The 6th installment of the harry potter saga is filled with a little bit of everything for everyone. If your looking for a laugh go. If you want a good riveting plot go and see it. i loved the most out of all the other harry potter movies. Harry Ron and Hermione have really grown up into young adults.

This movie is possibly the best of the series. For those who have read the book, it not only satisfies them by following the plot more closely than any of the other 5 movies, but has a few added scenes to surprise even those who think they know what is coming. This movie shifts its focus from learning magic and fighting Death Eaters, to a closer look at the main characters' emotions. Their love lives, if that is what they are to be called, take center stage throughout the movie. For those who have looked up to a certain celebrated and wise character as they grew up with the novels, the end is just as gut-wrenching as the novel.

This is a film that starts out with a major bang, hitting on all marks, fun, exciting, wonderful true to the story, only to suddenly at 75% through die a horrible death like one of our beloved characters. I felt cheated at the end, by what can only be explained as a sudden rush to finish the film, with no regard to the story or fans. They cut out Snape and Lilly's story, as well as the important Dobbie story. I was left feeling like my favorite book was wonderful on point, only to lose it all near the end.

This is the best of the series to date. It was by far the funniest, which is odd because I don't remember thinking the book was THAT funny. Of course there were some discrepencies between the movie and the book, but what is new? It was enjoyable and didn't feel as long as it was, especially for a midnight showing. AWESOME!

Having just read the book over again 2 days before the movie, I wasn't quite sure how the movie would turn out. As opposed to all the other movies, I feel that this movie was really to build up the characters and strengthen their relationships for what all Harry Potter fans know is coming in the next films. Although there were points I thought were missed or not nearly as dramatic as they probably should've been, I have to say, I loved the film. It was great to really get inside the characters feelings and see a more personal side of them. I'd definitely see it again, and I know I'll buy it when it comes out!

This movie blended the war elements and the funny romance bits of the sixth book. We can definitely see the improvements in acting from the younger actors in this movie. They really made the leap into full fledged acting, and the adult actors were fantastic as usual. Also, the fabulous art direction really enhanced the drama.

walking out of the 12:01 movie, i was almost upset that i had even bothered to stay up all night. i am a HUGE harry potter fan, and have pretty much liked the movies (for themselves vs. compared to their respective books) so far. with HBP, however, not only did the movie not follow the book terribly well but as a movie, it was pretty boring! there was very little plot; the action (which was heavy in the book so they had a lot to work with!) was pretty limited. all in all, it didn't fulfill expectations!

Unfortunately, this movie was used solely to set up the plot for the final two movies, a fact that led to a lack of any real action or much forward movement. Choices were made (likely due to time) and scenes were left out that were some of the book's best, including the final battle at Hogwart's surrounding Dumbledore's ultimate death. For one of the most climactic scenes in the 7 books, this movie sped through it in a way that would have been laughable if it were not such an important oversight.
Hopefully the last 2 movies are out of this world spectacular, because the Half Blood Prince was thrown away in deference to them.

I was actually slightly disappointed. I've gone 2 every opening show of HP,&this one was lacking. This movie varied from the book a bit, 1st noticible in the opening scenes. The actors didn't necessarily "act" like their characters. I don't want 2 spoil anything, but re-read the book then see the movie. Certain characters reactions 2 things were wrong, certain "events" were portrayed completely incorrectly(i.e. london bridge scene, train ride 2 hogwarts, etc)I usually find that the books are almost always better than the movies-but this time-it's a given. The book was WAY better than this movie,&there was a lot they could have&should have touched on,&quite a bit they completely left out. Go see it&make your own observations :-)

i am an avid fan of the harry potter series; i read the books as soon as they come out. watching the movie is invariably in comparison to this experience. I think that in the instance of Harry Potter, Half-Blood Prince, the movie plot left many holes that only those who had read the book could fill in the gaps, and those who didn't, like my companion last night to the premiere, were left bewildered and apathetic. The other movies were more works of cinematic beauty. I feel this one stunk of twilight-esque teen drama.

Being a fan of the books there's a bit to gripe about with the movie (there always is). A lot of characters had little to no screen time. Gone are the Dursleys, Mr. & Mrs. Weasley barely make an appearance. Crabbe & Goile have nothing to say. But, all in all this was a fair adaptation of a better book. I'd see it again (not at midnight though!) and recommend it to anyone (particularly fans only following the movies as as a movie on its own it is entertaining). Much more humor than the other installments. Can't wait for the 7th!

When seeing a movie based on a book, it helps to look at the two as seperate works. Despite teh fact there were several changes from the novel, the movie is the best to date. As some have said, the movie does drag on at parts (namely dealing with the romantic development of the characters) but even when it does, contributions such as comedic relief are added to the film. For those who read the book, the end will be somewhat more abrupt than you would like, but that only beilds anticipation for Deathly Hallows part I.

