everything in the first time. Go Indy!

I love Indiana Jones. Our house has the soundtracks, the VHS and DVD movies, and my husband has read some of the older scripts. While there are many small things that can make you say, "huh?" there are two big aspects of the film that distract you and keep you from getting too into the film. The first is just common sense. There are a few moments where Indiana does things that only a cartoon could survive. By the end of the movie you realize that Jones should have been literally cooked, pulverized, smashed, and shot numerous times. Of course the real issue wasn't the normal immortality of Indiana but the ridiculousness of the crystal skull. Little changes just to the skull would have greatly increased the enjoyability of the movie. First, it looked like it was filled with tinsel of tin foil. This might be appropriate for the stage but not for a movie theater. Second it was way too big. This made it impossible to make it the proper weight for it's size and you find yourself looking at the skull rather than focusing on the story line.

While I appredciated the movie...it felt like Indy was being banished to go off and do something with a next chapter of his life. I was a little disappointed in the movie. It was great to see Indy again...but the characters and the storylines we've grown to know and love over the past (almost) 30 years deserved a better send off. The premise was good and the movie started off smart..but after an hour seemed to loose it's way. The last 1/2 hour or so, it seemed as if the screenwriters couldn't quite get their arms around a good ending, they threw something together and the director went with it with the final scene saying to the audience...'Glad it's done and the next time I EVER hear the name Indiana Jones...it better be on a royalty check...." I would give it a 3 out of 5, only out of respect for the Indiana character and not the story that involved the final chapter that we are allowed to be privy to as he goes forward.

Well, at least the main character is there, except this time its the Russians and not the Germans (had to change from n@zis since apparently that's profanity, what a terrible world we live in now, have fun on your super safe and overly edited experience on the net!) he's fighting. It seemed like they tried WAY to hard with the dialog here making for some awkward acting and cheesy lines and pauses. It just didn't naturally flow from the characters like it did in the first three, maybe the chemistry wasn't there (it wasn't). The film jumps around really quickly as well, with Indy solving mystereies way to fast to be believable, almost laughable. The final twist really took me out of the movie.

The old Jones formula seems hollow here, because the plot is weak and can't carry the film. There are too many special effects, so they dominate the movie instead of enhancing the story.

Recycled plot, but done well. Did keep my interest throughout, but no really suspenseful or exciting parts. Overall a good ride, but I would never watch it again. Some excellent special effects. Please retire Karen Allen.

It's not even worth the one star I gave it! Save your money. This movie isn't even worth TiVo-ing! That was two hours of my life I'll never get back and $10 I could've used to buy back the two gallons of gasoline I used to drive to the theatre. I truly enjoyed this movie...Thoroughly! Lucas and Speilberg NEVER disapoint! Their movies are so well made, you seem a part of every scene. Harrison Ford was terrific, as welll as the supporting actors. The plot was Fun to follow, and as always original! Since I am of the age the movie took place, I was able to remember all of the surrounding drama they used to further the theme. I could'nt wait for this movie, and it was everything I was looking for in this Summer Blockbuster! LOL...I'll be seeing this movie many more times this summer! While the opening scene is a bit odd, it really kind of throws you off (in a good way) and keeps you guessing, which is what I suspect it was meant to do. As far as the slightly cheesy/cutesy parts go...have you seen the other Indiana Jones movies? I think one of the reasons they have been so broadly popular is b/c of their ability to present such intense and action-filled moments with a light-hearted attitude. This movie was a good time all the way through. Enjoy!

I have been waiting for this sequal for 19 years just like many of you. I was excited in antisipation for another adventure filled run with Dr. Jones, however, I was so disappointed with not only the action sequences, but the acting as a whole. The opening scene was pointless, and so unbelievable it wasnt even funny. To me it looked like Ford was making a victory lap as his career winds down, I think he struggled throughout the movie trying to get the Indy charisma back, and he didnt identify with the character that once made us excited at the opening credits and left us wanting more by the ending credits. The synopsis of the movie was putrid, and very under developed. I was expecting much much more, and this film made me feel as if I should of had taken that offer I had for a few rounds of two fers at Chilis. I still rate this a 3 because I have to sympathize with Dr. Jones, this film should have not been allowed to hit the big screen, but a good DVD movie.

Harrison Ford, Cat Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf have great chemistry, and Harrison Ford still has that great, hard to define mix of bad boy charm and mature MAN!!!!
The movie combines a bit of history with lots of adventure, as well as "tips it's hat" to the importance of education and family and well as having dreams, a belief system and postive goals for yourself, as well as humanity.
For me, the world needs more heros, and the good guys need to win more often. This was great entertainment!

This version of Indiana Jones was good.. It does exactly what you would expect from the Jones series, great story, good dialogue and great characters. Lots of laughs, lots of great adventure. Fun for fans of the series and newcomers.

