Very disappointing The story/script was even more implausible than the book All the chase scenes looked the same, almost as if they were using the same footage. The backdrop of Italy should have been used to better advantage and would have made for a more interesting movie. Whodunit became so obvious that it was very hard sitting thru the last 3rd of the movie. The end, the last 15 minutes, was visually more exciting but predictable story-wise.

I was a little hesitant to go to this movie. I am always scared to see movies that were once books, but I must say that this movie was amazing. Very action packed. When I can go to a 2hr 20 minute movie and retain interest til the end, I'd say I got my monies worth. I would definitely recommend it BUT remember, this is a movie, relax and enjoy it. You may even walk away knowing more than when you walked in!!!!

Good books seldom make the transition onto the screen-and this was no exception. It left out some of the juicier, controversial pieces of the book having to do with the Catholic Church's history, but still had plenty of great scenery. Hanks was good, but McGregor stole the show.

If you haven't read 'Angels and Demons', don't sweat it. While Brown does well at telling a story, 'The DaVinci Code' for now will be his Magnum Opus.
I felt blessed after watching the movie of 'Angels and Demons' that Ron Howard made some of the changes he did to the storyline to separate his movie from Dan Brown's story. There are just too many implausibilities to the book and the movie eliminates that nonsense.
For almost 2-1/2 hours, the story does push through hurriedly culminating in the 'happy ending' we seek out of these tales.
Bottom line? Not Oscar worthy, not Prime time worthy, but something worth catching at a 'Budget Cinema' or '2nd Run'. And with Howard's editing of the story, it's worthy and believable.

I enjoyed both DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons. I don't think that if you didn't care for this DaVinci, that you'll enjoy this... but if you are a fan already, go ahead and see this. I don't think that this really fills the shoes of a typical summer blockbuster, it probably would have done better at the box office if release earlier this year.
I love Ewan McGregor in this movie, well, I love him in every movie, but he makes the movie far more enjoyable by being in it.

We loved this movie. Not as good as the book, but very exciting. Some graphic parts that might cause you to cover your eyes if you are squeamish (my wife did). Tom Hanks did a great job, and the plot was much easier to follow than DaVinci Code. Plus the shots of Rome were fantastic - they reminded us of our honeymoon there!

I went to see this with my girlfriend and we both absolutely loved it. Tom Hanks is incredible as Professor Langton. Ewan McGregor was wonderful and the scenery was absolutely breath taking. Having been to Italy many times, I felt like I was in the middle of it all. The ending is a "sit on the end of your seat" kind of ending.

For someone who has never read the books Angels and Demons is extremely entertaining as my fiance found out when he and I attended the movie this past Saturday, but for me while the movie itself I found excellent, the important details and main characters left completely out or altered severely were very distracting, but that's what you get usually from movies made after books. I enjoyed the action, the Vatican history (hope it's right!), the art, and thought Hanks and Zurer were excellent. The cinematography was really good. Very suspenseful and unexpected ending. I did think the ending was a bit much - but that's a suspense/thriller movie for you. This IS fiction, after all! I'd recommend it for a fun night out. I saw it twice - once with my husband and once with my 12-year-old son. I enjoyed it both times - rare for me.

Silly and implausible -- I'm all for suspension of disbelief but this had way too many absurdities. One little piece of idiocy -- how could a high-level academic supposedly qualified to do research in the Vatican archives possibly need help translating something in Latin or Italian? And the parachute concept is way beyond belief. But then the whole plot is beyond belief. The only reason I give this two stars rather than one is because the scenery is interesting. Otherwise a total loss in my view.

I heard from a few people that this movie was better than The DaVinci Code so I decided to go see it in theaters even though I had read the book recently. I would suggest that anyone else who has read the book should wait for this movie to come out on DVD before seeing it. It's not worth the ticket price for seeing it in the theater because some of the best parts of the book were left on the editing room floor. There's no chemistry between the two main characters and many of the twists & turns that made the book so impossible to set down were lost in Hollywood. Overall it was entertaining but if I had to choose again, I'd probably go see Star Trek instead.

No build up in this movie. It goes straight to the adreniline. Very fast paced and engaging. Probably better than the Divinci Code. The plot grabs you and you forget about Tom Hanks in his previous role. Hanks' character in this movie is a facilitator (and a good one) but not the center piece like in Divinci Code. The pacing is different than most Ron Howard films...more like a Borne film.

Easy to follow the plot and the action continuously moves forward. I'm not a great fan of the books but I enjoyed this movie. My husband is an avid fan of the books and he also enjoyed how it was presented on screen.

The movie is true to the book - and the character development is superb. If you can see it in the theater - don't wait for the dvd - its really a big screen movie. While it does pan some forms of religious bigotry - it leaves you feeling a little better about the Vatican (if you're not Catholic) - and restores faith - that science and religion are really telling the same story, just in different ways. Great movie. Go see it!

Having not read the books or seeing the other movie, it was entertaining. A little long in parts but overall a good movie for a saturday.
