I was very disappointed in the way this film was directed and scripted. Immediately from the begining Ron Howard diverted from the book and ran with his own idea of how the movie should be, leaving out several key plot and subplot characters and details. In lue of spoiling what was otherwise an ok movie, i will spare you the particulars, however I must say if you have read the book already do not waste your money at a theatre or purchasing this movie when it debuts on DVD. It is NOT worth it.

I personally like it better than DaVinci Code. I thought the Davinci was a litle slow about two thirds thru the story where he visits the old friend. However, this movie does not suffer such a slow down. I just wish Ewan McGregor would pick some roles where he sings again. He is creditable as the long suffering associate of the pope. Initially one would never suspect him of anything, but what he seems. it was entertaining seeing the familiar Roman places while hearing about their history. I am sorry, but it did not seen over 2 hours long. The script kept your attention and left you wondering as to what would happen next,no one left their seat. What can you write about Tom Hanks, he is excellent with two oscars to prove it.

It flowed well, had some very interesting characters which added to the suspense. I liked Tom Hanks but the key for me were all of the supporting cast as they added the "flavor" which put it over. Ron Howard did a nice job with the camera work and angles. It was a good movie or as I like say, "A large popcorn and large Coke movie to the MAX!"

I did not read the book and absolutely loved the movie! Two people with me, who had read the book, still really liked the movie, but those who have not read the book will like it more because it is more fun to watch when you have no idea what is going to happen. My first impression of the film, "Angels and Demons", lead me to believe that the film would be as suspenseful and as plausible as the "Da Vinci Code" had been--however, I found the film to be a bit disappointing. Aside from the fact that this film required (in my opinion) a lot of knowledge about the history of the Catholic Church to fully understand, I found it to be too contrived and, in some respects, ridiculous. I understand that fiction requires the "willing suspension of disbelief", but I found the manner in which Robert Langdon solved each mystery (within an hour, no less) to be very unbelievable. I guess I need to read the book.

Having read the book, the film follows the plot thoroughly. The cinematography of Rome and the Vatican is worth its weight in gold alone. The story and creative interpretation of the book meets with surprise, panoramic intensity and "where did that come from..." But overall a worthwhile film. Tom Hanks follows the professor's posture well but the romance part of the book seems absent in the film. I guess the perennial conflict between science and faith is played out between ideology and imagination.

I, nor my son, have read the book, so I cant really compare. The movie started a little slow, but, gained speed fast. Storyline was not disappointing, and the Italian city scenes were excellent.... makes me want to travel now...lol

Over all the imagery was nothing short of spectacular. The subject content was over explained in so many ways it seemed juvenile. Several major items from the book were changed in was that did nothing to assist the story. If you have not read the book then you will probably enjoy the movie. The movie started off at a run but finished at a crawl ripe with cliches and predictable storyline. Hanks should be firing his agent after this disaster. Many scenes in the movie were just sheer insults to the viewers' intelligence with unrealistic fight scenes and the tactical errors made by Italian police against the one evil character were painful to watch. All in all, people, there are many other better movies coming out or already showing. Do not watch this if you value your money or 2:20 hr of your time.

Angels & Demons accelerates from the very first frame and does not quit for over two hours. That is a good thing, all things considered, and there are twists and turns along the roads around Rome and the Vatican, but at the end not a lot has been accomplished. Since I am a scientist, the whole "antimatter bomb" thing is totally impossible, but it LOOKS possible, so I guess it all works. Good entertainment well worth the money.

Really good adaptation by Akiva Goldsman and David Keopp - omitted that which should be for cinematic purposes and left in the glory of Rome and the suspense of the core story. Photographed beautifully - well-directed by Ron Howard to wit the performances, especially liked Ewan MacGregor (hot even in clerical garb)!
