Perhaps it's that I'm used to a Harry Potter movies that feel like a complete story, but it felt like something was missing out of this movie. I got the vibe of "necessary to make the next one make sense" from this movie.
I don't read the books, so I can't discuss how accurate this was or how in line it was with story line, but this movie seemed like it was all back story leading up to the next one in the series. I need more punch and action out of my movies.
See it if you want to see the next one.

There were scenes that were left out that were somewhat important. Ginny did not come out again after the room of requirement. The apparition practice was not introduced, which is confusing since this becomes an important getaway for Harry in the seventh installment. Finally, the fighting within hogwarts was omitted and was the biggest disappointment to most. I knew it wasn't coming out so I wasn't disappointed. Yates defended his decision by saying that he did not want the fighting scene in hogwarts seem redundant in the seventh movie. Overall the movie was succeeded in invoking the same emotions that the book did.

Well done. One of the better HP movies yet. Obviously there is no way they could include eveything from the book, it would be way too long. This time around it was funny, romantic and suspenseful, not to mention it was exciting to see the maturity of the actors. they've really grown into their roles and project confidence on the screen.

The filmographers made this film great.. very artistic throughout. Somewhat shallow acting by the younger main characters.. but if you are a fan it is of course a must-see and you will enjoy it for the story, special effects and your beloved affections for all the actors.

The movie was good, but I was throughly disappointed. I thought David Yates would have done the same great work from the fifth installment, but I guess it didn't fall through. He wanted the movie to flow so well that he changed things that didn't need alteration.
Where was the funeral and the fight at Hogwarts?? Basically, if you watched the trailer, you saw the whole movie.
I've been an avid fan of the books ever since and I love the movies too. But this one questions whether the seventh one is worth seeing.

This was my least favorite HP movie. It left too many things hanging, the ending was a huge let down. The editing was choppy making the transition from some scenes confusing. I will always go see the Harry Potter movies, I just hope the next one lives up to the books and the hype.

I was extremely disappointed with the movie. If you had the rea the books there were many parts left out that were key or changed by the director. If not having read the book they movie did not build up the drama as I would have hoped. As Harry potter movies go I would rank it 5th in the series.

It may be that this book is the most difficult of all the Harry Potters to film, since there are several parallel and mostly separate story lines. The major problem was with the extensive omission of important plot details in favor of new and often confusing materials. One should tread very lightly when rewriting or editing JK Rowling. She mostly gets everything right.The complete redo of the climactic battle scene at the end of the book was just wrong, as was the addition of a scene where the death eaters invaded the Burrow.

I thoght that the acting was very good. The movie felt rushed through from scene to scene and almost disconnected at times. Although there was very good acting the plot lacked detail at parts. This movie did go more in depth with the characters emotions towards eachother (finally!) and there was also a lot of good humor. The best Harry Potter movie yet!

Of the entire movie series, Half-Blood Prince delivers the most quality and quantity. Few plots and scenes were cut from the book, but the movie did not seem rushed. It had all the elements of JK Rowling's masterpiece: humor, romance, action, fantasy, depth. Half-Blood Prince is by far the best Harry Potter film yet!

This film does not disappoint in acting, cinematography and effects/CG. There are moments of hilarity that lighten the mood, which are stolen by dark moments with very smooth transitions. My complaint is the story editing. I understand it is impossible to recreate an entire book, but it is one thing to give scenes or lines to major or already-known characters and quite another to add things that don’t belong there in the first place (I believe the term is “load of tosh”). That said, however, it's a well-done film that works, for the most part, and is downright enjoyable or not (don't forget it's a dark and sad and frightening story).

As an avid fan of the series, I am always dissapointed with the movies. I don't understand why they changed the ending (by leaving out a key fight scene) or why they added a scene that never happened in the book. That being said, this is the best movie they have made so far.

I am a true HP book fan. I love the books. Some of the movies are a good compliment to the book and this one was just that. Was there differences? Yes. Did they add extra stuff and take away stuff? Of course. Did they forget the most important stuff from the book? Yes, example the fight at Hogwarts and our beloved head masters funeral. Despite all of these things the movie was very good. I love the books! They are great. Even the first 3 movies were great. But the lengh of books have kept the 4th, 5th, and 6th movies coming up short. The information needed to understand is just not in the last movies. The half-blood prince has excellent sound effects and graphics. But it looks pasted togather. More info is needed for me at least to feel good about it. Although, I will be purchasing it when it comes out on DVD.

If you are a true HP fan - you will love this!! It will make you laugh and cry - all that a movie should do...
Although there is an added scene not in the book and some characters missing in the "action" scene that you will be waiting for - but again - if you are a true HP fan - it's 2 thumbs up - otherwise there isn't as much action as the trailors will make you think there is.

The movie was excellent in portraying the book up until the ending. How can the director justify taking out the most exciting part of the ending. I saw the movie at 2 pm. The ending bummed me out for the rest of the day.

The 6th Harry Potter film was an exciting adventure story with some cute puppy love scenes tossed in for a bit of comic relief. Our entire family enjoyed the movie and spent hours discussing it later. Of course we are always disappointed that so much of the story from the book did not make it to the big screen. But the parts that did were true to the novel and well done.
