I took my 4 yr old and 9 yr old to the 3D version, which was amazing. The details on the characters and the visual effects were great in 3D and the story was touching and fun at the same time. A great family movie.

I viewed this with my greatgranddaughter who is 7 and my grandsons who are 6 and 4. I, and they, thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I believe the 3D made it even better for all of us. I would recommend this movie to anyone with young children and the grandparents won't be bored.

Took my two kids 7 and 5 to see it in 3D. What a great movie. The story is wonderful and the effects are amazing. The 5 yr old wasn't into the effects as much as the 7 yr old, but both really liked it. Definitely held their attention for the entire time. I recommend this movie to any family.

This movie was wonderful - we took our 5 year old to see it and she immediately wanted to know when she could see it again. She was glued to her seat for the entire movie! i saw the movie in 3D with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed it. Good characters, terrific story, great visuals - i liked how the dragons had different personalities and looked very different, and a very happy ending included - go team! It is a fun movie with good humor for all ages.

I regularly take my 5 year old niece to all the kids movie and for a while I have been very disappointed in the movies out there marketed for children. This movie was absolutely a great kids movie but it was also something I really enjoyed. The part I enjoyed the most was not having to spend an hour after the movie explaining to my niece what was going on. I highly recommended this movie for the family!

I brought my 6 yr old daughter to see this - and we both loved it! It doesn't drag at all , the characters are well developed (with efficiency!) and the relationships are defined. For the kids, the effects and the animation are great, Toothless is lovable and the characters are funny and likable. Wish it was longer!

This was definitely a "feel good" movie. We took 4 of our grandchildren to see it. The 5, 6, and 8 year olds were mesmerized. The 2 year old was frightened. So, the moral of the story is that the real little ones probably shouldn't see it. She did better when she took the 3D glasses off. Several wholesome messages were communicated. And I even shed a tear at the end. If you're a softy, so will you!

Many times it is hard to find something that the entire family falls in love with being we have 3 girls ages 4, 6, and 10 but this was the one movie we all hands down loved more than anything we have seen in years! (Yes, including Wall-E, Alice in Wonderland, etc.) I think the only movie that came close to this was Kung Fu Panda but the 3D of this movie just put How to Train Your Dragon over the top. This was a great movie for both my wife and I and our 6-year old. The flying sequences are AMAZING and the story is good enough to keep adults interested. I liked the relationship built between the boy and the dragon as it felt organic and not forced - I highly recommend seeing this!

The animation, backgrounds and 3-D fx were great. The themes and message are really not new, but classic. The idea that being different might be your strength is a very good message for kids. The voiceovers were great. The film kept you engaged from beginning to end and really invested in the characters! It's a keeper!

Brought my kids to this movie - my daughter usually falls asleep in the theater, however, this time, the movie kept her attention the whole time and she loved it!!

This is a good one for daddy day. Has a great message about understanding between parents-kids and species-species. Also touches girl empowerment. Curiously, mothers are nowhere to be found in this, but there is a hilarious reference to the Viking dress for women. Very manly movie, but as a female, I really wasn't put off.
Apart from the message, the story was engaging, the graphics were terrific, and pet dragon was very expressive. The voice actors do a great job. Jay Baruchel did roughly the same character as "She's out of my league" and it worked here also. My bone to pick is only that Vikings are Norse, not Scots--Craig Ferguson and Gerald Butler are very distinctive Scots. They both do bluster well, which fit the part, if not the history.
