Even after having read the book and having remembered many of the key points, I still found this to be an edge-of-the-seat, gripping-the-armrest thriller. The acting was uniformly top notch and the direction was outstanding. The music was not intrusive, but served as an excellent accompaniment to the story. While, regrettably, parts of the original novel had to be discarded in the interest of time, I recommend this movie highly.

Considering this is a book adaptation, the movie is very good. It is not entirely true to the book, but the interpretation is very interesting and not unreasonable. The movie is quite complimentary to the Catholic Church but without undue propaganda. The choice of actors is right on.

Ron Howard had great material to with in translating this page-turner into a movie, and yet the movie fell completely flat. The acting was unbelievable due to a script that relied on cliches, and the action simply rushed the viewer through the most sensationalist parts of the book. The changes made and the parts left out from the book version compromised the integrity of the story so much that the story feels almost unrecognizable to a viewer who has read the book.

This was an excellent movie and very true to the book. usually something is lost in the filming of a book story but Ron Howard and Tom Hanks pull it off! i would recommend seeing this to anyone instead of waiting for it to come out on dvd, as being in the theater gives you the true effect of being there with the charactors. The movie was pretty good. Ron Howard did a pretty good job of cutting out the fat. Unfortunately that "fat" is what made the book so good. Needed stronger actors especially victorria's character. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It kept moving with enough suspense to hold my interest. Also, there was enough factual back-up to make it totally believeable. I don't feel it was offensive or disrespectful to the church. Things of this sort happen in real life. It really kept my interest until the end; and, even though I had read the book, there were some surprises.

Having read the book, I knew this was Dan Brown's weakest story but even Ron Howard couldn't save it. If you like mindless action, you will love this movie but if you like a story, strong characters, and something to keep your mind engaged, there is nothing here for you. Even a great star like Tom Hanks was reduced to spouting gibberish and trying to make it sound plausible. BOTTOM LINE: Weak story that lacks the intrigue of Di Vinci Code and relies too much on stupid plot twists to try to keep your attention. Don't waste your money. Ron, no more sequels, please!

Normally I'm very hesitant to go to a movie that deals with ancient conspiracies (something that kept me away from the Pre/Se-quel "The DaVinci Code") but after some prodding from my significant other I decided to go see this movie, and I'm glad I did. The action was pretty tightly-woven and once the movie started going, it really got going. I would definitely recommend this film to anyone who likes an action movie with a hint of intellectualism.

Tom Hanks is an awesome actor in dozens of fine movies, but in the de Vinci Code & now Angels and Demons delivers a flat performance. The main character, Langdon, is a academic with a lust for knowledge, an insaciable curiousity and a critic of the church to the core with evidence that few have bothered to gather. Angels & Demons describes this man in stiff dialouge in the first few scenes- but the directing & acting transforms the story into a very drawn out murder mystery with splashes of over-the-top action. More imaginative directing and a passionate lead actor would have made this movie explode.

My brother and I saw this movie together. He really liked it, and I really didn't. It is one of those movies where you will just have to see for yourself. Well-paced and keeps your attention. Just when you think you've got the whole thing figured out, there's a wrench thrown into the mix to change things up. Backdrop of Rome is beautiful.

Detailed and paced well, Angels and Demons keeps your attention without bogging you down. The 2 hours and 20 minutes flew by- the plot is riveting and the direction is organized and thoughtful. And of course the acting,... outstanding.

I always enjoyed the Angels and Demons book more than the Da Vinci Code, but I think the films are equally as good. However, there are certainly aspects to this one that I think are better. It has incredible cinematography, a compelling story, and I personally feel that it's respectful to all thoughts on religion. The church is treated with respect, as is the science aspect.
