This movie is good. However it had a weak ending. It didnt brige the gab between the last one and the new one. Was lacking in the details to explain some events as well. But all in all it was an entertaining movie.

I have enjoyed all the HP film series but this one is a little disappointing. I loved the book and I think it was just difficult to condense 650+ pages into a 2 1/2 hour screenplay and the nature of this story did not end on a huge triumph or climax like other HP films. More key passages were changed vs the other films as far as the story following the book. I would still recommend the film. Highlights of the film: Dumbledore's death ( Michael Gambon is an incredible actor), Prof. Slughorn, Lavender Brown with Ron, Hermione and Ron, Harry and Ginny, a troubled Malfoy and the Weasley's novelty shop. Also the sea cave scene is incredible.

The movie itself was good. I enjoyed it. However, if you have not read the books you miss 3/4ths of the plot, which in my opinion is very important in this particular book. I have read the books and was disapointed that they didn't follow the orig. story line better. But i guess if they did, we would have an 8hr movie on our hands and would have to wait another 2 years to see it. I can't wait to see how the last movies play out to fill the gaps. READ THE BOOKS! YOU'LL THANK YOURSELF.

As an avid reader of the HP books, this movie was a big disappointment! The Climactic battle at Hogwarts was eliminated! It doesn't make sense. The ending was a total let-down. Several sub-plots that are important to the final book were not included. I know that the book will always be richer & more emotional. This is the first movie to leave me so unsatisfied.

It was entertaining although I really think some of the "Climactic" scenes could have been a bit longer and some of the things with Ron and his romance could have been a bit shorter. I would recommend it to my friends however not if they haven't at least seen the others. My sister hasn't read the books and I found I had to explain some things to her, but all in all I did enjoy it and there were a few good laughs as well.

It is always difficult to take a beloved book, and a very LARGE book at that, and do it justice. The acting in this movie was far better than the others, and though there were not as many special effects, the cinematography was outstanding.
Those who loved the book may have a hard time with the parts left out, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. The ending was poignant and appropriately sad and I think they handled it better than the death of the character in OOP.
Overall, as part of the entire Harry Potter experience, this movie will not disappoint. I recommend it to anyone.

The movie did not have the same zeal that the book had. It was not up to the level of all the others. After the magical fight scenes in the 5th movie, you would think they would do them in this one. Overall, a good addition to the Harry Potter movie collection. I do have one objection, though. Why take out the fight scenes to go for a PG rating instead of a PG-13 just when the characters are getting older? The story is supposed to be getting darker and more dangerous.

Let me start by saying that I was looking forward to the film, and am a great fan of the books -- but I also have learned over the years that the movies never measure up to the books. So I think I approached the movie with enthusiasm, but was not overly idealistic. Having said that, I thought the movie was disappointing. Yes, it deviates from the book quite a lot, in some very important ways. Beyond that, the first half dragged, too much attention was paid to the romantic entanglements, and I think the build-up to the traumatic ending fell flat. In short, I *wanted* to like it, but I really didn't.

The commercials made it look like junk but it was definitely a lot better than the past 2. Nonbook readers would actually be able to understand it more than the last one i think. Still I hate Dumbledore. This was the BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder it got more viewers on Opening Weekend than DARK KNIGHT! Beat that.

If you're a fan of the Harry Potter series, either the books or the films, you'll enjoy seeing the story and characters develop in the Half Blood Prince. Viewers new to the story might find themselves lost in character names and plot development. I'd suggest reading or watching the previous installments or even discussing with a friend who knows what a muggle is.
The film receives a 4 star since it's 5 for the fans and 3 for anyone else. My friend to the left was asleep for about 85 percent of the film while my friend to the right and i sat at the edge of our seats.

I have to admit that the story has finally gotten to a point where I seem to be missing enough details that I wish I had read the books. I guess I understand how viewers of the Lord of the Rings movies felt if they hadn't read Tolkien's masterpiece.

I thought the movie was great!! I love how the kids have grown into their roles... I loved how they've begun to show the more (flirty) side of what is expected of kids this age.... Of course, if you have not read the book, it would be rather confusing (so read it) :) There were a group of people that hated the ending, must have been those who did NOT read the book :) I look fwd to the last movie~~

The movie once again strays from the book. There are many funny scenes in the movie more than previous ones. I found the moving boring at times and almost fell asleep. If you have not read the book you will like the movie. If you have read the book you will be disappointed.

I have read all the books several times and the cut things out of the movie that were in the book. (Spoiler Alert) I found it very stupid that they cut out Dumbledore's funeral.

'Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince' was outstanding. It held my interest throughout, without any tedious parts whatsoever. The direction was the best yet, as was the cinematography. And the score, much more a presence throughout -- even subtly at times -- added wonderfully to every scene. This is a truly satisfying movie experience. It left me wishing I could see the next one right away. Bravo!
