Director David Yates, while not able to include all of the book's details, stayed true to Rowling's intent in the Half Blood Prince. Snape's vow was given its needed emphasis, the horcrux meaning was explained, and the discovery of each of them was exciting. The memory sequences of young Tom Riddle captured his calculatingly evil childhood. It was also nice to see a bit more from Alan Rickman. And Draco's character became less the cardboard bad kid and more three-demensional -- better than J.K. did herself, I thought. I would recommend this movie to all fans of the book series. Now, let's hope Yates can beef up the last rather boring part of othe sequel.

Ok I was really impressed with this movie. I've been a Harry Potter fan from the beginning, and the first two movies were awesome because they used the same director. Then they started changing directors every movie, and they made the 3rd movie too dark. I was impresses with David Yates for this movie. It followed the book except for a few parts and the actors did a superb job. I really hope they use David Yates for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. The coloring scheme was excellent for this movie. I was expecting nothing great considering how they kept changing directors, but nope. I stand amazed. It was just excellent.

The movie should have followed through on the emphasis of battle that the book had. A little too much (by about a scene or so) teen romance was depicted, and this wasted time. Hermoine seems to be getting worse at acting as she can't keep a straight face in scenes where she is looking off into the distance or being authoritative. Dumbledore wasn't as convincing as he should have been. The acting was a little forced on his part.
Harry, Ron, Snape, Malfoy, and the Potions Master (Slughorn) were great in this movie.

i personally love all the harry potter movies and books. and this movie was pretty good and i liked how they put humor in it for a change. But from reading the books im a little dissapointed. i know they cant put everything from the book in it but they left A LOT of things out! I would(actually am) planning to see it again just cuz im a harry potter nerd i guess u could say :) but it was a little disappointing. this was more of a setup for the seventh movie(s).

As an avid Harry Potter fan, I was pleased in the film interpretation. Many of the movies miss a lot and leave out important things. Though stuff was left out, the movie really hit on every topic in the book and did a great job at it. Everyone in the movie did an excellent job!

I was a fan of the books before the movies. In my opinion the movies stay true to the books, in the time allotted. An extra 15-20 mins would've been better but all in all the movie was in my opinion awesome!

I have been disappointed in several of the Harry Potter movies, but not this one. Michael Gambon as Dumbledor was perfect, at last. The scene in the cave was breathtaking, and true to the book. I wish they hadn't cut Dumbledors funeral. Other than that I loved it.

Looked forward to this one because up till now every sequel has been as entertaining as the last. BUT, looks like they finally ran out of juice on this one. Focused on the insignificant details of the book and glossed over the major points. I realize that you cannot do the entire book on film, but the screenplay was horrendous. Actors did the best they could with the material given - but clearly a substandard screenplay, direction, and production piece. Not sure I'm going to bother with the final two films. Rather keep the book in my mind - not the movie

The Harry Potter movies keep getting more complex and darker as the group grows older and has to deal with the growing threat Lord Voldemort represents. HP and the Half-Blood Prince is an excellent film; showcasing fine acting work from all the principals...and it's nice to see the great work Tom Felton (the actor playing Draco Malfoy) does as he struggles to deal with deadly task asked of him.

This movie was a bit dark--and I missed the fantasy of Hogwarts, like the everyday magical happenings in this wonderful world--comical poltergeists, earwax jellybeans, embarrassing howler letters--and this movie is more seriously focused. Despite this, the movie strives for some balance with lighter fare--Ron and Hermione's budding relationship and the all too short scene in the twin's joke shop. I have to mention Alan Rickman as Snape. I don't know how he can convey so much meaning with just a look or a twitch of an eyebrow, but his performance in this movie is amazing. If you are reading this review, you know you will go see this movie. It isn't perfect, but you will enjoy it.

We Harry Potter fans are spoiled. Every movie has been SO CLOSE to the book, that we take it for granted that they ALL will be like that. This one was a shell of the book. I am concerned that the next two movies will have to compensate so much because DUMBLEDORE NEVER TOLD HARRY TO KEEP THIS BETWEEN HIM AND HIS TWO BEST FRIENDS. How are they going to justify their lone search for the horcruxes without that caveat? Now they can ask the Order to help them! I also missed seeing the house of Gaunt. too bad. Too many things glossed over. I am glad the last book is TWO movies. This one should have been also.

