One word: AMAZING. I have never read the books, but the movies make me want to! So involving, so emotional and real (despite it being fantasy!) Half-Blood Prince... more dangerous than the previous ones... makes me wonder what the last one will be like. Gosh, I wish they'd never end.

At the expense of incurring the wrath of all HP fans, I certainly wouldn't say this is the best of the HP movies and only consider it OK.
The characterizations were not as well drawn as they have been in previous movies. The death of Dumbledore was only a very remote reflection of the traumatic event it was in the book. I didn't even feel like shedding a tear.
I realize this was a really long book, and for the most part, the movie was true to it; however, I can't help but feel that a lot of important stuff was left out.

Well worth seeing on the big screen! True to the novel, and well-paced. The 21/2 hrs goes by quickly as there are no slow, over-worked spots; feels like you just sat down when it's over. Plenty of plot, action, character depth and build-up to the unbelievable climax...Can't wait for number 7!

People who have not read the books will enjoy. I was dissapointed over the differences from the book, however, and had a hard time getting past that to really enjoy the film. They left out some key elements, so it'll be interesting to see how the handle them in the 2 films for the 7th book.

Being a huge harry potter fan and having read all the books, i went into the theatre with very high expectations especially because the 6th book had been my favorite book. the movie poorly represented the book and to me there was absolutely no comparison. the entire movie was about sappy love which was just a small aspect in the book. also, why were there only two memories!? in the book there must have been at least 7 or so explained. what has harry potter come to? it has always been a suspenseful thrilling movie and book .... now i can only say that the books are like that. were they trying to appeal to 12 year old girls? if so then congratulations they did but everyone else hated it.

The movie was fantastic, the visual effects were great and as always the the sense of humor was there, as well as the seriousness of the moment. Acting is sensational, as well as the little romance between the main characters suddle but obvious. All in all a fantastic movie suspensful, funny, sad, sweet and grown-up. My husband and I loved this movie, as did my 11 year old but leave the little ones at home. There are a few parts that our 7 year old could not handle. The only truly bad part of this movie is that so many important details are left out. The movies still flows but it is still sad to see the beloved book cut down for time.

I really didn't think this movie was all too good. Not focusing on the fact that it came from a book, the movie was pretty good, it had it's intense parts. But considering it was based on a book that i've read many times, it wasn't that great. There were too many things changed, and added into the movie, so that bothered me. They left out very important scenes that i feel are really important in the story of Harry Potter. Did the director, screenwriter etc...read the book? Found myself looking at my watch wondering how much longer I'd have to endure! Not enough focus on the best parts of the book . The acting was excellent and the special effects incredible. I felt the story fell flat -- unlike the book which I enjoyed. It was fun visiting "old friends". However I think my friend who joined me, and has not been exposed to Harry and the gang before was pretty bored.

I am a HUGE fan of the Harry Potter books and movies. I have read every book, seen every movie, and own every DVD. Therefore I'm giving it 2 stars because it would break my heart to give it only 1 (like it deserves).
HP and the HBP was a good book and filled in some missing information, which is why this movie was so disappointing to me. I know movies are typically not as good as the books they're based on but this was particularly bad. There was waaaaayyy too much time spent on the giggling awkwardness of teenage love and not enough on the meat of the story. The most exciting scene lasted about 5 minutes and still left out parts. There were also obvious editing errors.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the next 2movie will be better.

I have read all the books and I am glad I didn't reread this one before hand, because it made the movie excellent. I thought all of the high points were included and it was well done! not at all faithful to the book, hard to follow if you weren't familiar with the book...even Dumbledore's death didn't inspire an emotion!

Like countless others I am a huge Harry Potter fan and thought the movie was Great. However, I thought they could have left out some of the school romance chatter and added a bit more of the Riddle family history and how Draco became chosen for the Dark Lords Deeds. Double Cudos to Helena Bohnam Carter, she's the perfect actress to play LeStrange.

i have never seen a Harry Potter movie before, nor have i been interested. i went because my lil sis is into it n it was her bday gift. i musy ssay i liked it. very amusing and creative. i'm going to go back and see the other umpteeth harry potters to catch up lol. this one wassad and the end leaves u like....WHAT! so thats the reason four my 4 not 5 stars. i do recommend seeing it though.

We thought this Harry Potter was TERRIBLE!! We have grown to love the adventures, the suspense, the action and the seat jumping scenes Harry Potter is noted for, this however, had none of those attributes. We were amazed (not in a good way) at all of the adolescent hype and minimal story telling. Sure, we understood the story line however, for us, the story lacked excitement...lots of teenage hormonal changes (ugh!) but not even worthy of DVD...our opinion stands....ALL of the other Harry's beat this one...hands down.