We had a great time at this movie. The two hours flew by. Lucas and Speilberg made some odd choices in the plot, this caught me off guard, but did not spoil my enjoyment. In a way it intrigued me even more and left me wanting to see it again. Not as good as Raiders, but still a fun summer blast.

There have been a rash of sequels for movies that were last made ten to twenty years ago. You've got your Die Hards, your Star Wars, and others we all know. I heard the rumor about a fourth Indiana Jones movie years ago and didn't know what to think. I had heard that they were going to make it in modern times which would have made absolutely no sense, so I was worried. I'm glad they went with a logical progression of the timeline to 1957. I heard that it was going to be the combo of Lucas and Spielberg again and I felt a little better, but was still skeptical. Then i got an advanced screening ticket for the 7:00 showing last night. It was PERFECT from beginning to end. EXACTLY what a sequel like this should be like. It was the same, but also totally different that the previous movies. That is a difficult thing for many directors to do, but Spielberg pulled it off wonderfully. I thought that, being 66, Harrison ford would look, well, old! But, now, he can still do everything he did before, all the whip-swinging, trap-dodging, and kiss-stealing. I love the added touch of bringing back Marion Ravenwood from Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was nice to see some continuity in the movies. The plot was great and all of the tie-ins (I won't mention specifics so as to not give away the story) throughout the movie seem well thought out, in my opinion, and are quite interesting. Overall, this movie exceeded my expectations and I predict that it will be the Blockbuster of the summer or at least be a close runner up to Iron Man.

I thought it was a great follow up -- they made sure you knew that Indy was getting old, but he still kicked some major behind. Shia LeBeouf was hilarious and added a lot to the storyline. While (of course) it wasn't as good as the original trilogy, it delivered exactly what I expected: a new adventure with old friends, not too nostalgic but with the same spirit of the trilogy.

This will not win any acadamy awards (well, maybe for stunts) but to all Indiana Jones Fans, Indie is back! It was fun, a bit over the top even for Indiana Jones, but just enjoyable to sit back, let go of reality and enjoy the campyness of it all. I would have changed the ending of the adventure to be a bit less etherial (trying not to give away the ending) but other than that it fit the mold. I must say, the most impressive is how the heck they DO all those stunts and special effects, and how they thik up all the typical Indiana Jones complexities. If you stay and watch the credits you will see the thousands of prople involved in making this movie, and understand why. Cudos to all those many folks that put in their efforts.

The blood flows faster as the music starts, not to mention the continuning 'shadow profile' of the hero thru out the film! Some will say 'it isn't this" or "that" while comparing it to the original trilogy.....Just get over it and enjoy the banter, the action and the hope that this is the begining of the new trilogy not an end of an era! We are always opening 'dayers' not just for this and will only read reviews afterwards so there is no outside influence so we were there for the opening and are taking friends again tonight and my grandchildren [yes I said grandchildren are taking me on my birthday - can't wait! Go and enjoy - feel the spirit!

Instead of looking for the "crystal skull", Indy and his less than amusing entourage should have been looking for a script. 19 years for this? There are some fun chase sequences in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" but the story is a confusing mess and there is no chemistry between characters who really weren't all that interesting to begin with. I am also one who believes that Indy works better alone or maybe even with one sidekick. Not three. There are moments in this movie that are so bad, it looks as if a high school drama team is doing their version of "Indiana Jones". I will leave you with a couple of positives. There is enough action and a few of the sets are amazing enough to keep your brain active throughout the whole picture but after 19 years, I was expecting a lot more than I received.

I have been a life long fan of the Indy movies and hit the theater as soon as I could. What a disappointment. The wit and humor of the original three films was primarily lost in this 4th installment. The action was certainly non-stop, but I felt immune to the thrill after the first hour, as boredom set in. So much of the CGI was distracting (laughing gophers anyone?) There was no suspense, I never wondered how Dr. Jones and his team would get out of the latest predicament, because the characters acted invincible! This isn't supposed to be X-men. He's an archeology professor! He suffered more from injuries and bruises in the first movies when he was 20 years younger. I yearned for the Indy of my youth were he barely scraped out of perilous situations with his wit, archaeological prowess and trusty whip. All I have to say is that this film made Phantom Menace look Oscar worthy. Oh, Steve and George! What have you done with my Indy ? And don't bother replacing him in the next movie with "Mutt" cause I won't be sold.

What's not to like? A typical, High Quality, Lucas, Spielberg, Ford collaboration. They made the right decision by not down playing the time that has passed. Harrison Ford was very believeable as a middle aged Indiana Jones. The addition of Shia LaBeouf as his sidekick worked very well. While no film of this sort will ever be confused with Hamlet it was well done and tight. Unlike some other Lucas efforts never once did I get bored or have my attention wander. Go see it!
