Just as with the books, I preferred Angels & Demons to The DaVinci Code. Angels & Demons was completely true to the book; although reading the book first did not spoil the experience at all. The movie was well-acted, suspenseful and believable. My husband and I were both riveted to our seats the entire time. We were glad we saw this in the theatre rather than waiting for the DVD. Great night out - well worth it!

It was a thrilling movie that had plenty of twists and turns, as well as the now-familiar puzzle solving plot structure. Although it was almost 2 and a half hours long, I didn't even look at my watch until there were only 10 minutes left to the movie. Definitely worth the money I paid.

This movie was better than "Davinci" but still lacked believability, especially the ending. The anti-Catholic Church sentiments in the early going were expected but really not necessary. The Tom Hanks character carried more knowledge in his head than is possible for any one human being. Having been to Rome, the visual was the best for me. Viewers should know that none of the Vatican footage was done for this movie as permission was not given to film there.

A very riveting movie that keeps the viewer spellbound from beginning to the surprising end. Although, 2 hours and 20 minutes long, it starts slowly, but picks up momentum and moves faster as the story progresses. It is a shocking presentation of the diabolical means to achieving a goal, while believing, at the same time, that this is the Will of God. Much as we see today in radical Islamism, but in this case, it is Catholicism. I re-read the book to get ready for this movie, only to find that the story line is only about 50% true to the book. Much of the story was dropped or altered due to time constraints.
That said, it's a great movie, beautiful sets and very fast paced. Ewan McGregor is a little out of place as an Italian orphan, and he never captures the fanaticism of the character but it works.

We watch movies ALL the time from Netflix and return most without watching them. This movie we saw on date night was a must see. The 2 plus hours the movie was went by so fast. I do not want to spoil the movie for others, but in simple terms the movie was about science vs. scripture. With amazing actors and unpredictible twists/turns. A good movie either takes you high/low and this movie my husband and I were analyzing and talking about a long time after the movie. I always enjoy movies that question religion and faith. Not that this movie was a "religious" movie, but the history and detail of what could be truely hidden by the church does make you think. I enjoyed Tom Hanks comment that "faith was a gift he had not yet received." The set and detail of the Vatican and Rome were amazing. It is a very adult minded movie. I had put Italy on our vacation list of some day maybe...but now I would like to see the churches and city up close much sooner than later. Ron Howard did a great job. We have already reccomended it to several people.

While the story varied greatly from the book, great acting performances were put in by Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard (Cmdr RIchter) and Pierfrancesco Favino (Inspector Olivetti). The movie was fast-paced and the 2 hr 20 min running time didn't seem that long.
The movie leaves out many of the explanations and motives from the book, along with the dialogue that makes following the path of the Illuminati some of the best parts of the book. Those who have read the book will be slightly disappointed, but the quick pace and great acting will still make it enjoyable to see. Those that haven't read the book will probably love it.

Having just returned from Rome where this movie was heavily promoted, I was anxious to see A&D, if only for the location. Although this isn't Hanks' or Howard's best work, the movie is still a good suspense film with good pacing. There are some graphic images that might be disturbing for some, but over all, A&D is entertaining and does not seem as long as the 2 1/2 hours running time. Keep your expectations in check. This is in no way a blockbuster but rather a decent Friday night flick.

This movie was incredible. The action was non stop. Literally had my heart racing the entire time. I kept guessing who was good and who was bad up until the very end and was still shocked at the outcome. Excellent movie. It's a long flick but the time flew by, never a dull moment. Much more exciting than the Davinici Code. I'm not a huge Tom Hanks fan but he was absolutely fantastic in this.

The movie as a stand-alone project is worth the time and money. Good action. Ron Howard had to cut so much out, that the story is a bit choppy, but Hanks pulls it together. I enjoyed it. I would recommend it on its own merit. However The book is light years ahead. Almost the first half of the book is missing--the female character goes to the Vatican in tank top and shorts, and the suspense, wrong turns, non-stop intrigue is mind-riveting. (Oh, and should i mention the chosen pope?). Book is Indiana Jones intense... movie is just another mystery.

Ron Howard is a great director but this is his worst. Lame acting, very easy to guess plot. We would have left except we paid 19.00 to see it so we had to at least finish the popcorn. If you are looking for a great movie this is not it. If you have nothing else to do on a hot AZ day and nothing else is playing - this film is for you. :(

My husband chose this movie, and I went to the movie expecting not to like it... I had not heard anything about it. Boy was I wrong, I was drawn into it from the beginning. I was able to follow it much better than Da Vinci Code. Lots of good twists and turns. I did not know the good guys from the bad guys till the end of the movie.

If you liked the Davinci Code then you will like Angels and Demons even more. Tom Hanks seemed very comfortable in this role. I saw the movie with someone who was unfamiliar with the book and he enjoyed it very much.
