It was an OK Potter film. But, in some ways, it missed the book completely. This film was lacking in the end. It was somewhat disappointing to watch how Dumbledore dies. And, they missed the whole battle at the end. It took 2 1/2 hours and there was no major war. I was disappointed. But, it was a good summer flick. And, they did not go into details about the horcruxes or finding them like the book did. I was very disappointed.

I read the book and already expected the movie to not be able have every detail from the book. The book just has way to many details to put into a two and half long movie... Overall I enjoyed the movie a lot. The movie was very funny and enjoyable. I loved that Alan Rickman played professor Slughorn. He played him well and made me laugh a lot. I recommend you go watching the movie!

Although I was initially disappointed with the amount of content that was changed from the book, or just plain left out, I still enjoyed the film immensely. The scenery was beautiful, the acting was, as usual, superb and the general plot was still maintained. WB could have done a bit better, but they did still pull off a great movie... I am looking forward to the next ones in hopes that they don't change as much from the book as this one did.

Obviously it doesn't compare to the book, anyone who has not read the book will think that it is a great movie, but if you have read the book you will be very disappointed! Yeah, it was aight. You've got some wizards, and they fight and stuff, and some dudes die, but you probably already knew that. There is a lot of awkward teenage romance, and Jenny is taller than Harry most def. Kind of funny, but don't be like the people in my theatre and laugh continuously. If you do, someone will most likely stab you or something; at least, if you do that, I hope someone stabs you or something. Bye.

The movie focused way more on the teenage lust than it did on the actual facts/info of the book. There was a lot of information left out, a lot of important information at that. I know that it's hard to fit all the information into 2 1/2 hours, but I think they could have done a little better. I wasn't really impressed by this movie. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was much better than Order of the Phoenix! I was disappointed that there was no big fight scene, but I understand why they didn't put it in when the last book has the ultimate fight scene in it. Of course, since the last book is being made into 2 movies, they could have had some fight scenes without it being redundant since the ultimate fight will be in the final movie. I also was disappointed that we could not see Dumbledore's funeral. I'm not sure I would have put it in this book, but I would definitely start the next movie with it! Overall, this Harry Potter movie was one of the better ones.

Normally, Harry Potter films only loosely follow the book such as the 3rd and 4th film. The 5th and now this one being directed by the same director Yates, are much better. In fact the Half Blood Prince is a 8 out of 10 in terms of following the book. There are direct quotes from the book, which makes this movie very enjoyable. The action flowed and the timeline of events was continuous and did not jump like in Order. It actually felt like Harry was at Hogwarts for a year and not 2 months. I would recommend see this movie before your the last one! Enjoy the film!

As a die hard Harry Potter fan, I must applaud the director of this installment of the series. Now I don't think any of the movie series can hold a candle to the books, but this is by far the best coverage of the novels. We got an inside look at the castle, the special effects were nicely done, and it covered many of the important facts. As the books are 800 pages+ it cannot possible contain all the details that we enthusiast would love, but for a 2.5 hour movie, it does its job. It takes you on all the roller coasters that a good movie should; humor, action,suspense, horror, romance, and drama. Well worth the cost of a ticket. Good job...

For the most part, I found that they did a good job including lines from the movie and following the story line, with some changes to help coincide with previous movies. However, I think that those who have not read the books were probably left a bit bewildered. The movie had a lot of comic relief, which always helps keep the audience entertained. I had a few issues with the movie though. I really would like to know why exactly they had the death eaters attack and burn down the Weasleys house?? That was definitely not in the book and I cant come up with an explanation for what purpose that served. If anyone else knows, please enlighten me

In my opinion, this is definitely the best movie of the series and one of my favorite movies of all time. It offers a viewer everything they want and more. I was actually very surprised that this only had a PG rating. The film had action, drama, COMEDY, suspense. I laughed, I screamed, I cried. It left me wanting more but gave me so much at the same time! I’ve read all of the books and I do not recommend re-reading the 6th one before watching the movie. Watching the film with a fresh mind will allow you to enjoy it for what it is; a great film. I highly anticipate the next two films and after watching this film, so will you. Final Word: Go See This Movie! If you don’t absolutely love it, you will definitely enjoy it.

I haven't read this book since just before book 7 came out and I normally read them before seeing the movie. Through the last 5 movies I usually end up disappointed about something because things are changed or left out that I considered important. However with not having read the book this time I can saw with absolute certainty that this MOVIE was amazing. It was funny, serious, well put together, it looked great, and was overall entertaining. Now in regards to the BOOK I have been reminded that there were a couple of things added to the movie that weren't in the book and some things that were omitted.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought the character development was excellent and truly just fun to watch kids be kids. I wish there were more hours to make every moment in the book appear on screen, but film is just different. Overall, I thought it stayed remarkably well with the book. Well done! Go see it!

