This movie kept me very interested throughout. The 2 and a half hours flew by. There were some minor changes made in the end, if you didn't read the books you wouldn't have missed anything as the changes still had the general gist of how the ending was. It was a little disappointing as I have read all the books, but it was still awesome!

While this edition of Harry Potter may have lacked the adrenaline packed duels of earlier releases, the story is very colorfully laid out for the viewer. The character development is wonderful to watch, making the young wizards and witches seem like real children. The end may disappoint, but overall the movie is great.

This was a very good movie. You do have to remember that there is just not enough time to make a complete reproduction of the book. It was not nearly as "dark" as I expected and there was much humor in it. But, as far as Dumbledore, this was Michael Gambon's finest portrayal. Tom Felton as Draco truly came into his own in this one. A great job by all, and a wonderfully entertaining movie.

I would only recommend seeing this movie, as if you've read the books it's a must. I was however, thoroughly dissappointed. What they did according to book was great. But what they left out was important. SPOILER: no funeral for Professor Dumbledore? A fire at the Weasley home? How on earth are they going to introduce what happens in book 7 (which is the beginning of the book). They spent too much time of the young love goings on, and not enough of all the excursions Dumbledore takes Harry on, Fred & George's shop, the rise and fall of the previous Minister of Magic and no introduction of the new one. I hope they get it right in the last two movies.

I would recommend this movie to a friend. It was darker than previous HP movies but that is to be expected each book gets darker as you go along in the series. But I have to say stick to the story the way it was in the book there is a reason why those books are a hit. Harry would never have stood by and watched Dumbledore get attacked he would have tried to help, they should have stayed true to the character. I hope the writers stick to the story for the last movie.

Really good if you didn't read the books . This will be the only movie of the series that I wont buy. Of couse unless they ruin the next one too. I agree with keeping the story the same as the book at least key parts. Ginny never showed harry where to hide the book so there for the kiss didn't happen the same. Harry wasnt being quiet and standing by watching his idol get murdered in front of him. Seriously has harry ever been able to just stand by . And if he had would he while the boy and teacher he loaths is the one doing so..I don't think so. And on top of everthing else the whole battle at the end didn't even happen and that is what i was waiting for. And why not even the funeral?

Dark thematically and visually, this movie is enjoyable but not a good 1st HP movie for anyone. As someone who watches the movies before reading the books, I found it interesting and informational but feel the need to see it again. The two best things about this movie are the humor and the excellent performance of Tom Felton as Malfoy! The humor and serious storyline compliment each other nicely. In short, this is a really enjoyable movie-Intense, but generally amazing! It's nice to see our Hogwarts friends again! Many questions are left for us to wonder about until the next movie (like where allegiances lie) but that just makes it more exciting. This is definitely an interesting story that every Harry Potter fan should see!

I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so I fail to see the point of changing the written story to any degree. Leaving some things out of the movies may be understandable but DO NOT CHANGE THE STORY!!!!!!! I am speaking namely of Dumbledore's death scene. That is a pretty HUGE change to the story! Can we get a re-do please, maybe get a different writer?
I would have much rather them leave out the silly Burrow scene that was not in the book and the silly Bellatrix in the great hall scene that was contrived by the writer. I would have much rather seen the fight at the castle and a lot more about Harry and Ginny, and quidditch, and the list goes on and on.

This movie was the best of its series, with better acting for all of the characters and solid story line. I believe it has been established that you should go into the movie expecting no similarities from the book, and you will leave looking forward to the next. Their are a few distracting moments when the movie does not flow properly, but overall it is well worth the money and time. Especially if you are capable of reading the books and not expecting the movies to follow anything but the very general outline. Overall, good movie.

half blood prince was wayy more funny than expected. but i wish there was more action especially towards the end in the fight scene. i think they left some details in the book out which was disapointing to me. but i loved it still it just didnt live up to my expectations which were high.

Must see. All Potter movies have been wonderful, but seems, there's not enough time to do justice to the books. Can't imagine seeing the movies without reading books first. Must be difficult to understand what's going on. Some really great scenes in this one, hysterical to very moving. We all knew Dumbledore would die, but it was still painful. Must protest, how could they end movie that everyone has been waiting for for so long, without the funeral?! Very upset, but it was very exciting and mesmerizing movie. Book series should be made into a serial, 2 or 3 or 4 movies per book, each 2 hours. They could really make money!

Humor was great, slight diffferences from book did not distract from the overall plot. Some questions remain for "us" Harry Potter purest, and it will be interesting to see how David Yates ties it all together in the last two installments. Might leave those who have not read the books wondering on some key events, but I saw this movie with serveral folks of ages 6 to 60 and the overall opinion was "very good" although we did have to expand on some points to three who had not (believe it or not) read the book.

The movie could have been pretty good had i not read the book. This movie left me feeling very unsatisfied. While I think is had all the high standards of the previous, it felt like it had no beginning, end & left out more than it showed. I have to say this is the worst script they ever had. Or perhaps the worst editing. Having not read books 5,6 or 7 I have to rely on the script and director to tell the story from Order of the Pheonix on. And here I felt confused and kept wanting more information, who is that, where is that from, what's the meaning of that. I felt like I was looking at a collection of scenes leftover from another movie strung nicely together.

I thought this was the best one yet! I am not a well read Rowlings fan, but love to see a great movie and this was it.

have seen every Harry Potter and found this one to be a little slow without as much character action as in the past. however it is a Harry Potter and for us fans we can never get enough.

Best of the series yet. Sure, the book had to be edited down to film length. But not to the detriment of the movie. It's a pleasure to see the cast grow up into mature, talented actors. Loved the visuals, the special effects, the cast. Must see (several times).

I thought as a movie by itself it deserved a 9 or 10. As a movie based off a book it deserved a 6 or 7. The movie left out some very important details and not only did they do that, but they put in scenes that weren't in the book such as burning down the Burrow. The ending was also very boring and stupid. Other than that the movie was great and the subplots were good.
