Only thing I didn't like about the movie is the lack of Lupin's health declining and that they didn't show Dumbledore in his ornate tomb, other than that, twas wonderful. Quite funny too in several parts.

This movie was in a way a great display of the Harry Potter Characters and the friendships they share with one another. But overall....WAY too much teenage "love affairs" were focused on. If I wanted to see a check flick, I'd go somewhere else. They left out a lot of keys points that were in the book and that disappointed me. I will say, however, that there were some very good moments in the movie that displayed the the kind of story line Rowling's was going for. If you are really into the books like I am, you'll be disappointed with the movie thou.

While a very good movie, not the best of the litter. The cast was brilliant and the camera angles, long shots of the school, and all around directing seemed perfect. I believe this was the slowest book, necessary to connect the previous book with the last so the movie was also the least exciting. It did carry a lot of emotion with audible sobbing coming from the theater. Best movie of the year, well worth seeing twice, but already ready for the next one.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

first of all i just want to say that.. movies that are based off of books usually are never the same as the book you just need to enjoy the movie for what its worth and not try to compare it so much to the book because it will NEVER add up to the book. I do want to say that the movie was AMAZING. The special effects were on point, they were perfect! the acting was impecable. but needless to say they always are. I personally loved the movie, it had a lot of comical relief, it had it's sad moments, tender moments, romantic moments, and it kept you in suspense.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Besides changing the entire ending of the movie from the book, the movie was just dull and lifeless after a strong start. Better than the first movie, but not nearly as good as 2-5.

I think people need to remember when seeing this movie that all six of them are coming from extremely long novels and not everything can be put into a 2 and a half hour movie. They have to pick and choose which points they need to convey to make the movie make the most sense. None of them have been very much like the books and if you don't read the books you might not completely understand what is going on or why. However I still think the movies and this one is no exception are all fantastic. They are almost there own series. I would recommend this movie to anyone for sure. I thought the movie was brilliant and I who have read the books numerous times and my husband who has not read them but is a Harry Potter fan both loved the movie.

While I am as huge a fan as anyone else of the Potter series, I have learned to leave the books aside when I step into the theater. But found this to be nearly impossible in previous installments since I was continually wondering what non-readers would make of various statements or events which took place in the movie. Finally in Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince, there is a movie that holds it own. The seeming lack of special effects and action that have marked the previous offerings, HBP more than makes up for it in cinematic beauty, character depth and emotional involvement. I highly recommend Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince, its a must see on the big screen, and it will definitely save your summer from cinematic doldrums.

Having just re-read the series very recently, the movies always (unavoidably) feel like reader's digest condensed versions, but this was an enjoyable film none the less.
There were some points during the film that felt off, either due to lack of music to fill in spots or just some editing issues, but all in all worth the bucks to go see.

I love the books, & I love all the movies but if you haven't read the books some of these plot changes & differences might be confusing.
I was a little deflated because of lack of big moments like the white tomb & the battle at the end... is just me or didn't we miss the durley's??? Overall because of my love for Harry and his friends I love the movie, but I love the books more. I did enjoy the new bits of romance as they are maturing but again it wasn't like the book and the old saying is true... The book is always better!

I liked it. Obviously it doesn't compare to the book, but I know they can't put everything into the movies. However I was upset that the whole Hogwarts battle was cut out of the end, as well as the funeral (I mean come on, it was more sad when Aragog died!) I was also very disappointed by the ending.... as I have been with the last few movies. I do think they did a good job with the humor, Fred and George's shop was great, and Tom Felton did a MARVELOUS job showing Malfoy's despair in this book. I would definitely see it again and tell my friends to see it!

I enjoyed the movie. There was far less action than the other movies but the relationships and concepts of death eaters etc was well developed. Unfortunately as the books have gotten longer and more developed, is difficult to get everything in a 2.5 hours movie time. May have been better to do in a couple parts like Lord of the Rings in order to get everything in there.