In the past I walked away from HP films disappointed, wondering where the rest of the book had gone. But with HBP I found they did a much better job of including all the vital info. While a few side stories disappeared or took a back seat the main theme was clear and well delivered. I was also very pleased to see the life come back to the characters. They allowed time for true character and relationship development. I walked away a very happy movie goer. My only complaint and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that they altered the ending. They left out an important battle and something else that I won't say for those non HP book readers. I would recommend this film to anyone!

I watch a lot of movies, and like to think I have pretty good taste in them. My 16 year old sister came into town for a visit so I thought going to the midnight HP would be a fun thing. It was completely worth waiting 2 1/2 hours at the theater for! I haven't been impressed with the movies in the past, but this one really shines and holds it own, despite being an instant hit regardless of quality. I think I liked it because it focuses more on the characters and less on the action, although some good opportunities were missed to have some awesome wizard battles. Otherwise, though, I found the film a refreshing version of the book that really works on the big screen.

I enjoyed myself last night. I hadn't read the book in ages, and I think that helped. A friend who went to see it with me was VERY angry about the changes. I just want to remind everyone that the movies and the books are telling similar, but not identical stories. I only wish they'd explained the title like Rowling did in the book; this was the first time I thought that reading the novel would really have helped explain something.

This was the first movie in the series that I saw the movie without reading the book first. Unfortunately, the movie really seemed a lot like filler material to get to the 7th book. We went to the "midnight" showing opening day, and am really wishing I had just skipped it and waited for the DVD.
Mind you, the special effects were excellent as usual, but the storyline was pretty empty of character development save for a few romantic interests.

Loved the movie, thought the characterizations were wonderful and the way Draco was portrayed was spot on. My little ones even stayed awake for the midnight show and loved it. I DID however, find the scene at the end between Harry and Snape lacking. It was such an important scene and it just fell flat and too short. Loved the movie, but was disappointed in the ending.

The budding romances were background to the darkest of the books to date; why did they end up being most of the plot? Made up chase scenes, only passing attention paid to the introduction of the horcruxes, the "Snape" debate gutted by Alan Rickman's expressions. In this one it's probably better if you haven't read the book, or forgot most of it. A real disappointment.

The movie was truly good. The ending was a bit abrupt compared to the book, but it was performed very well and the audience (teenie-boppers) was in complete silence. I feel that it did not follow the book in completeness, but I would go and see it again. There was lots of humor, which was wonderful! The graphics were hot and the movie was fast paced. This was my favorite movie out of all of them so far. It really kept to the story line in the book. There was a lot less special effects which made it seem more realistic. There was a lot of humor in this movie that I loved. It really had all emotions in this great movie. I def. recommend going to see it!

I may be a purist, but the liberties taken baffled me in this movie. The Burrow destroyed? The elimination of the cloak entirely? The ministry doesn't exist. The worst - Harry was remade into a spineless loser completely at odds with the character developed thus far. Although, I must admit, the cinematography was stunning. JKR did a great job writing the book in the first place - why it needed to be rewritten, I do not know.

As a reader of the series I would have to say I was very disappointed. I now realize why they didn't release the movie after the summer of the Dark Knight. It lacked a real plot and to be honest was relatively boring. I felt sorry for the people who watched it who have never read the book. It seems since about the 3rd film they (HP, RW, and HG) have been the same age. Lupin got about 2 minutes of screen time? And Quidditch was terrible. It seems as if this film blinded many people by its use of comedy. Not enough magic nor dark magic. When you read the book you can feel the intensity of the Death Eaters/Voldemort and their wrath. Bellatrix held her end though I will say. All in all disappointed that we waited 8 extra months for this :(

FANTASTIC movie! Best of the ones out. The cave scene was my favorite. The movie deviates from the book, but only slightly. Can't wait to see it again!

This movie is a good segue to the final chapters of the Harry Potter series. I was a bit disappointed that some vital pieces were left out (the explanation and discovery of some of the horcruxes, Dumbledore's funeral). Overall, the special effects were better than in previous movies and there were a few scenes that were quite eerie. I am anxiously awaiting the fianl movie(s)!

The movie balanced content and sensitivity with great elan! Look out for the intricate details, that are so close to what the book makes you feel. The last few minutes are SUPER and the dying scene will make you cry. I would say, most of the important aspects of the book have been covered considering a transfer from book to big screen. It wont disappoint! Draco Malfoy's most accomplished performance so far.. The young Voldemort is slightly disappointing.. but Harry-Hermione are magic! Ron is beyond cute in the love potion scene!Don't miss it!

The movie itself I can genuinely say although dark and slightly cut off, the overall movie experience was enjoyable. I am highly anticipating part 2 of the film 2 1/2 hours did cover an okay chunk, but of course was still missing a good portion of the book hopefully of which will be more revealed in the next film.
