I waited a long time for this movie and I LOVED it...the effects were great, the acting was superb, both adults & young adults alike. The only thing that disappointed me was the missing memories, which I think are crucial to the story line...but those who haven't read the books don't know the difference. I just don't think important story lines should be sacrificed for shorter movie time. I agree with everyone who said Tom Felton was awesome...he has grown into Draco very nicely...Props to Bonnie Wright as well, Ginny is all grown up!

As usual, great movie with action and suspense. I like the way that we see the students maturing in their acting roles as well as on their own age levels. I would have liked to have seen maybe one more "action" scene but am left with the "I can't wait to see what happens next" in the sequel to come. I have not read the books, but my oldest son has. He is 14. He still gives excellent ratings to the movies even though he has read the books. My family has watched each of the Harry Potter movies together and have enjoyed each and every one!

the movie was really good and i completely enjoyed it. But they focused too much on the romance part and less on the memories and the horcruxes. this is vital to the harry potter story because it is how harry is going to defeat voldemort. apart from that the movie was amazing.

Harry Potter/ Half Blood Prince was definitly the most entertaining, and best directed movie of the series! It is very strange to see the actors so much older than in 2000! If you are looking for a fun summer movie, this is the best choice for you money. As the characters of the books are becoming more mature and approaching new emotions and dangers, the actors of the movies are definitily doing a great job of progressing with them. We are anxiously awaiting the final two movies! And remember, HARRY POTTER ROCKS!(say in english accent)

Some people are disappointed because there's not as much action in this film but I loved it because finally you get some more character development and interaction between our favorite characters. Far too much time was spent on the "snogging" theme than on the all important plot elements which made the Half-Blood Prince, in my opinion, one of the most crucial part of this saga. While I understand the need for alterations in a book's plot when making a movie, I can not understand the shallow treatment given the principal themes of Rowling's story in favor of highlighting burgeoning teen relationships.
Still, it is entertaining enough (once I overlook that treatment of the story) for me to recommend it to anyone interested.

The actors have gotten so much better since this first started. It was nice to see Tom Felton spread his acting wings a little. That being said, I have to agree with another person that stated the story line felt "disjointed" at certain areas in the movie. The effects, costumes were great, and for the most part the movie was pretty good, if you haven't read the books. But there is crucial information left out that pertain to the next story. Yet they were able to add a completely new scene not in the books. Hummm!!! don't know what they were thinking.

This was my personal favorite Harry Potter movie. It was both funny and dark, with a little romance and great special effects... This movie also shows a lot of emotions from all the main characters that we haven't seen before... I will admit that I was a little bit dissapointed the first time I saw it, but that was only because I was comparing it to the book the whole time, which you shouldn't do because movies never come out as good as the books. So when i saw the movie for the second time, I realized how amazing the movie was, and I will prob. see it 5-10 more times while its in theatres!!

i read all the books and was looking forward to this movie. enjoyable funny scenes heartfelt ones- great duels- great suspense. the kids are all grown and each put in memorable performances but the one that stood out was Tom Felton in particular put in a great performance as Draco showing the conflict and the toll of being the chosen servant of the dark lord and the cost of it. that final scenes of his on the tower and fleeing the castle along with the duel in the bathroom with Harry i was looking forward to and it did not disapoint. the movie of course was moodier and they have some ways to go with the last 2 to sum up the story but in all it was a good movie in the series.

My hubby and I went to see this last night and really enjoyed it. I thought that it was a great followup to the previous movies and lead in to the first Deathly Hallows movie due next year. The women in our family appreciated being able to sit through the whole movie without feeling ancy to leave. However, we also felt the movie fell short of embodying the adventure of the book. It also failed to thoroughly introduce new characters or reintroduce little-seen, old characters. The men in the family just thought it lacked the fighting, battles, and thrill. They preferred the Transformers movie. We all agreed that the scenery, musical score, sets, & acting were absolutely fabulous. Big applause for Emma, Helena, and really the whole cast. There were very solid, gratifying moments in the movie. We enjoyed the exploration of teenage love, angst, and emotional development.

If you a blindly loyal HP groupie, then you'll love this movie. Given that caveat, it should be noted that the movie takes great liberties in the telling of the Half-Blood Prince story, adding scenes that were not in the book, changing MAJOR plot points, and in general, feeling very disjointed in its storytelling. The costuming and set design is fantastic - but that can also be said for 1992's Batman Returns. You need a story to hold it together, and HP&THBP falls on its face in that regard. The Quidditch scene is terrific - but not terrific enough to redeem this shoddily-told story.

As a devoted fan of Harry Potter, I was eagerly anticipating the release of the 6th movie. This time, I was bitterly disappointed, however, as I found there was so much rich, important material from the book which was left out of the movie, material which proves crucial in the final book. After several days, I returned to the theater, determined that, knowing what disappointed me the first time, I would see it again through new eyes. This time I did not expect to see the book turned into a movie, but rather a movie simply BASED upon the book, and I was quite surprised to find a fantastic movie, well acted and enthralling in itself! I knew when I went to see this movie that it would not have everything the book had in it. However, All the other movies did somehow include all the important info even if it was a one liner. This movie missed a bunch of that info. Do not know if people who didn't read the book could follow along and were properly set up for the next movie. The acting remains awesome and well respected. I am interested to see the final two movies, however, if they are going to take this long to come out I will wait to see them on DVD.

I have enjoyed most of the Harry Potter movies to-date, and while this movie did have its moments, it was by far the most disappointing of the movies. No doubt, I will still get it on DVD (since I have the rest of them).
Do not get me wrong - the movie was hardly to the level where I would walk out of the theater. I had a good time, and it was filled with good characterization of adolescents challenged with their hormones, as well as good cinematography and action scenes. However, if it were not for the acclaimed fame of the Harry Potter series, I doubt this movie would have been quite the blockbuster it will likely be. I hope the next movie is better...

I'm not much of a Harry Potter fan, and this particular movie did nothing to change my opinion. Too dark, long and boring. It was a stretch to get more money from movie goers....way to much talk and very little action.

As a Harry Potter books fan it is always disapointing to go see a movie that does not touch on my favorite parts. Overall this movie was great as movies go, but it needed to be a little longer. It seemed that there were some obvious missing scenes.

I went to see this movie with my 12 year old son, and we both liked it, although parts of it, I'm told, are better understood if you've read the book before seeing the movie. Still, I thought it was suspensefull, intriguing, and a good movie overall. For Harry Potter fans, I think it is a good continuation of the story and the previous movies.

I have to say, I have read all the books and have been to each movie premier, and this is the best movie by far!!! It is a great set up for the last movie. TO:Neomorph from Columbia, MD, the reason you did not understand or find the climax, the entire movie is the climax!! It sets you up for what is about to happen in the next movie. Everyone enjoy!!! It was worth the money at the box office.
