This was the best movie I've seen in a long long time!!! I loved Avatar, and Alice in Wonderland, but this one was far better than either of those!!! Doesn't matter if you have kids, go see it anyway, and for those of you that DO have kids, IT'S a CLEAN wholesome movie!!! I've been so tired of "kids" movies that are innopropriate for kids to see, but this one is great!!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Excellent animation. The dragons were very realistic. A really good story line for the kids. Just because someone else tells you something is bad doesn't always mean it's so. I loved the part with the dragon chasing the light, kids can relate to it real easily with pets at home.

My family and I had a great time watching this movie. My husband and I laughed outright in quite a few spots and our 5-year-old loved it all! He can't stop talking about the movie. As a matter of fact he had to pee just as the movie started but held it throughout (which he never does!) so he wouldn't miss anything. The animation is great, the detail is stunning and though it's 3D they don't go over the top with cheesy "in your face" moves to remind you. The 3D aspect is more of an enhancement to the storyline and action vs. the major element. If 3D normally makes you uneasy at a theater you probably won't have this experience here. I don't want to spoil the ending for anyone but there's a nice twist at the very end that will warm many parents' hearts. They don't make a big deal out of it and it's woven into the end of the storyline tastefully and with humor. All in all a really great movie destined to be a classic!!

I took my 9 year old grandson to see this movie in 3D. It was his first 3D experience. I must say that both he and I totally enjoyed the movie. The colors, sounds, characters, and theme were not only brilliant, but also a learning experience. We have been to several movies together (grandma and grandson treat), but this time he was totally engrossed in not only the action, but the story line. He has told every child in the neighborhood about what a fantastic movie it was and that "you gotta go see it!" He is looking forward to owning the movie when it comes out on DVD. In the meantime, he is already collecting cards and has a T-shirt. Great job by all involved in the evolution of How to Train Your Dragon.

This is the best animated film that I have seen in a while. My son, 8, of course, loved it, but so did my 4 year old daughter. I loved the dragons. Being a cat lover, I felt whoever created these dragons were cat lovers, too. The message behind the movie was thoughtful without being boorish. On many levels this is a must see movie.

I found myself genuinely smiling throughout this movie, it wasn't even over and I knew it was going to be my favorite. I like movies but I don't pick favorites lightly! I took my 6yr old and it was a great big hit with her aswell. One of the few movies I am willing to go back to see in the theatre, with or without 3D.

Opens our imgaination to new possibilities. Pure fuel for dreaming about new appraoches to working together. All heroes affirm their own identity in the face of abandonment.--therein lies their stength.
Th animation summons the art work of Caravaggio ( Italian painter, 1571-1610) using dramatic but effective infused lighting where the endges of the frame turn dark almost melting into space.
3 D leads us into broad spectrum view points. In one scene, as the star and dragon fly almost vertically into the clouds you can allmost feel the -G's !
This art not squandered here.
Well done.

Forget the incredible 3-D effects! Forget the awesome CG action! This is a wonderful movie for both children and adults. There are two major messages in this delightful movie. First, your 'enemy' may just be just as scared as you are, and perhaps getting to really know them may turn them into your friend instead. And second, everyone has something special to contribute, so don't judge them but try to discover what their special something is.

Don't expect it to be like the books, it is completely different and if you can stop thinking that Vikings did not have Scottish or American accents, it's a great fun story, it's funny and exciting! 3D effects were good too, especially the ash at the end!

Better. Than. Avatar. James Cameron can wrap anti-imperialist cliches in pretty colors all he wants but did not even come close to Dragon's aerodynamics, pulse, and, above all, story. No preachy morality tales but clear messaging on helpless animals (both simian and reptile) trapped in a systematic failure to gain situational awareness. Well done, worth viewing, and a clear candidate for awards. Be sure to see it in 3D.

I was looking forward to seeing this for the voice talent just as much as the visuals. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was great. The story was strong and the visuals were amazing. Although I do have to agree with a review that I read before I saw this that this movie may be a little much for younger children. There were several children that their parents wound up takng them out of the theater. But I would say if your child is mature enough no matter the age, it is well worth seeing.

Probably a classic that will go down in the nation's history. Great for kids, a little parts are jumpy and scary but mostly it's just like an ordinary animated movie. I recommend this movie to everyone that is a fan of animated and action movies. Go enjoy this movie! Worth every penny. P.S: The 3D is spectacular! Best 3D movie since Alice in Wonderland and Avatar.

This movie is destined to be a classic! I attended the late night showing and, even in a theater full of only adults, the laughter, gasps, and applause was non-stop! I would say that's pretty rare for a family-oriented animated movie. How To Train Your Dragon is a wonderful movie: witty, heartwarming, engaging, and truly funny. It's a fantastic adventure good for all ages. I highly recommend seeing it again and again!

I went into this movie, at the local IMAX theater for the 3D version, with very low expectations which turned out to be a great idea. I enjoyed the movie immensely, and so did the two other friends I went to see it with.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much the movie was cute, fun, funny (especially for us adults) and then it kept getting better. I would just have to say, a lot of these computer animated movies as well as normal animated movies, are tending to be catered to adults, rather than children. Not complaining here, just saying.

I went with my kids (18,12). We all loved the movie . There were lots of funny parts that had us laughing but I don't think it was worth the extra expense of seeing it in 3-D and wearing those uncomfortable glasses which distracted from enjoying the movie. It is DEFINITELY worth seeing but save the added expense of 3D and put the money to the snacks instead.
