This was the best of the movies, yet! Can't wait for the Deathly Hollows if this is an example of what is yet to come. Very action packed!!!! Great special effects!!! I watched the 3D version on IMAX but, was disappointed that the whole movie wasn't in 3D. I feel some of it could have been left without 3D effects but is would have been totally awesome of all of the action packed scenes had been in 3D, also. If it comes out in DVD I hope that more of it will be in 3D.

If you are a Harry Potter fan this is another great movie! The difference that sets this movie aside from the last 5 Harry Potter movies is that it s a little darker than the others. I also feel that it is a lead up to the next movie because there were so many unanswered questions. It was hard to read some of the characters and the end of the movie is abrupt. Definately leaves you thinking.

This movie drags on and on. Between back story, and teen aged lust I was bored about 75% of the movie. Even my 12 year old daughter got bored, and she LIKES teen romance stuff.
Maybe the book was good; I wouldn't know, but I would have waited for this to come out on cable had I known.

It was more serious than the other movies but that is to be expected as everyone is growing up and can deal with more serious issues. The ending was sad but since I have read the Harry Potter books it was not really a surprise. There was less action than on the previous movies and that made it seem like it was dragging a little. Overall it was what I have come to expect from this series - excellent.

I'm not a reader of Harry Potter books, if I was maybe I wouldn't have enjoyed it so much. The movie is witty and funny, amazing cinematography.. some of the best I have ever seen. Dark but really likeable. This is one of the best Harry Potter movies made- close tie with the 2nd one. The teen love issues that some people don't like I thought were hilarious. Maybe those people are so old they forgot what its like to be a kid ;) If you like fantasy you'll love it.. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

for such a great wizard, Harry gets his butt kicked the whole movie by every bad guy, when is harry going to actually become the wizard we are waiting for. The story wasn't very long in this one, the action wasn't all that great, the story is just getting to a point where we're done with it I think. This was a decent entry into the series. It was appropriately dark for the book, yet removed some of the darker events - I guess to lighten it up some and reduce the time. Will be interesting to see how they manage to deal with the characters who died in the book but not in the movie in the future installments. Maybe this director was trying to create a challenge for the next director?!? Left out a big battle - maybe he ran out of money after the opening sequence needlessly destroying the millennium bridge? oh well, will be interesting to see how they resolve it in the next two movies.

This sequel, while revealing some essential pieces of the puzzle, takes a boring forever doing it! This is clearly a transition film getting you prepared for the two film finale to the series. It works on that level quite well and spends a lot of time developing some of the characters as they go through adolescence. Its a metaphor for the film itself. One can only hope that the final two films will rise to a level befitting the books.
I saw this in IMAX in 3D. Surprisingly, the 3D only lasted 20 minute. Good 3D, but brief!
I think this is a movie that some will love while others will find fault with. I liked it. Its not perfect but it was worth seeing.

I am a firm believer in reading books before watching the movie...I was disappointed that the movie did not follow the book more closely. Obviously, we would have been in the theater 4 hours, but it would have been worth it! The movie itself was good, and for any HP fan, it is a must see.

I've been watching every single Harry Potter, although I have never read the books. The first was good, second good, but they kept getting worse I felt as the movies continued coming. So I honestly didn't expect this movie to be that good I just wanted to know what Harry Potter was going to be doing, without having to read the book. I was also disappointed with the movie. It was not cohesive, and the direction was terrible. The only actor to do an exemplary job was Helena Bonham Carter. Everyone else suffered because of the awful direction.
I would recommend for all Harry Potter fans to at least see the movie so you will know how it connects to the next two. If you're not a Harry Potter fan, I don't want you to base your like or dislike of the series based on this movie!

Not for the un-initiated. Visuals and cinematography are very good and there is more character focus than in other HPs. However, this movie does not make even a pretense at a stand alone plot, nor has the story on screen so far ,evolved the personalities enough to support a largely character based movie.
Malfoy's conflict was not aided by the long lingering shots, needed more content. Ginny isnt a strong enough character to be HP's love interest and there was no underlying justification for the change to the Hermione/Ron relationship.
It was better in some ways to previous HP movies but really only worked as a transition to the next 2 films

I am alone among my friends in liking the Harry Potter movies. I generally find them to be enjoyable and a reasonable approximation of the story in the books.
This one, however, strikes me as being a loose collection of scenes with little in the way of a cohesive thread to unite them. If I hadn't read the book first, I'm pretty sure I would have found myself lost and confused as the story jumped from scene to scene.
For fans of the book, seeing the beautiful renditions of Hogwarts and its students is a real treat. This movie should really be considered a series of sketches depicting scenes from the book (and some that don't exist in the book at all), instead of a cohesive plot that mirrors the novel.

I regret tot give this review - The movie certainly did not live up to the book or even come close to meeting my expectations. My husband almost fell asleep twice, and my rapid HP friend was beside herself. I found myself confused...and then dismayed.

This movie lived up to it's expectations. It was dark but great. It is one of those movies that leaves you wanting more which is a great sign. I can't wait for the 7th movie (part 1 of course).

I think Harry Potter proved that he had guts by passing up a date to pursue evil, But what was it worth. The death of the professor only proves that evil is the opposite of good and only unreal things can happen when you pursue evil things. jamesflowusa
