terrible, totally unsuitable for kids, I regret not reading all the reviews as some were honest enough to spell out the extent of the violence and destruction that is the movie. We had to walk out as a virtual 1/2 hour of of continuous destructive violence/killing and fighting certainly is not what we were expecting for our grandchild. This is just further proof that with enough hype you can "build it and they will come"

I've seen it in 2D and in 3D both are spectacular the 3D is not gimmicky at all, it really enhances the whole experience. It's worth the extra couple bucks.

How To Train Your Dragon is a delightful family film, entertaining for all members of the family. It seems to follow Disney/Pixar's UP in creating a film that is family friendly but with a strong story and a mature feel to it that doesn't overtly scare younger kids but doesn't bore the grown ups.
Voice acting is excellent, America Ferrara is fun as Astrid, tough Viking girl and Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, the unlikely Viking and even more unlikely hero of the story. Gerard Butler does a Viking justice as Stoick, father of Hiccup and the manliest Viking around.

Loved this movie, equally fun for kids and adults! Lots of action, and the the 3D made it more enjoyable, especially the flying scenes.
Only caveat - it may be a bit scary for really young, or sensitive, kids. My 6 year old niece hid from most of the fight scenes.

Terrific movie with a really good message for all. The fact that it is in 3D just adds more fun and excitement to the action. Our 7 year-old granddaughter fell in love with "Toothless" and all of the dragons; wasn't scared at all!

How to Train Your Dragon in 3-D was one of the best film-going experiences ever! If you like animation it ranks with the best of the genre: Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Avatar, Final Fantasy, Monsters Inc, Etc... I enjoyed it immensely for the excellent plot, humor, imagination, whimsicality, and message of the film, not to mention the incredible 3-D graphics, imaginative landscapes, and quality voice acting. This is truly a film for all-ages.

This movie had everything from an original story line to amazing 3D animation. I took my nine year old son and he really liked it. The plot carefully evolved into some emotional situations and conflicts but nothing too much for young children. I also took note that the story tried teaching some values about peace and understanding over acts of violence which is addressed but not overbearing. These movies are like small masterpieces.
