A bore. Unless you're suffering from insomnia, don't spend your hard earned on this one. Hanks mails this one in, and I don't blame him. Excessive exposition throughout the dialogue, and throughout the action sequences it's as if they are telling you you're supposed to be scared and thrilled and if you are not, then it's you not them that's stunade (stupid). Also, a very predictable plot, and I have not read any of the books. One more thing that I did not appreciate, anyone that actually believes in the sanctity of life is depicted as if they are obtuse.

Nearly 2.5 hours of enthralling, exciting entertainment. Filled with twists and turns - making the movie anything but predictable. The "clues" were sometimes figured out too easily. It's nice to be able to enjoy a movie with our teenage children!!

I never read the book so basing my opinion on the movie itself, I would say it was well made and the acting was great. besides hanks who always puts in a top notch performance, mcgregor adds to star power and does a fantastic job making the audience beleive the sincerity of his character. Without giving away the ending, it seems ron howard was able to mix hollywood and the church without offending your average moviegoer.

For those of you who have not read the book, you will enjoy this movie. If you have read the book, the movie is still good, but you will notice the changes, possibly done for time constraints. The story behind the reporters is completely gone. Vittoria's clothing issue is left out. There's alot that was left out. The end was changed greatly. The book, as usual, was so much better.
Still, the movie holds it's own, and was enjoyable.

Not as emotionally charged as the first, it suprised me by its portrayal of the Catholic church in a very gentle light, and the suspense is much more toned down. A nice break from the extreme sport style of most action thrillers.

I found this movie to be better than it's predecessor. Of course, I found the same with the Dan Brown book. I believe that Tom Hanks was better in this than the Da Vinci Code. Once again Ron Howard had me hanging on the edge of my seat. Although it's been a number of years since I read the book, the plot came flooding back as the movie unfolded. Being the religious sort I was neither offended or pleased with the Catholic storyline. It was a story told and my interpretation was on of a few hours to entertain. I certainly don't interpret anything from Hollywood as the gospel truth, just the magic of movies for their entertainment value. Ron Howard certainly gave me that!

I had a lot of expectation of this movie, but it's not that different than other regular movies that have suspense and trying to figure out "whodonit". This movie is not worth the hype nor can it be compared to Davinci code. Tom Hanks did good acting, but story wasn't strong enough.

I reread the book just before going to see the movie. I noticed a lot of differences in plot points and characters, some major, some not. I think they made certain changes for the sake of moving the story along, while the book takes it's time to unravel clues. Both work, and the movie still allows for the book to be appreciated in its own right.

Having read this book and DaVinci Code I think the movie was masterful in joining the two and while I realize there were more than several changes from the book the changes were well integrated and while it left lines missing from the original it was still most enjoyable. I also found the relationship between Vittoria and Robert more believable in the film than in the book. Great job of adaptation and of course always marvelous acting by Mr. Hanks and Mr. McGregor who is so often overlooked.

My wife and I have both read the book and agree that the movie doesn't touch on a lot of what made the book good...having said that the movie is OK. Beautifully staged and acted. I loved the book, and while its difficult to capture all the nuances and detail of the novel in a 2h 20m film, the basic story with all its plot twists was there. The musical score was lovely and supportive; and the acting of the secondary characters was particularly fine. Best film I've seen in a long time.
