I really really liked this movie. I really LOVED the book. It kicks DaVinci Code off the map....Book and film... What stopped me from loving Angels and Demons are some of the really big changes from the book. The assassin is completely different...(probably to remain PC)...No Max Kohler...no creepy, heartthrobbing interaction between Langdon and assassin (2 huge scenes from the book that would have translated very well on screen were omitted)
You would be better reading the book after the movie to experience some of the omissions in the movie. But having said that, the movie is still worth going to see, if for nothing than trying to distinguish what pieces are real and what is created and weaved into reality by Dan Brown...

i enjoyed it...lots of action and excitement. A few rather large things were left out that were in the book and i still dont like the choice of Tom Hanks as Robert but it was much better than da vinci code.

I almost missed this picture due to the poor critic reviews and all the fuss over the "truth" of the story. As Ron Howard and Tom Hanks have stated - this is fiction. Just enjoy the story. And we did.
I liked this better than the DaVinci files, and recommend it to anyone who wants to go to a movie and be entertained. No great social issues, no historical insight, just entertainment. And that is what I seek.
The length looked long - but was just right. There were no lulls at midway or in the last 30 minutes. Be sure to see this movie!

It was finally enjoyable to go see a movie made from a book that held to the book itself. Granted that only 3/4 of was held to true counts but unless you wanted a 3 1/2 hour movie it had to be done in the manner it was.
I think Ron Howard is an excellent viosionary and did a fantastic job in creating this stroy on screen.
In fact he did such a fantastic job, I hope he will also make Deception Point.

I hadn't seen the original movie in some time so I was wondering how much I'd have to dig into my memory in order to understand the first one. Thankfully, not a bit! I thought this sequel was a great "stand-alone" movie... works all by itself! The plot was basically a nod to Keiffer Sutherland and "24"... just substitute Tom Hanks and you can follow this movie just fine! Jack....err Tom, has only 4 hours to save the Vatican and the Catholic faithful from a deadly bomb!
Follow the action all over Rome as only Ron Howard can do!
Good paced, easy to follow, nice date movie! The gal was superfluous, I guess a nod to needing the female audience... if only it was "Cloie"! Lol!

Loved it! I always worry when I go see a sequel - usually not as good as the first, buy time until the third of the series comes out, but that was NOT THE CASE WITH THIS ONE!!! Great Momentum! Great plot! And actually, this one could stand on it's own! Cast, story, action and effects were great!

I lost all sympathy for the victims when they chose to ignore the bomb threat and refused to evacuate the grounds. Even though the story is cleverly written and Tom Hank's performance is strong (as expected) this movie drags. It lacks creativity and seems formulaic. I spent the 2nd half waiting for it to end. Ron Howard should step asside. I'm sick of seeing budget, talent, and good stories squandered by him.

I thought it was a great movie. If someone hasn't read the book they will think it's great. If you HAVE read the book, you'll notice a huge plotline of the book not even mentioned. About 3/4 of the movie is pretty true to the book, the last 1/4...isn't so much.

Hollywood must get a great discount on things that go "boom". Were their leftovers from Apollo 13? Helicopter scene with skylight & the parachute was Hollywood trite.
Shame on Brown for butchering his own great work. Would have been a GREAT movie if you left the riviting character plots & backstories. Guess that proves anyone will sell out their work if the price is right.
Went with someone who did not read the book and told him little, and he was often confused.

I was worried that this movie would not be able to hold up to The Davinci Code. But, it surpassed it in quality and mystery! Just when you think you have the whole conspiracy figured out, the plot makes a dramatic, unexpected twist. Great movie, definitely worth the 2 hrs. to watch it!

Only Hollywoood can take the prequel to a book and make it a sequel to a movie! When the pope dies, the cardinals get together to elect a new pope. Four of the lead contenders are kidnapped and will be killed off one by one. Enter Hanks reprising his Langdon role who just happens to be familiar with the Illuminati, an underground religious sect holding the cardinals captive. He pulls another all-nighter solving the case and it is great. The plot works, makes sense, falls into place like a domino effect. I read the book and the film is just as fascinating, a real nail biter. McGregor is great as the camerlengo, the priest in charge while the cardinals choose the pope. Plot twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Generally a good movie. Though I thought I knew where the plot was going, I was totally deceived. People who seemed evil were good; people who seemed good were evil. If the real world were like this, we wouldn't be able to evaluate character properly, because nobody is who they seem. It is well that this movie defied common sense, otherwise it wouldn't have much shock value.

Mostly good acting, great cinematography, but the storyline was too frequently trite and predictable. I haven't read the book, maybe it was as well, but it was irritating at points. The Catholic-bashing is a little old as well at this point. Tom Hanks has established himself as the leader of the anti-Catholic movement in Hollywood...fine, its his world, but it does detract from his film making. This movie is worth watching on television if it's a slow night.

I am not reviewing the book, as some mentioned, since books have rarely translated into film as written. That's what imagination is for. As a movie, I would say that this translates very well. The plot was laid out very deliberately so that it could be easily absorbed. There was suspense that kept building and receding so that the climax was as rewarding to myself as it was to the characters. I would call this the thinking man's Indiana Jones, and it does not disappoint, but don't take my word for it. See for yourself. I'm sure you will agree. Definitely ten notches above the first.

I really enjoyed this movie. I tried to read the book before the movie came out but I couldn't. I went to see Angels and Demons with my friend who read the book, and from what I have read and since he read the book we could tell that the movie was totally different than the book. But I enjoyed the movie and will see it again!

The movie was entertaining and action packed. I had read the book and was not disappointed in the movie, in spite of the fact that the ending was altered, slightly.

Calm down people. It is a movie. This movie was excellent and very fast paced. So it did not completely conform to the book....big deal...it's a movie and a good one at that. I loved Tom Hanks and thought he was great again. Not Oscar worthy at all but played a great role once again.

Seeing as I read the book it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad, but I'm sure anyone that hasn't read the book would surely like to see this movie. I mean no movie will ever be exactly the same as a book, and I can actually tell only a few details different, and it didn't seem to ruin it.
