No, maybe it was not as great as some of the others, and that really depends who you ask, but it is still a very good movie. If you like Indiana Jones, then you WILL like this movie. I enjoyed how they incorporated Indiana's aging into the movie (i.e., he is a little rusty with the whip). Yes, there are some parts were you are anticipating something to happen, and hoping it doesn't happen, than it happens, but oh well, its an action movie. People gripe about to much CG?? Look at every other action movie out there today, this is tame by todays standards. Weren't there quite a bit of things that were a bit far fetched in the first 3? They're movies and meant to entertain you, and when you leave the theater, you will have gotten your money's worth. Bottom line, if you like action/adventure movies, then go see this, if you are a fan of artsy films, than you shouldn't have seen any of the other three either. Enjoy

Very good and solid action packed movie. When compared to the other Indy movies it may not be the best one, but it is fun and entertaining. After so many years between the 'Last Crusade' and this movie, it did feel different, but I was not disappointed. I believe watching it again will help me enjoy it further, since i'm beyond the hyped expectation phase and I can enjoy it for what it is - a great movie.

The latest installment in the IJ series did not disappoint! Ford doesn't look or act 65. For everyone who loves Indy and the films George Lucas has created you will love this one. To see Ford back as Indy you are reminded how exciting the series has been. It's as though the last movie came out yesterday. The gap in years is closed quickly as the movie opens. Action packed and never dull. As always you must suspend what is real to enjoy this movie. If the movie was true to life the first time Indy got hit he would come up with a mouth full of blood and broken teeth. Nothing is real it's just fun! I was sorry Sean Conary couldn't have been fit in somewhere. That would have made things perfect. This is a must see. If you are disappointed nothing will make you happy.

It was an Indy movie. Not as good as the original 3. CGI was pretty bad, but then again, any Lucas produced movie is. It was alright though. I've seen far worse.

I loved the first three IJ movies, but this one missed the mark. In the first couple of scenes it actually looks like they are on a stage set. The background looks dead (flat). Cate Blanchett's character acts like a cross between the evil blonde in Raiders of the Lost Arc and the german woman in the Austin Powers movies. I did like the special effects but it look like they spent too much time on that and less on the plot. Don't get me wrong there are some scenes where they are flying over some areas where the lancscape is awesome but when you leave the theater you will feel a bit let down.

Rent..Don't go to the theatre..unless it is a discount matinee. Graphics are stunning. Plot is very unrealistic even for 1957. Russians in a Communist paranoid America wandering around freely, causing disturbances? Not realistic, especially given Jones being under surveillance as a potential communist. Nuclear blast survival not possible, not even probable .
Wanted something believeable resembling the first three. This one missed the mark by a wide margin, but NOT because of the acting. The acting was great..the plot was weak.

It's easy to nit-pick, especially with a film that comes with expectations jacked up as high as this one. Sure there are anachronisms; yes, this or that relationship should have been handled differently. Big deal. It was the movie equivalent of a roller coaster ride ... fast and furious fun. I give it two stars just because it was Indy. He survived being at ground zero of a nuclear explosion by hiding in a lead refridgerator, which was subsequently shot out and crashed at least a mile away, and he walked away unscathed....Enough said.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull was not nearly as good as Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was not as good as the Temple of Doom, but I do feel it matches the Last Crusade. Although some of the effects are a little farfetched it is still a well acted and well directeed movie. The special effects are great, and Harrison Ford is the same hero he was in the '80's. Shia LaBeouf is also a great addition to this movie, and Cate Blanchett is too. Although some scenes in the movie coould have been cut short, I think Spielberg did a great job.

I had mixed feelings when I saw the Movie. Initially, it was slow starting. I guess the idea was to build the story line. However It came across as a little frantic once the action started. Almost as if they were trying to cram it all in. As an IJ enthusiast I was glad some things were explained from the first Movie, Like what happened to Miriam. To me the introduction of a son appeared to be setting it up for either passing the hat to a New Idiana or Maybe keeping it up in the air for another sequel. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, lots of facts for those who aren't familiar with the crystal skull legend to follow up on. I would recommend it just for the Hmmm factor!!

I thought this was a long time overdue. There is a lot of action that will not disappoint. If you are a fan of the Indiana Jones movies than you will love this. I do wish however they could have wrote a different story. For me the "Crystal Skull" story was not so believable but like another reviewer wrote maybe I need to learn more about this topic. If you have an active memory of 1957, you'll enjoy this film immensely. My teenager, not much of an adventure film fan anyway, gave it a ho-hum review. I, however, just loved it. The period cars, planes, buses and motorcycle were just amazing. Where did they find them all? The typical Indy action was great fun. Having a romantic interest for someone in my age group was a bonus. Caution: The ants may give you nightmares!!

