Great graphics, great dialogue, great story line and never a dull moment. Needless to say I am a great fan of comedy and Jack Black. This film did not disappoint. I was a little hesitant at first but throughout the movie I found myself laughing a lot. All the people including children were laughing. So from the standpoint of connecting with young and old alike it scores big. Definitely recommend this flick to all who enjoy a good movie. But to all who enjoy a good laugh and the comedy from Jack Black, you are in for a treat.

My friend and I, both in our 40s, were looking for something just off the wall and funny to relieve a stressful week and decided to see Kung Fu Panda. We laughed and laughed! But we also really enjoyed the affirmations of not quitting, being the best you can be as you are, and knowing all about the "secret ingredient." This movie has a positive message that works and is applicable to everyone. The technical aspects of the film were wonderful. Good visuals, dark scenes not too dark, volume level acceptable in highs and lows. Length of the film was just right for optimum attention. My only complaint was the use of some slang that I felt was inappropropriate for children under 13. The use of the word "suck" was not necessary and in poor taste for a movie that is marketed to young children. The word "stink" would have been a better choice. I don't think the martial arts scenes, for which the film has its PG rating, is of that much concern unless a child has never seen cartoons before which is not likely. All in all, a good film for young and old, but parents should definitely converse about the inappropriate use of some words afterward to help stave off that kind of talk from their little ones as long as possible. And there are good talking points to help reinforce a child's natural abilities to shine without having to be exactly a certain way (super skinny or super popular, etc).

So much goes into making animated movies these days. Alot of which goes way beyond the grasp of young minds. Sometimes the jokes and the double entendre goes right over the heads of small viewers. One great thing about this movie is the unlikely hero...a chubby, out-of-shape Panda. It is refreshing to not have your typical role model. This is great to build on after the movie with children, to discuss how if they put their mind to something, they can do it!!! Also how even Typical Disney with a main character with no mother. This is a great film. Parents and children will enjoy it! There's enough slap stick humor to keep the kids laughing throughout the entire film. Kung Fu Panda, while a safe movie to take the family, left me a bit disappointed. The story line was VERY predictable. With exception of Po, Master Shifu and Tai Lung, the rest of the cast was completely undeveloped. By the end of the movie, you didn't even know their names. (Luckily all you have to do is put "Master" in front of the name of the animal.) There was certainly no connection to any of the other characters. Were it not for the marketing angles, you didn't even need them in the movie. The movie zipped along, had some laugh out loud moments, with Po becoming a Kung Fu master with two days of training? The kids enjoyed the "fat panda" jokes. This will not rank among our favorite 20 animated movies.

It was great, actually had some great action. Humor was great. I have a 3 year old and she was a little anxious about the fighting/karate, it was a little bit much for her, but she did fine, she wasn't crying, just a little nervous and looked away. I'd say it is geared more towards 8 and up, but the little kiddos can definitely still watch it, it was GREAT! I really enjoyed it.

I was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews. It is too much of a formula: the accidental hero, believe in yourself etc. etc.. but we have to remember this is for children. That said, the movie is too violent and scary for smaller children. The martial arts scenes morphed into high explosion battles (in one case even nuclear). Way over the top and scary.
The movie is very funny, though. The audience was loudly laughing and clapping at the end of the movie. I was entertained not bored which is a lot to say when going to an animated movie not done by Pixar.

When we left the theater he asked if we could go buy it at the store. My 21/2 year old loves movies, but didn't really get into this one.

My 10yr old son and I saw this movie today and it was so much fun to watch. The animation is lively, colorful, and fun! The Panda is hilarious. There is even a great story to follow. The characters are all animals with human characteristics. There were so many funny parts of the movie that I found myself chuckling almost hysterically...I felt like a kid again!!!!!! We absolutely loved this movie and would HIGHLY recommend this to watch.

This movie takes many Martial Arts themes and melds it into one. Put in an out of shape panda and a small master determined to show his old master that the choice the old one made was wrong! Now top that with great voices, a well written script reminiscent of old dubbed martial arts movies and very good animations you have an over all GREAT movie!
