I thought that "How to Train Your Dragon" would be good- but I was blown away. The story is so cute! My 6 year old daughter and I now want to get our own "Toothless"!! The 3D effects were fantastic- added to the movie- did not take it over or make us feel sick. Really good movie!! In a theater FULL of kids- no one got up at the end- everyone stayed for the credits!

This isn't just a kids movie. Yes it has a lot of dialogue and actions that appeal to kids but it is a parable about the fear of being different. The dragons except the 'Queen' are drawn cute and loveable enough for kids to cuddle, in spite of the dragons being treated like vermin to be exterminated. Also the theme of manhood being defined by one's ability to kill - is a deeper issue this story addresses. There are some violent scenes but they are more than compensated for by the outcomes so it is perfectly appropriate for the little ones - and holds as much interest for the big ones too.

This movie far exceeded my expectations! The story was touching, thoughtful and sweet. I brought my 3 1/2 yr old son and my 10 yr old niece and all three of us were at the edge of our seats. Some nice lessons in the movie without being it being in your face. Wonderful film for all!

my children and I enjoyed this movie a lot. this is a movie I know, that when it comes out on dvd my kids will watch over and over again. I already got them collectible toys from mc D's. can't wait for more things to come out for it, it is so worth it. I have 5 kids all ranging from teen to toddler, and it was thumbs up from us all.

We took 13 people for my sons 3rd birthday. It was a wonderful film. It had a couple spots that were a little intense, but it didn't seem to effect the kids. All eyes were glued to the screen the entire time.

Took 5 and 6 year olds to movie after doing some research to see why it was rated PG. We had no problems with the content at all for either child. There is some violence with the Vikings fighting the dragons but nothing over the top...might be a bit scary for kids under 5 but we had no problems. One of the best movies we've taken our kids too lately and the overal moral of the picture was one of doing the right thing. Highly recommend

The makers of the movie made one BIG mistake, though. Vikings don't come with Irish accents!!!! They should have had them have Scandinavian accents!!!!

One of the best movies I've seen in a while and the 3D effects were spectacular. I attended with my 4 year old daughter and she was mesmerized - she never took her eyes off the screen. a very fun movie. Scary bits for kids under 8. All the Vikings, cept for the kids have "scottish" accents which is Odd..and it is predictable.
but the animation, plot and characters are all fun and fresh.

We could NOT wait to see this movie since we saw the vignettes on the Olympics.... I have 3 daughters and I was just as excited as they were. My husband and I took them to the special screening before the release in Oklahoma City and WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! The effects were breathtaking as was the 3D!!! The colors and the detail in EVERYTHING was just spectacular! We went again last night on opening weekend and loved it every bit as much as the first time! Immediately after we saw the special screening I got on my facebook acct and told everyone how AWESOME it was! A great story....we LOVED the dragons and the vikings were terrific too! Craig Ferguson is one of my fav Scots and he and Gerard were magnificient! :D Loved it Loved it Loved it and we will even OWN the dvd when that comes out! :D

I HIGHLY recommend this fantastic family friendly movie, that is NOT just for kids--it definitely has story enough to keep the adults entertained as well. I went because my girlfriend wanted to go. Now I'm very glad I did.
The animation was very good, as were the 3D effects, and the characters were enjoyable and easily identified with. The story was good, and the pace of the movie was just about perfect.

Superbly crafted film done in true 3D. Dreamworks really pulled out all the stops with this one. Every aspect of it was a home run including voice acting, character animation, scenery, lighting, camera work, music, and most of all, story. Pixar better step it up if they're gonna compete with this one.

We all thought the movie was awesome. I went with my 2 grandchildren Jeremy 13 & Jozelle 7. The 3D effects were great. I have not seen a 3D movie since the old blue & red glasses and this was far superior. Not only did things come out and go into the screen but the screen actually had depth. We highly recommend it to everyone.

This was a great movie and would recommend it in 3D. I took my 7 yer old and 5 of his friends to see it and they all loved it! I think it would be good for kids over the age of 6, but younger ones might get a little scared or bored (a bit over their head).
