I felt the movie was hard to understand. I had to come home and read the plot to understand the movie better. The characters were excellent, but the screenplay stunk. If I had written this book, I would not have allowed this movie to be produced.

This was not the best HP movie, but not the worst either. I thought the special effects made it worth seeing. Loved seeing the characters grown up! Was definitely a dark ending, but can't wait to see the conclusion. I didn't notice how long the movie was, it kept my attention the whole time.

I am a big fan of Harry Potter, both the movies and the books. However I felt that this movie did not do justice to the book. I realize there is much material in the book, too much to cover in 2 hours time, but I felt the more poignant, such as the end could have been developed more. This is one of the most gripping scenes in the book and I felt it could have been explored more on film. I also agree with another reviewer, when are we going see Harry show the powers that make him the Chosen One. None the less, I am still looking forward to the final installment. Its still worth watching and the overall look of the movie was lovely.

When will Harry get to show off his skills as the chosen one why don't you take the shackles off and let him do Dumbledor's kind of magic? I really was disappointed at the ending though but I did really like the special effects! Good movie could have been a great movie if you let harry do his stuff and we all know dumbledor is not dead the phoenix in the end told us that. MALfoys character need some better directing he seemed to sullen and to straight forward as the bad apple!

Alan Rickman steals the show in HBP. I would not recomend seeing this movie if you have not read the book; it would be incredibly hard to follow. As always, the book is better.
Having said that the movie is non stop action with and a jolt that drew gasps from the packed theater I was in, even though most people knew it was coming; and no i'm not talking about the end. If you don't at least hop in your seat a little you have great nerves.
A must see in the theater as the special effects and movie score were fabulous. Don't come late to this one or you will miss some of the best special effects in the movie.

Loved the movie and acting of characters! I have read all the books, and have all the movies, but was confused about the changes. Like another reviewer, I think the part about Riddle's heritage would have been great and explained a lot. The fight and funeral scene would have been good also. I am confused about Hagrid's house and the Burrows burning. I guess that means that the Wedding will be left out of the last movie. I certainly hope that they don't cut too much about the traveling, that would be a shame.

I understand that there is an extraordinary amount of material in the books and it won't all make it to the movie. My problem lies in all the extra stuff they add and the important things they delete. Why did the Weasley house burn? Where was the Minister of Magic? Where were the other horcrux memories? There were too many essential items left out of this movie. The character development was spectacular. The Quidditch scene was fabulous. But the rest of the movie left me disappointed.

If my friends have never read the book, then yes I would recomend them to watch the movie. If they had. Don't waste the money. They made changes that was not nessicary and left out several elements of the plot. Overall a good movie as a movie, but sucked as a Harry Potter story.

The movie was good but I would like to have seen some more of the important plot issues from the book left in the movie. Why did they waste time with the coffee shop? Needed more concentration on Harry and Dumbledore's travels. Where were the resistance fighters? Any way it was good but definitely not quite what I would have liked it to be.

First - This is a very good movie. The acting is excellent. The cinematography is also excellent. Harry on the luck potion is an excellent scene. Second - Unless you read the books, there may be some parts of the movie that are confusing. There are some parts of the movie that are not in the book. The final battle in Hogwarts was left out.......Too Bad!!!! The kiss between Harry and Ginny was changed. The memory of the Gaunt house was left out...........Important!! Even with these changes/omissions, this is still a very good movie and I will go see it again.

When reading the Harry Potter series, I found this book to be the least satisfying. Everything i it is necessary to set up the last book, but it felt to me more like set-up than a stand-alone book. Unlike most of the other books, if you hadn't read the previous books in the series, this one would make no sense at all.
That said, the movie is a very satisfying interpretation of the book. The visuals are wonderful, the acting is superb, and it's emotionally engaging. If you're a Harry Potter fan, go see it. You'll enjoy it.

I enjoyed Harry finally funny. Although buzzed on luck juice, he was funny and fun to watch. It gave some much needed levity to his (although understandable) very heavy character. It also gave me a moment to breath. I was able to reconnect with the 3 main characters as a team of best friends. Spending more time on them and their personalities brought me closer to them. This movie was a great pralued to the next. I laughed I cryed and I was real surprised. Can't wait to do it again.

Ever since Yates took over the Potter franchise, the movie plots have departed more and more from the book. I understand the need to omit scenes for the sake of time, but to add scenes that do not aid the movement of the movie is beyond my comprehension. I don't understand why Ginny's sad attempt to flirt led her to tie Harry's shoe. Why did the Death Eaters lure Harry to an open field & set the Weasley's house on fire? And most importantly, why was the Death Eaters' climactic exit from Hogwarts omitted? They were just allowed to walk out the door! The fans were waiting for that fight! I disliked this Harry Potter movie more than any other. I can only hope that they do not massacre the final movie the way they have the last 3 movies!

Reminds me of the Lord of the Rings series. The middle one, The Two Towers, was the weakest if you had to choose, I suppose. Although not as weak as this HP installment.

This lacked some of the fireworks of previous movies, but that's a reflection of the book. The character development was excellent, the acting has really come a long way since "Sorcerer's Stone" and the humor was real and well integrated.

I had high hopes for this movie, but in the end left me very disappointed. It deviated from the book in too many instances. I think if you didn't read the book and only saw the movie, then you would be left wondering "what was it all about". The movie ended abruptly.... you were waiting for more and then the movie credits ran... UGH!

Not the best of the series, that's for sure. Loved Jim Broadbent, but on the whole thought this one was creepy/scary without being exciting and fun.
The worst part of the movie was when I spilled my popcorn right after settling into my seat.

Once again I was happy with Harry Potter! Personally I laughed more in this movie than I have in the others. This was nice because I often laughed when reading the books. Is this for everyone, probably not. But I think everyone can appreciate that Harry Potter has filled a niche that was vacant for many years.

With this title, I dont mean it is a good movie that is hidden. This movie just about put me to sleep.
Little action. Disjointed story line.
I suspect this is one they shot in the past and put it together from older shots.
