All in all, I thought this was a great adaptation of the book. I realize that there were several plot points left out or altered, but this generally must be done in page to screen transfers. I'd definitely recommend this to others that are fans of suspense!

I am always at a loss about these Dan Brown books that get turned into movies. One thing I can say for certain is "Angels and Demons" is much better then "The Da Vinci Code". While both movies are a tremendous amount of words (Talk, Talk, Talk) Angels and Demons has it's amount of Dissertation like chatter, but it's still intriguing.
This installment has the renown Robert Langdon (Hanks) finding himself being summoned to Vatican City to help solve a mystery involving what appears to be the resurrection of a secret brotherhood known as the "Illuminati" which is a very powerful ancient underground organization. The Story unfolds from there... Lots of Action, Suspense, Special Effects and Violence.

I agree completely with CelticMoon. So much was changed to fit a hollywood budget film...Max Koehler missing, Carmelengo not biologically related to the pope, Vittoria not related to the researcher, no love interest between Vittoria and Robert.
Last issue just with the acting...the deep seeded connections that were in the book gave way for more intense emotions and connections between the people. I just felt a sense of urgency from everyone, not the hatred, helplessness, and other feelings that made the book so fantastic. Just never got sucked in like the book.

This one moved a lot more fluidly than The Di Vinci Code and was overall a better movie. Of course, the book was better than The Di Vinci Code, so it stands to reason that the movie would be also. The movie held true to the book as much as a movie can, so those who read the book will only feel the usual disappointment of the movie not living up to the book. All in all it was a very entertaining movie.

This was much better than Da Vinci Code. But then so was the book.
It was fast-paced. The woman playing the lead opposite Tom Hanks was far more believable than the actress in the Da Vinci Code.
Ewan McGregor was perfectly cast.

As a fan of the book I was looking forward seeing how Howard was going to deliver this intense plot. He didnt dissapoint me at all. He left the essence in the movie while providing a well thought twist at the end like he did in the DaVinci Code distancing himself from the controversial ending in the book to the faith message at the end.
The time length in the movie can not be felt. You dont have time to go to the bathroom.

I was extremely excited to see this movie after reading the book a couple of years ago. I was not disappointed. I felt that this one was more true to the book than Da Vinci Code. Obviously there were a few changes, especially in the beginning, for times' sake. Overall, worth the hype and the wait.

I was a bit disappointed in the Angels & Demons movie. I LOVED the book. However, they had to cut so much out for the movie--they actually cut out the entire Maximilian Kohler (Director of CERN) character. I realize they had to condense the storyline down to 2 hours 20 mins. There was just some important info left out. Like that the deceased Pope was Carmalengo's biological father. And Vittoria's murdered colleague was actually her Father. : /

I had read the book three times before seeing the movie. I was hoping it would be as close to the book as The DaVinci Code was. Even though it was a good movie...comparing it to the book there were vast differences. Some of the suspense that was in the book was lost in the movie. And the big twist at the end of the book wasn't even revealed in the movie. So it was a great movie if I didn't read the book...But I still enjoyed the movie.

Hardcore fans of the Robert Ludlum novel need not see the movie. The parts that made the book a winner are just not there. Performances were strong from this mixture cast but was Robert Langdon supposed to be a main character or a supporting character...? I get a little confused. Even the reactions I got from my friends who had not read the book were Luke warm at best. Ron Howard's Movie was an entertaining one-time watch, but it butchered the book and had a cheesily happy ending. Excellent performances from supporting cast, a no brainer winning plot to follow, and flawless camerawork might spare this movie from the "Bargain Bin" at Walmart, at least temporarily.

This was a very good movie, Tom Hanks was true to the role of Professor Langdon, and Ewan McGregor was beliebable as the camerlengo. The movie did not lull at all, kept moving without swaying from the plotline. Ayelet Zurer was a convincing scientist as well. All in all, a good film which all should see, and I will definitely purchase when it goes to DVD.

Angels and Demons was disappointing. While it was not a direct plot transfer from the book, I would forgive that--hardly any movies are true to the source anymore. However I found Angels and Demons to be lacking in another way: the story that the movie makers decided to tell was not better than the one in the original book. Changes made to streamline the story resulted instead in a less than interesting progression. This was supposed to be a thriller. It wouldn't even make a good travel film.

There was no suspense no surprises. From the beginning they are setting you up in typical hollywood fashion giving you people who look like bad guys but always turn out to be the good guys & the good guys turns out to be the bad guy. It has little to no action in the first act, the second act is action pact, and they try to fool you in to thinking the end of the second act is the end of the movie, but anyone with a watch knows it not, and the third act was typical detective story ending. I saw The Code & it was much better.
I never read the books but if you are a fan of them you may like this movie, but if you liked the first, or were looking for an action pack suspense story with a twist at the end look some place else.

I enjoyed this movie. My only complaint was that their was so time spent explaing things that the dialogue went on and on and on...The movie definitely kept to the book. Very fun

What a great action packed movie. Kept to the main idea of the book with not too many differences. Tom Hanks, as always a great actor, Ron Howard a terrific director. I will go back and see it again.

this movie was terrible!!! it was only 10% the book, if that....for one, there was no Maxamillian Kohler and no Moriarti, not to mention in the movie the 4th peferiti (Baggia) survives...i mean seriously wtf???!!!
please save yourself some time and movey...if you havent seen the movie dont...read the book.

Well what can I say, I've read the book 3 times, listened to the Audio Book, and seen most of the specials on TV. I was not overly disappointed with the movie. However there were key elements the story they left out in the film. I was pleased with the beginning of the movie and it was a fast paced flick from there. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Will probably see it again in the theater, but not for a while.
