I thought the movie was great except I felt like the end of the movie was lacking. The movie kept my intrest the entire time, and the character development was great. I just thought that the fight between Harry and Snape could have used some more work. I do realize however that they ran out of time, the movie was already over 2.5 hours. I would not have minded sitting there for another half an hour though, for a proper ending. There wasn't even a funeral for Dumbledore.

I especially enjoyed the visuals, music and humor. It had roller coaster exhilaration , especially the opening and quidditch match.
It demonstrates the masterful casting that distinguishes the earlier installments. This story captures the growing dark forboding of Voldemort's influence.
However fans of the books will continue to wish that more story elements could have been included, and perhaps bristle as I did at some of the odd things added.
An opportunity was missed to create an action filled climactic battle. As a result McGonnagle, Hagrid and others were underutilized.
But as a part of a movie series, for people unfamiliar with the books, it did hit the high points of the narrative. It's all building up nicely.

Took my two daughters to see this one,brilliant,thoroughly enjoyed it. Kept me glued to the screen for the whole thing.They did a great job sticking to the book,though understandably had to cut some of the memories out to fit into movie format. Really hope making two movies of Deathly Hallows keeps more in.Would recommend this movie to all,especially harry potter fans.

The picture and audio quality was excellent. There is too much left out which makes it difficult to understand much of what was happening. This should have been split into two movies like the last book. These books are too long to try to get everything in. They left out a lot of critical background info. If you read the book you had a clue, if not you are probably wondering What!?!
I enjoyed watching it but even with the PG rating it is not for the younger kids as a lot of the teenage relationship scenes will not interest them at all. Should have left it a PG13 and put in more of the Potter/Dark Lord conflict as after all is really what this is all about.

Ok so let me start by saying that I'm not a hard core Harry Potter fan. However in the past I've always felt the individual movies stood on their own, so I didn't feel it necessary to go back and re-watch the first 5 movies. Wow what a mistake.
This move did not stand on its own at all. Sure there were plot lines that unfolded in this movie, however the majority of it was based on ties to previous films.
This film departed from past themes of the 3 main characters working together to solve some mystery. Instead this one explored topics of romantic relationships.
This movie seems to be loved by many, however I was disappointed. I felt like this one was a place holder so that we can get to the last two.

The movie itself was good but in my opinion missed alot of interesting facts that would have been great to know. I know, I know the book is always so much better than the movie no matter what movie we are refering to. All in all the movie was good but it lacked action like in the book. A Great part of Harry Potter Film series. Kept my attention through out. Everyone did a great job in the film. Filming was bit "Dark" then at ending credits, I saw Tim Burton's name and that explained it all. What a perfect match for this storyline

To start, I would like to say that the look and feel of this movie was amazing. I have always enjoyed seeing how the book translates to film and how my imagination lines up with it (I read each book before it's movie counterpart was released). From a storyline standpoint I was disappointed. I literally left the film angry. For me, there were too many times when there were gaps and changes from the book as well as serious questions left unanswered...especially the end which I was counting on to save it for me. The only thing I can figure, and hope for, is that they will devote more in the 1st installment of Deathly Hallows to fill in most of the important back story they left out of this one. Do not rely on the movies, read the books!

I have read all the books and have seen all the movies and this one was very different it was probably the one movie most unlike the actual book I felt you didn't need to follow the series at all to enjoy this movie. However, it is a little disappointing to read the books and then watch the movie and it be way way off. It was more like a very funny (loved the humor but was not looking for that in this movie) comedy to me then the adventure suspense type the others and books are. Really missed the big fight seen at the end of the book with students & professors against death eaters

Lacked the energy needed to bring this book to life. Lackluster performances in many cases, and a lot of important misses. Little build, score lacked emotion, so by the end of the movie we weren't drawn into the fight between the death eaters and Harry (by the way, where was the DA???). Final scene had none of Snape’s fury in the book, so his Half Blood Prince revelation meant nothing. Alan Rickman (great actor, great Snape) could have done much more here.
Just boring.

This movie does differ from the book but it was well done so I really didn't mind. The important things are in the movie. Some things were not explained well and so if you haven't read the books you might not understand what is going on. In that case just see the movie 2 or 3 times:} But overall I thought it was the best one yet. Ron Weasley's character was absolutely hilarious. I think kids under 10 will think it is to mushy.

The was an enjoyable Potter, but not the exciting action I was expecting, having read the book. Too many important points from the book were left out in favor of new scenes that weren't part of the original story. Much of the book focused on how "He Who Should Not Be Named" came to be and why Snape is the grouch he is. But these tidbits were left out in favor of Hollywood special effects scenes that had nothing to do with the book. It was much like watching a stone skip over the water...it was enjoyable, but not as exciting as seeing what was underneath as passed beneath the surface.

The creativity continues to amaze me. If you are a true fantasy buff and have a vivid imagination when you read, you will be pleasantly pleased with the effects of this movie. This story is told without the aid of excellent acting -- almost none of the players in this movie give anything more than adequate performances. The exception? The Characters are growing up; but they haven't lost their carissma. Photography superb. Plot interesting and special effects as usual,first class. My wife and me have read all the Potter books and seen al the movies. The Half Blood Prince joins the rest as a winner. Go see it!!

This was yet another fabulous installment in the Harry Potter series! I am constantly amazed by the brain of JK Rowling...she is simply astounding! The actors are really coming into their own, and the darker themes are making for great movies. It was fun to see a bit more of Luna in this movie...she is truly a riot :) Definitely one of a kind.

Excellent transitional movie. It stands alone as a very good piece of cinema but, as a transition to the finale, it is excellent. Not to give anything away, but I found it refreshing that they did not decide to beat us over the head with the big tragedy at the end. I was rocked badly enough by the book, i was not looking forward to going through that again. So I was pleased with the way it was handled.