I was disappointed at many of the changes they made to the movie and the things they left out. To me it felt like I was watching the cliff notes version rather then having and abridged version of the book.
I would still recommend seeing the movie, but don't go in with the high expectations that you have had for some of the other movies. Order of the Phoenix is still my favorite movie.

For me this movie was a much needed breath of fresh air shot into the Harry Potter franchise. They cut back on special effects and while some might think that would take away the "magic" it actually added to it. It made all the efforts that were in it seem more real and more NATURAL. Because after all, for those at Hogwarts magic IS a way of life.
The character development was spot on although there were definitely some key moments I was really hoping would make it from book to screen that didn't. That's the way it goes in film adaptations.
All in all, a very good movie. Worth your money.

After having to wait a few extra months to see this movie, I can say it was worth the wait. Half-Blood Prince is one of the best films I have seen in a while. As with any book that is turned into a movie, especially a long book, not everything can be put into a movie. I've been a fan of HP since the beginning and I've read all the books multiple times. This movie is my new favorite of the series. While there are some changes from the book, which at this point we have come to expect, they did a BEAUTIFUL job with this movie. There are very few slow moments, even with the development of the relationships (which are wonderful)! It was a great adaptation of the book and it only makes me that much MORE excited for the next two movies. Please see this movie, if you consider yourself even the TINIEST of fans, you will love it!

I skipped my norm - rereading all of the books before the new movie - and am very happy I did. In the years since I read the Half Blood Prince, I forgot almost everything but the major plot line so I wasn't upset about "they left out this! they left out that!" I'm sure there are enough other reviews on here to tell you about the how the movie unfolds but i thought I'd just pass along my tip to moviegoers.

First of all, Jim Broadbent gave a brilliant as Professor Horace Slughorn. Indeed, for a movie that I expected to be featuring much more of the excellent Alan Rickman than past movies in the series, I was pleasantly surprised by how much Broadbent's performance took over the screen. In general, it was nice to see some of the adult cast of the Harry Potter series to finally get some more screen time.
Overall, the movie was affecting and well executed. A very nice addition to the Harry Potter series.

You understand anyone who sees this movie at a midnight showing is a hard core HP fan and, unless the movie is really horrific, is going to love it. Of course I missed seeing the Gaunts, Hepzibah and Bill/Fleur but you can't have everything. All in all, i really enjoyed it and cant wait to see it in IMAX.

I thought overall it was an entertaining movie, people who have not read the books I think will think it is very good. However, as I have read the books I thought it was kind of disappointing. All the teens in love jokes provided good comic relief throughout the movie, I thought they relied on it a little too much. I also thought the ending was a little anti-climatic. I had heard they were taking the fight scene out of the end, and disagree for the reasons they took it out, seems almost necessary and would have added to the story and the experience.
As I said I was entertained by the movie, but as someone who read the books, it seems like I enjoyed it for the wrong reasons.

My husband and I just finished watching this only 5.5 hours ago as we went to the midnight showing, and I have to say - even he was impressed! He's not a Harry Potter buff, but has watched all the movies (thanks to bringing him to all of them over the years) and really enjoyed it.
As a reader who also goes to the movies, I never expect to go to the theater and see the book portrayed right. But this movie surprised me - it is pretty accurate. Not that I'm saying it was word for word accurate, but it was a smooth enough plot line to follow that those who have read the books, aren't thinking in our heads - "THEY SKIPPED FOUR CHAPTERS!" or anything like that.
I'd definitely recommend to a friend and will definitely go again.

Just as the story in the books tends to mature later in the series, so do the films. Yates is the fourth and final director of the popular film series, and I wish he would have done the earlier films as well. This movie is so filled with just the right concoction of tension, suspense, and awe that you will assuredly want to watch it more than once in theaters.

HP6 all-in-all was a very good movie. I havent read the books yet so for me the ending was actually a decent ending. The movie, however, did have some lengthy spots of nothing. I guess that would just be fillers, but it looks like they could have replaced the fillers with actual events from the book?? The visual effects were good, as well as the acting. This is my second fav. movie of the 6 ive seen. I would recommend this movie for the visual shots and acting, Wasnt the most entertaining movie from an action stand point, but sometimes thats ok. Especially when you have to set-up for the final showdown in the next two-part movie. Kind of reminds me of LOTR- two-towers setting up for ROTK.

Good movie, but not as good as the other Harry Potter movies. If you are looking for something that is spot on of the book, it's not this movie. Too much difference in the main parts of the book. Some parts are very drab almost to the point of boring.
