I was not disappointed in this movie. Usually the book is much better but they did a good job of following the book. I thought the religious aspects were treated well. The Vatican and various churches and locations looked to be real. I thought they tried a bit too hard to make the action parts tense as they rushed to yet another location, alas to be too late. But the symbolism was well explained and 'credible' for a fiction story line based on some fact. I found the Vatican scenes to be extremely interesting - the archives, the process of the cardinals gathering and voting for the pope, the Swiss Guard, etc. Worth the time to see it.

The movie a was entertaining and the acting was fairly good. However, if you have read the book by Dan Brown you will either be dissapointed or you will be mad. Me? I was a little of both. The book books sub-theme is the way that science and religion are intertwined. In the movie, it omits a lot about C.E.R.N., which plays a large part in the book. The movie ommitted quite a few things that I felt were key points from the book, such as how the C.E.R.N. scientist died, how Langdon was contacted, and even the final brand. So if you have yet to read the book, the movie will be great. But if you have read the book, well....you should wait until it becomes available from your local video store.

I've read all of Dan Brown's novels, Angels and Demons having been my favorite. The first time I read it was around a year ago, right before finding out it was becoming a movie! About two weeks before the film came out, I reread the novel. I was VERY disappointed in the movie! It strayed so far away from the book that I could not enjoy the movie! For those of you that only watched the movie, I suggest reading the book!!!!!

I thought this was a much better film than The Divinci Code, with much better pace and casting. The direction of Ron Howard is evident in the smooth telling of the story. As is almost always the case, the film differs from the book but this movie does not ruin the story in doing so. After seeing this film I now have to visit Rome because I had no idea it was such a beautiful city.

Although not as good as The Da Vinci Code, it was still a very good movie. As with most movies, much of the character development from the book had to be trimmed, but the areas of focus brought the story home. The scenes throughout Rome, and the sets built to recreate the Vatican were fabulous. Clearly worth the price of admission and the time spent. A good summer time movie!

I actually think this movie was better than the Da Vinci Code. Great plot twists towards the end. If you're looking for a movie that will entertain from start to finish and has some great cinematography, this is the one. If you're looking for a movie that follows the book more closely like some of the reviewers, wait for 'Julia and Julie' or something and see if the recipes are just like they are in Child's book ;-). My 15 year old son really enjoyed the family night at the movies.

Wow, I was so happy that this movie turned out to be as great as it was. Don't get me wrong, The Da Vinci Code was a good movie, but Angels & Demons was just of higher caliber. The action/suspense was non-stop, and the ending was tremendous. Tom Hanks was incredible as Langdon, however it was Ewan McGregor as Caramelengo that stole the movie...an amazing performance.

Although it was very farfetch'd it was a very good performance. Tom Hanks was wonderful as usual. It was somewhat predictable, but it had a few surprises along with it. There were not as many signs and other things that made you think like The Davinci Code, but it was still a fun adventurous movie.

As an agnostic I'm usually in to anything that makes the Catholic Church look silly or bad. This didn't do it for me. It was Ferris Bueller goes to Rome. All the things that happen in a span of 4 hours. I could not get close to believing, or wanting to believe any of it. The sets were fantastic. Almost nothing else worked for me. Should have stopped with the Da Vinci Code.

I liked it better than the first movie. I didn't read the book, so maybe I was able to just enjoy it for what it was & didn't have any expectations other than what I saw on the screen, but I always enjoy Tom Hanks & Ewan MacGregor so I can't complain at all!! I didn't read the book and, unencumbered by the burden of expectation, I simply watched a movie. But even on that standard, this movie left me staring at the screen like a dog who's heard a high pitched sound, head tilted and brow furrowed. The characters, except for Hanks intrepid professor, were communion wafer thin and the story falls as flat as a prostrate priest. Inplausability reigns as the right details are devined at the right moment. Hank's co-stars, even the slightly oily McGregor, are wasted in a plot that asks the viewer to turn off their brain. On second thought, maybe I should have read the book.

There is only a skeletal resemblance to the Dan Brown book. Characters are minimized or eliminated, relationships changed, text plot twists and revelations are non-existent. Brown should be livid about the changes of his work and the remains that are transferred to the screen. The sets are extraordinary - you cannot tell the interiors from the real deal in Rome. Hanks works as conflicted Langdon but Zurer was not given much opportunity to do anything except look pretty. MacGregor as Camerlengo and Skarsgard as Richter were the most believable.
I was disappointed with this Ron Howard film. I had high expectations but this presentation didn't even hit the mediocre meter.

My husband and I both enjoyed this film. We'd both read the book and are big fans of: Dan Brown, Rome, Tom Hanks, and Hans Zimmer. Therefore, it would be hard for us NOT to love it. This movie stretches your mind, to think about religion, history, and high energy physics. It was clever how the screenwriters updated the book to represent 2009. The pomp and circumstance of the (faux) papal conclave and Vatican was beautiful, and it's the next best thing to going to Rome (similar to the armchair traveling you do in a Bond or Bourne movie). I also liked Ewan McGregor. The film does have violent scenes which were excessive, and I wouldn't recommend it to children.

So, I read an article that stated that Stellan Starsgard thought Dan Brown was a hack as a writer... and the only reason he did the movie was because of the script.
Well, you know what? Stellan Skarsgard is right. Dan Brown is a hack. But, that is not the point of this review.
This movie surpasses the book. It also surpasses the DaVinci Code in its ability to weave a great mystery with action. Whoever wrote the adapted script should be given an oscar because the novel was difficult to read.
Also, Tom Hanks has filled t he shoes of Robert Langdon nicely. The supporting cast was great, the pace was great and you know what...
You should go see it.

Terrific movie although character development in the movie leaves a little to be desired. Of course, for time constraint reasons details were changed as well. Overall though worth the @$22 I paid for advanced tickets.

The female character was not developed and didn't have much dialogue which was disappointing. It would have been more interesting had the other characters had been developed. This movie is action packed right from the beginning. As in true form, it has many layers and twists and turns that litterally wear you out mentally. It is easily as good as Code and may actually be better... I'm going to watch Code again today for comparison. Either way, a must see.

I recommend a familiarity with Catholic Church history and Vatican protocol; and with that, this is a very good one for entertainment. Superb threater (Bow Tie) we saw it in, too! The sound and screen size were awesome, indeed.

We kept waiting to become engaged in the drama. Didn't happen. Maybe we expected too much after all the hype and reading the book. Loved the book! The movie was like a bullet-point summary of the book. It was predictable (though I had forgotten the details of the story), perfunctory, and rather boring. While Tom Hanks is a favorite of mine, his emotionless presentation of the character got old fast. The whole movie seemed amaturish to me. Nevertheless, having fun exploring past human idiocies and their mysteries is something that always catches my attention. Liked DaVinci code more.
