Overall I would recommend the movie to kids aged 6 and up. The movies was found to be entertaining by my 6 & 9 yr old daughters attending with me. It was obviously a kung fu theme, which I found to be more violent than my expectations. I know kung fu includes kicks, strikes, hitting, sometimes using objects but this was nearly non-stop assaults in every angle with every possible article (dishware, trees, buildings, fireworks, chains, etc.) to virtually every character. I tried to refocus my daughters experience to the lesson Po learned about the greatest power: believing in oneself....but it gets lost on action-packed violence in color-rich backgrounds and a gratuitious evil villian. They needed more humor, less violence, and even for a children's move, a little more character development among the kung fu experts. Younger children may be frightened by the huge overwhelming screen visual presence of the villian...my 6 yr old covered her eyes. She didnt even cover her eyes in the recent Crystal Skull movie--that tells me something.

Humor, action and great story telling make this movie a must see. The movie is a computer animated master piece that should go down in history as one of the most entertaining movies for everyone in the family. The PG rating was a must, because many of the themes that are explored through this movie need an older audience to appreciate, and there are some violent yet well CGI choreographed fight scenes. However, the animation makes the movie especially entertaining for the younger audience member enticing them with colors and beautiful settings.. The main premise that surrounds this movie is Po's, Jack Black's character, journey to learn to believe in himself and acknowledge that he is "The One." The journey of this Panda brings him from a humble existence as a waiter at the family's restaurant to high above the village upon the mountain top where he learns that it is up to him to be the Dragon Warrior and save the valley from the evil grasps of an escaped prisoner. The journey begins as a physical one where the protagonist needs to over come his weight issues, but like many people that have weight issues there are self esteem issues that become apparent. This is when the journey turns inward, and the philosophical journey overpowers the physical. Po needs to learn that he needs to see himself as a hero to be able to be a hero. Watch for the line "There is no secret ingredient." This message becomes invaluable to push Po to his final enlightenment to where he believes that he can overcome the evil oppression. The movie is well written and the collection of cast members enhances the feeling of the power of the journey, placing it in the ranks of adventure movies like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Harry Potter. The movie forces the audience to search their own soul to see if they have what it takes to be a hero.

I enjoyed this movie, but it is definitely intended for the older kiddos. Maybe 8 & up. My 5 and 3 year olds were a bit scared. I also did not like the fact that it teaches kids that it is somehow not ok to be overweight. My children are fit as they could be, but I always tell them that people come in different sizes and that we respect all people. Although in the end the FAT panda turns out being the "Master", the continuous insults about his weight are difficult to swallow when trying to teach your kids otherwise.

I'm a mom of a 5 year old who has never seen Shreck (yes, place gasps of shock and amazement here). I'm not a fan of "potty humor", and would actually like my daughter to not belch on cue. Kung Fu Panda was for the most part harmless in these aspects. Only one "I'm gonna pe*" and one other mild potty reference. No blood, no gore, the violence was more slap-stick than realistic, and the only scary part I felt was the ticket and concession prices.

It seems lately that the only way movies get kids to laugh is with vulger behavior. They take for granted that kids can't appreciate true humor. It was refreshing to see that Kung Fu Panda finally realized that kids have a brain and don't need a bodily function every 5 minutes to make them laugh. I get enough of that at home. I would definitely recommend this fim to any parent looking for true humor and enjoyment.

We took our two children, 8 and 6, to see this opening day. They have been excited to see it since watching so many commercials about it. They were not dissappointed! It was fun to see them laugh out loud. My husband and I also enjoyed it. It's a very cute movie!

I like this movie because it is full of Kung Fu, fun, and shows a different culture. I hope they make a sequel to Kung Fu Panda very soon.

The movie was so enjoyable. There was never a dull moment. The humor and action scenes were great!!! Jack Black and the rest of the cast really made the movie. It brought me back to the days of Kung Fu Theater. My son said he didn't fall asleep, so that is a good thing.
