The relevance of the "Burning of the Burrow/Children of the Corn" moment escapes me, and also feel that the end of the movie is very rushed and underdone. It really needs a much more masterful conclusion to keep us coming back for more. Also some of the plot's details that are omitted in the movie (such as the way the Potion's text is hidden) lessen the suspense of HBP, a quality which makes it the best book, and the most disappointing movie, of the series. Too bad we have the same screenwriter/director team for the remaining movies. Maybe if they read the book?

I'm not the kind of person that hates a movie if it doesn't follow the book exactly, but in this case there was a lot of stuff missing I thought was important. I felt like there wasn't enough between Ron and Hermione and the end was missing things I felt were important.
The movie was fine, and I thought the acting terrific. The director and art people's style in the movie was just lovely; a lot of nearly black and white scenes with a focal point of red (like Schindler's list or Sixth Sense). All in all, it's definitely worth seeing, but if you haven't read the book you'll miss some good stuff.

I sat through the first 2 hours of this movie before I walked out of the theater and they seem to forget what makes Harry Potter a good franchise. They seem to have replaced sweet magic and wizard battles with teenage crushes. I waited patiently for a giant beast war and the first giant beast that comes on the screen was already dead. The movie seemed chopped together like the decayed ruins of an Anne Rice novel come to life. It had none of the report the book carried and I felt as if it was pieced together hastily all in an attempt to get it released. By FAR the worst of the movies in this series. A sad bit of reality the movie was disappointing, nothing seemed to flow, merely placed in chronological order without any feeling.

Speaking from a family that has read every one of the books several times we walked out disappointed. One of my kids even said "They lied on TV that was not even better then # 5". I realize they have to leave some stuff out to make the movie, but really. To leave that much out. To think that I waited that long to see the movie and that is what I got!! Very Disappointed.

If you are a fan of the books at all, don't bother wasting two and a half hours of your life that you will never get back. The screenplay COMPLETELY alters the story of the book (not to mention about completely altering events that happened in the book), leaving out extremely vital and crucial information that will be difficult to explain in the last movie. There were some amusing moments in the movie that I enjoyed, but 90% of the time, I was wishing I could just get up and go home. If you loved the books.. don't waste your time watching this movie. It will be painful for you to sit through.

It's difficult to describe the range of emotions evoked by this movie. It is a wildly entertaining film, full of quirky twists and funny remarks. The relationships between the characters are explored and their natures revealed. The bonds the characters reveal are so realistic and touching, as much as the wizardry and magical aspects are unrealistic. This is by far, the best Harry Potter movie yet for all ages. I hope to see it again soon.

This movie was so anticipated, and I love the series, but I have to admit disappointment. It was so unture to the book! While some scenes were wonderful, others were added that were not in the book, and did not add anything to the plot! Why leave out vital information, then makestuff up that is useless? I feel the same as most of the other viewers, although the movie was enjoyable, so much is left out, which makes it somewhat disappointing. I am a HP fan from the very beginning; before there where movies and only 2 of the books had been published. I believe that this movie was beautifully shot, well-acted and exciting to watch. Movie-goers need to remember that the book was 600+ pages (all of which were jammed with JK Rowlings' descriptions and narratives) and the producers had to make it into a 2.5 hour movie. Things had to be cut; much to my disappointment. However, I must admit that once I remembered that fact myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to everyone.

I feel like part of the Hogwarts family and can't wait for their next letter. This movie draws you in to even more of the dark world with surprises around every corner. ( I did not read all the books) To be with Harry & the continual trials he faces is almost a honor. Watching these kids grow to adulthood & now facing another hurdle (love), you can feel their joy & pain. This film is more than just magic, it's a lesson we can all learn from. A rather dark episode but heartfelt. Great! Yes I did cry too.

This movie definitely does not mirror the book in all aspects, but in the major plot points it does somewhat well. I missed some of Ginny's witticism and some of the better classroom scenes (nvbl, anyone?). A lot of the relationships were portrayed well. I also thought the ending was insufficient to the hugeness of the final event of the book (I won't say anything more, so as not to spoil). Overall, I think it was a decent movie, but the previous 5 were better in my opinion. I hope the next 2 will stick closer to the books & give the best possible climatic ending. I still recommend seeing the movie, it was definitely enjoyable & appreciated!

It was a good movie. I can't quite place my finder on it but something isn't as good with the Harry Potter movies as it used to be.
I think it might just be me and how long they have drug the wait time out on the movies. It could be the director or maybe the scripts.

Half Blood Prince is a step backwards. The acting from the three main stars continues to improve but it's the screenplay in this one that's the problem. There's little character development and even less in the way of action. Even the dramatic ending is devoid of any real emotional impact. This is a film that, like the novel, needed to exist on the strength of it's characters interactions and emotions. While the actors do their best, there's just too little in this script for them to work with. What we are left with is a film that feels like a book mark, simply holding us over for the final two installments. It's not a bad movie, but in the end you are left with the feeling that nothing much really happened.

This was a charming if somewhat dull installment in the Harry Potter franchise. I haven't read the book but I gathered from audience members around me that it leaves out some important parts. But I have no idea how they could fit any more in - it's overweight to the point of obesity and predictable as a stoplight. Considering I didn't know the story to begin with, that's sad. This movie left me feeling just like I did after reading book #6, wanting more. The movie left out tremendous amounts of the book and is the worse for that decision. In the movie, there was little character development, no plot, and oh yeah, not even much of the snogging complained about by the characters so often.
this could have been a much better movie, had the parts left out replaced many of the parts kept in.

This was a good representation of the book, but left out vital parts such as the battle leading to Dumbledore's death and his funeral. I recommend it because it brings our beloved characters into their dating years and sets the stage beautifully for the final quest!

I will start off saying that if you read the book you will probably be disappointed as most usually are since they left out a lot of details and changed a few things. If you never read the books then you are in for a sweet yet action filled movie. Having read the book and knowing what to expect I still jumped during a particular scene, I think everyone in the theater did. Go and have fun at this one.
