I took my 9 year old son (a taekwondo student) and three of his friends to this movie. They loved it. The silly antics of the panda had them cracking up. I think the violence was a little much for the younger crowd. But the middle-to-upper elementary grades would love it. Having just returned 3 weeks ago from China with our newly adopted daughter, it was fun to see the Chinese architecture and landscape in the background, too. Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black did a great job with voices.

This film was well drawn and well-paced. There were a lot of chuckles and a couple of outright guffaws. Kudos for not having to stoop to bathroom humor--no uncomfortable bodily function jokes. Although it's kind of formulaic, the message comes through in a surprising way. There are obvious nods to martial arts films of the past which give this film a lot of adult satisfaction. I'd watch it again just to catch some of the subtleties that we missed the first time.

Our whole family went to see this film - kids are ages 12 and 15. We all enjoyed it. Jack Black is a hoot. The panda is certainly a different kinds of hero. He wins his battles in his own special way.

We saw the movie with my son, for his 10th year old birthday party. We took nine off his best friends and classmates. We all thought the movie ranked from very good to excellent. I thought the movie had great animation and I was picturing each character as to what they would look like in a real life Kung Fu movie. I thought the story line was awesome. This was as funny and entertaining as the previews hyped it to be. For anyone who has seen live-action martial arts movies like "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu Hustle," the formula will seem very similar. Overall I liked the movie, although it had some strong dark areas. The action was excellent, the animation was of course great and I thought the actors/ actresses were well chosen for the characters they spoke for. My almost 4 yr. old son liked it and actually made it through the whole movie. That says enough right there for the action content! Never a dull moment! We will be buying this on DVD.

Our kids loved it and it was the perfect length given kids under 10 cannot sit thru longer than an hour and a half. I wasn't sure that our girls, age 5 and 8, liked it or not bc they were pretty quiet throughout the movie. However, they explained to me afterwards that I was laughing so hard, even maybe the loudest in the packed theater. Oops!! I thought it was funny...many jokes were meant for parents only...meaning only adults would be able to GET IT!!! I was pleasantly surprised with how well the characters were cast..Jack Black was the perfect Panda...I actually saw the Panda, Po, as if it were Jack Black. Good Movie, however it wasn't anything so special that I will remember it or it will stand out in a few months. I am still having a problem with paying $7.50 for my kids and $9.50 for my husband and I. Bc of these insane prices, we tend to rent the majority of the time. If anyone is wondering whether they should wait for the DVD, my opinion is definitely WAIT!! Julie (Alex and Haley's Mom)

We took our 4-year old and a friend to see Kung Fu Panda. They had a blast and thought it was very funny. Hubby and I thought it was pretty good - Jack Black made the Panda who he was. Fun for entire family, too bad the 15 y/o children sitting behind us were not with their family. The movie was not worth $9 per ticket and the experience will keep us at home waiting for DVD release. Until theaters start enforcing "parental presence" rather than just "parental guidance" to the parking lot drop off...there just isn't any reason to waste time and money at the brat pack babysitter palace.

Wasn't sure I would like this movie based on the commercials and trailer, but needed a kid friendly movie for my girls. I was pleasantly surprised on how much I liked it. Great message and entertaining enough for the adults in the crowd. My kids loved it, too! It was a big hit all around.

I am reviewing on behalf of my 14 year old son. Yes, I said 14. He was waiting for this movie and went with a bunch of friends. Sophisticated L.A. kids, all of whom have seen films aimed at older audiences, some appropriate, others not so... He loved it. Said it was great, the actors were great and the animation was beautiful. Yes, he used the word "beautiful" (possibly for the first time in his life).

This is a great movie for the whole family. Usually cartoons are more geared towards younger people but this movie is a great movie for all. It was funny.

Our 6 year old enjoyed it. She has just started Tai Qwon Do and was interested in the martial arts. The violence didn't seem to bother her but I had a nightmare about being forcibly placed at the edge of a mile deep cliff. Also, children are too young to grasp the deeper meaning of the story which could somewhat justify the violence for adults. I think it should be rated PG-13. There were a few moments of humor even for us adults. I would recommend with a warning.