I can not believe they went through that many redrafted scripts and this is the plot they came up with. The second I understood where the movie was going (only a short ways in), I sat there in disbelief until the closing credits. I would have been willing to suspend all disbelief for many outlandish plots but this one crosses the line!

This movie is great! Ilove the action and the special effects. Some of the scenes were breath taking. The only part about this movie I did not like is the aliens. This Indiana Jones movie was not as believeable as the previous movies. I wish the writers would have stayed true to form. Overall though, I highly recommend seeing this movie.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is a fun, energetic popcorn film the whole family can enjoy. While lacking the edge-of-your-seat action scenes found in the previous installments, and relying far too heavily on CGI (Shame on Mr. Spielberg for not staying true to the more believable and entertaining practical effects used to create the action of the first 3 films), the entire production crew succeeded in returning the famed, swashbuckling archeologist to the silver screen. Harrison Ford delivers on all levels, and while much has been made about his age, I could not tell any difference in the character when things got physical. In fact, from what Ford gave on screen, I think he easily has a few more 'Indy' installments left in him. This point cannot be stressed enough- Harrison Ford looked, sounded, and moved like the Indiana Jones everyone remembers from the 80’s. Shia LaBeouf and Karen Allen also entertain in the film, though it is clear Indy, not Mutt, should be center-stage should an 'Indiana Jones V' come to pass. Many hard-core Indy fans (of which I consider myself one of the biggest) will undoubtedly compare this film to its predecessors, and in doing so, find it sorely lacking in tone, dialogue, and cinematography. But, to the casual Indy fan and average movie-goer, KOTCS gets the job done and even stands tall among the myriad of stand-ins that have crashed into theaters since the man with the hat took audiences on his 'Last Crusade' in 1989. Nice to see you again, Indiana, and I hope you take us on a fifth adventure soon!

I've seen it, read the reviews and all I can say is Nay-Sayers be damned! The latest Indy is a MUST SEE for any fan of the previous movies. George Lucas did not Phantom Menace this one! Yes, there are over-the-top action sequences and a few cliche story twists you can see a mile away (which is probably why Spielberg went to such lengths to keep the plot secret) but nothing that doesn't hold true to the styles of the first three or take into account the long gap since The Last Crusade. You can also expect a lot of classic Indy humor and typical characters, both old and new that help fill out his adventure. Only wish we could have seen Sallah "You were named after the dog?" (John Rhys-Davies) and really missed the late Denholm Elliott as he portrayed the great character, Marcus Brody. I also knew enough of the Crystal Skull Legend beforehand to not be turned off by the 'far-fetched' sci-fi twist when its an established, popular theory as an explanation to how an entire advanced civilization disappeared with almost no trace in Pre-Columbian S. America. So, in short, the new Indiana Jones gives us all more of what we should HAVE ALL EXPECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. A fantastic action story with a paranormal twist and unforgettable characters. Harrison Ford will look good in a fedora when he's 100 yrs old!!

My youngest are 8 & 9. I was a little worried about the movies rating, length and scary scenes. While my kids clutched me in places (huge ants!) and there was a fair amount of violence, they did not get bored or tire out. Good fun for the entire family.

I'll admit first off that unlike most, I haven't been waiting for years for the new film. In fact, I only recently became acquainted with the Indiana Jones films. Initially, I was skeptical- and it took about 45 minutes of watching "Raiders" to recognize the series for what it is- good, solid fun, with a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheek wit and style- and hidden beneath all that, a character drama. Yes, Indiana Jones lacks the total realism we've come to expect of true "Action" films- but that's where the enjoyment comes from. The series doesn't take itself quite seriously, and neither should the film watcher- and to do so will seriously hamper ones enjoyment of the films.
Which brings us to "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". After an intensive crash course in all things Indy, I found myself anticipating the new film eagerly. I went in with the (most accepted) opinion that Raiders was the best film of the trilogy, and that it couldn't be topped. I left the theater with the sense that "Crystal Skull" was the perfect accompaniment to "Raiders", and indeed had more poignancy due to the time between sequels than any film made earlier could have.
Make no mistake, "Crystal Skull" isn't going to be nominated for Oscars, or even be held to as the penultimate action film that all future films will be judged by (an honor held and richly deserved by "Raiders"). No one involved in making this film thought it was going to be the Best Movie Ever. All this film aims to be is entertainment, in it's purest form, as well as a Thank You to the fans of the franchise. And in this capacity, the film succeeds beautifully.
As a Star Wars fan, I felt cheated when the 3 prequels were trotted out, feeling more like they were created for the sole purpose of squeezing a few billion dollars out of the franchise.
But even as a freshman "Indy" fan, I can feel the labor of love that is "Crystal Skull". No one had to come back for this- and the 19 years that this film was gestating proves that. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is a thank you to fans- and I for one am much obliged.