This was the worst adaptation of a Harry Potter movie ever! The only people that this movie would appeal to are pre-teens. The whole message of good vs evil is lost in the adaptation. Harry does not stay true to character. They spend more time on teenage relationships than on the real story. I hated this adaptation of book 6 and would not recommend it to anyone who has read the book and loved the book.

I saw it with my good friend and 11 and 10 year old daughters. We loved it! I would not take preschool age(and younger) children to this movie, but all other ages are fine. We felt like the movie could have been longer and felt it was very funny at times. It was very well done.

A really great job keeping the main ideas of the story in the screenplay. Just the right blend of comedy, darkness, and teen romance (which in itself is frought with darkness and comedy!). Loved that they brought quidditch back for the last time.

The latest in the Harry Potter series lives up to expectations! The feel of the movie is appropriately dark and the emotions are well played. The movie follows the book amazing well except for some minor changes and one major fight scene. I would have liked to have seen the final fight scene between the Order fo the Pheonix and the death eaters. How are they going to include Bill, Fluer, and the wedding (now that the Burrow is destroyed)? The budding romance btw. Harry and Jenny was sweet but whittled down. The child, Tom Riddle was successfully creepy!!!!
A must see for all Potter fans. But a word of warning- get their at least 1 hour early, or you won't be sitting as a group! Sold Out crowds to be expected.

GREAT MOVIE! The actors are so much better now than in the first ones. There were some parts different from the book, but they worked. The movie rolled through pretty seamlessly and fast. It didn't feel like 2 1/2 hours. I really enjoyed it.

The book was so amazing and the other five movies were pretty good but unfortunately this movie was completely boring, not accurate and very badly directed. The acting wasn't so good but not because of the actors, more because of the lines they were meant to deliver and the fact that conversations lasted about 3 minutes which each person only saying 5 words. Most of the movie was zooming in and out on things-totally unnecessarily. I was really looking forward to this movie and the adventure and romance but was completely disappointed.

I cannot help but compare the film to the book, and in doing so, I feel let down. As a movie goes, it isn't bad, but as a faithful interpretation of the book, it is the worst of the six. Perhaps the most important point of the sixth book was the realization that by understanding Tom Riddle the boy, who was obsessed with proving himself “special” and with collecting unique items as trophies, they could guess the identity and location of Voldemort the man’s horcruxes; Riddle would not use just ANY object but rather objects of special significance to him. The movie told us that horcruxes "could be anything," which while technically true is missing the point. It seems the screenwriters failed to understand the book at all. Disappointing.

I went to the midnight show to see this movie and I was impressed. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan of the books and the movies and I have to say that this movie is definetly one of the best Harry Potter films. I was dissapointed when it was pushed back to july but it was worth the wait. There's not too much action in this movie but it's still very good!! If you have any spare time during this summer, I highly recommend seeing this movie!!!

The movie is full of exciting twists and turns. Though movies are never as good as the books they encompase... it was a very close second. Even my sister, who hasn't been able to sit through any of the other movies, loved this one! Go see it!

Overall, I thought it was a good movie. I was a little dissappointed with lack of detail or explanation. I know a movie can never really live up to a book. Like I said, good NOT great. I'm left wondering how the set of 7th year films will be.

reading the book you come across scenes where you think "oh i can't wait to see how they do THAT in the movie!" but unfortunately for me most of those moments were left out of the movie completely. other small things, like a character doing something that was done by a different character in the book and new scenes being added to the movie that weren't part of the book, somewhat bothered me but the flow of the movie was very cohesive so it didn't bother me too much. overall i very much enjoyed the movie. david yates does a wonderful job in helping develop the characters from children into young adults. to any harry potter fanatics go into it realizing that some things are out of order from the book or not in the movie at all.

The way this movie was filmed made up for the lack of action. I just don't think there will ever be a scene that can top that of Voldemort and Dubledore dueling in the Order of the Phoenix. I enjoyed how Draco was portrayed and played in this movie. The gentleman who plays Ron Weasley did an excellent job and you can see him growing as an actor. Great movie and I can't wait until it comes out on DVD.