Do "NOT" watch this movie if you've read the books. The begining is totaly new and written, and the ending is none existent. It does not even match up to the book at all. Granted... they got the main points; Harry has a thing for Ginny, Hermione has a thing for Ron,"they" are real, and the main event at the end which everyone knows! "He" dies. Wheres the meeting of the Prime Ministors, Whats with the random battle? And, wheres the great battle at the end!! However if you've not read the books... Go watch it with your family and friends, have a great time, and make sure to get there about 40 minutes early. Its funny, entertaining (in its own way), and has its own story which isn't bad. Get some refreshments, its a 2 hour+ movie!

if you are a fan of the books like i am then you would be a little disappointed. major chunks of the book were left out. i know they can't put everything into the movies. but the entire beginning was different. where were the dursley's? what was up the the showdown at the burrough, and why? the huge battle at hogwarts was completely left out. and leaving out the funeral was just wrong! but if you haven't read the book then this movie was still a good movie.

HP6 left me wanting. I wanted to see more special effects that we have come to associate with the young wizzard of Hogwarts. I also wanted a logical plot, which this movie lacked.
The acting was good as we have come to expect by now from this very experienced cast who, despite valiant efforts of the makeup department, look too old to be believable in their roles. Their faces are no longer fresh and eager but rather, their depictions of their characters have become tired and jaded.
I hate to say it BUT...save your money and wait for the video!

The acting was very good. but if you never read the books these phrases would mean nothing to you even after watching this movie: Torturing children in the cave, The great white tomb, Hufflepuffs Cup, Gaunts, the prime minister and minister of magic, Bill as a part warewolf, tonks guarding hogwarts, the tiara ontop of the cabinet, fluer and bill, Nagini's importance, the sheild only death eaters can pass, nonverbal spells, battle at hogwarts, slugclub, Imperiused rosmerta... They may not be able to explain all this even in two movies now that they removed all this vital information and replaced it with a fake fight at the burrow!

This movie follows the book REALLY WELL. I enjoyed every moment of this movie. It was heartfelt, funny/hilarious at times but also very deep and dark at other times. As always the movie doesn't compare to the book. However, this movie is exceptionally done. I personally cried for the last 20 minutes but hey, I'm a girl! You should definitely see this movie! While the movie was befuddled by the want and need to be a teen love coming of age comedy, it pulled it off at the price of the loss of the majesty and whimsy that captivated me in the other movies. It tried to feed to much too to many types of people and in turn everyone left with an overindulged stomach full of melodramatic boredom. The one thing that saved this movie was the ending, show perfectly and solemnly yet still tarnished by the joking around about love lives. Quite disappointed but still an average summer flick.

If you like or love the book, do not see this movie. The film and lighting quality was so bad it looked like it was shot on 8mm film. Luckily Bruno Delbonnel (the cinematographer) is not shooting the next one. The movie is NOTHING like the book. There is no big battle at Hogwarts and no funeral for Dumbledore. Two key parts that makes up the entire story to the book. Do not see, do not waste your money, do not waste your money.

I was both surprised and disappointed with HP6. The acting was wonderful on all parts. =) Yes, I know that books made into movies can't keep everything in it but I at least expected the plot to not jump around. There was an added scene that was completely unnecessary and instead could have used that time and money to broaden the final scenes of the book. For serious book die-hards, prepare to be both confused and disappointed. For just movie-watchers... well I'm sure you've seen the first five. =/

The directing and cinematography were great. It was as true as two hours 33 mins. can be to the book. However, the whole thing needed to bust loose towards the end and it didn't. Without giving too much away, the passion and whirlwind at the book's end is not conveyed. The end is, indeed, disappointing. Worth seeing 2X.

David Yates took HP- The Half Blood Prince to the chopping block scenes, chapters, even characters were missing - especially near the end. Creating a movie under three hours from a novel is hard, but at least cut the useless scenes (Weasley house torch) to make room for it! Impressed at how dramatically the music replaced pages of an elaborate funeral sad to miss all the characters though. A decent movie, just wishing somethings were left intact while others were not created for the sake of special effects that we are all so accustomed to. Still a 4/5 and if you're a Harry Potter fan it's going to be a 5/5 because you are just so darn excited to see everybody back together again.

The movie will be amazing!! It looks like they stuck to the book more than the last few movies, and it will be so entertaining. Twilight or Harry Potter? You have to be an idiot to pick Twillight, there is nothing to it, no secret plots or hard work on the author's behalf. J.K. Rowling put in so many hints throughout the books that all came together at the end. AMAZING!! Anyone could've written Twlight, it's just a love triangle between a human, Vampire, and Werewolf. It's good, but who cares about it compared to HP!!!
