As an avid and die-hard Harry Potter fan, I have never really been truly satisfied after seeing the books I loved so dearly translated on screen. Until now. HP 6 does a brilliant job of blending the real world and the wizarding world. I was laughing out loud and thoroughly surprised at how much more real the characters seemed. David Yates did an absolutely fantastic job directing this film. It was aesthetically pleasing and flowed so very well.
If you haven't read the book in a while, you'll be fine. There was not a lot left out of the movie from what I could tell.
I can't wait to see it again!

I was very disappointed with the film. Even my kids (ages 10-16) gave it only 3 out of 5 stars. Their biggest complaint was how un-exciting the film was.

I'm not sure why the screen writer and director felt that one of the best selling books of all time needed to be re-written - but they failed to make Roling's book better and unfortunately managed to highlight very well the more superficial - young teens in love story line - while adjusting or completely skipping over critical components to the true story. Stick to the books gentlemen - that's why we are coming to see the movie - it's not about you - its about the books. I would have gone to the theater many times to see a well represented version of the books. I won't be back to the theater to see this one.

The movie seemed anticlimatic, the 3/4ths of the movie nothing happend and then the big finish was a dud. No ending battle or anything. This movie never should have been rated PG, it should have been at least PG 13 to keep its viewers awake.

The only problem was it became a teenage romance film. There was too much romance. The book was dark and scary and there wasn't enough of that. It was funny though, I did love the funny parts and seeing Quidditch again but there wasn't enough of the dark stuff that was in the book. Other than that it was really good. Tom Felton has really matured, I couldn't believe how much he's grown. They've all grown so much into their characters. I am glad that they've signed on till the end. If there wasn't so much romance, I probably would have given it a better rating.

Daniel and Tom really develope the characters of Harry and Malfoy to an exceptional level. Tom Felton really does an amazing job in his struggle to do what is right by Malfoy. What I really didnt like is that they tried to make it overly funny when they could have given it a more dramatic tone. While Ron has a lot of 'funny' lines I think they were just too forced and over emphasized. However, the end completely makes up for anything that could be criticized in terms of costume continuity and the lines.

HP fan beware. The tone of the movie is too light compare to the seriousness that the book projected to set up for the next installment of the story. It seems that the movie is a "cliff note" edition of the book. Every scene and plot was abbreviated and rush, which I think is understandable considering the intense and complex storyline in the book. The whole gravity of the ending is made into something so fluff and inconsequential. We got to see the brilliance performance by Rupert (Ron) and Tom Felton (Draco). At the end of the movie, I felt no connection to the characters and the severity of the story itself. I felt nothing, which is disappointing and "sad".

The additional comedic moments in this movie added an element of pleasant surprise, which nicely complements the shock of things jumping out at you and beloved characters dying (not that any Harry Potter fan wasn't expecting that). The ending scenes were downplayed slightly from what happens in the book, more so than just a lost in medium translation tragedy. Otherwise, I would have given this 5 stars. Daniel Radcliffe has come a long way since The Sorcerer's Stone! I was impressed! And Rupert Grint as well! It's neat to watch them develop on screen as they grow up and their characters mature.

This movie is excellent, and is a fabulous representation of the book. Obviously some things needed to be cut out, and the book tells a more complete and emotionally drawing version of the story, but unlike Order of the Phoenix (whose movie I thought horrible in comparison to the book -- so much so I'd nearly recommend not watching movie 5 and simply reading the book in its place), HP6: The Movie did do the book much justice.

We went to the midnight showing where everyone in the packed house REALLY wanted to be there. The movie lived up to its hype and we thoroughly enjoyed it. the characters are still endearing and tho nothing can compare to the genius of the written work, it was thoroughly entertaining and brilliantly done. The cast is perfect and the special effects are exceptional. Did not disappoint!!

What a complete load this movie was. There is absolutely no climax in this movie that left me with numb legs, throbbing veins beating some death march through my exhausted body as I struggled to keep my eyes open.
The first wizard and witch brawl at hogwarts does not take place. Boom, dead Dumbledore and a stumbling bumbling anti-climatic horrorshow ending to complete my night of pain and misery.
Major Hollywood studios are in a state of movie he11 and should go the way of the dodo. Avoid this movie and possibly anything else that Yates directs for the rest of his cookie cutter career. Overall, I was extremely impressed. Most of the things that were changed or omitted were done well and appropriately. I was a little disappointed that the battle at the end was omitted, especially the part about Bill being attacked be Fenrir. However, I understand why this was taken out, and the movie did not suffer for it. The movie was funny, exciting, and I will definitely be seeing it again.

There was nothing to this movie, no background info on characters, no really mystery. Everything seemed like it focused on romance between the students, who cares?? Barely any of the previous characters were in this movie, and Harry still hasn't become this great wizard, he's just the same old Harry from the last movie. No explanation as to the Half Blood Prince???( i haven't read the books yet) and as such i wash expected the same quality movie as the previous ones, and it was a disappointment. There wasn't even that much special effects fighting scenes.

Although this movie does not provide as many turning points in the Potter saga, it does provide a chance for the characters to really grow. The actors are truly comfortable with each other, themselves, and the art form which is very refreshing on screen.
You will find yourself confused if you have not read the books as just seeing the previous movies will not suffice. None the less, just because you have not read the books does not mean you will not enjoy the movie, it just means you will need to research yourself a little to keep up under stories of the plot. These movies keep getting better and better and although its a long one you will be enthralled the entire way through! Highly recommended.

The movies are growing more interesting, the characters older and the plot darker. My main Potter fans (children) are growing with them :-) So I think the flm was great and good for my kids. But younger kids may want to be left at home. Fun and humor in the way Young love is handled.

The movie does differ some from the book, but the storyline and characters are fabulous! I was engaged and pleased throughout the entire movie, even leaving the theater wondering when I could see the film again. The actors seem to have really grown into their characters and do a great job of portraying the inner struggles going on in all of them.
Like I said, there are some changes from the book, but they all serve to enhance the storyline and make the plot clear. The end of the movie is a perfect set up for the movies to come.

Despite the fact that all of the movies leave out many details of the books themselves, this particular Potter movie turned out very nicely. It not only captured the books events in very good detail, but also kept the viewer on the edge of their seat. Throughout the movie the theater was dead silent with suspense, bursting with laughter, or crying. Overall the movie was great. I would definitely pay to see it again!

This movie was a horrible betrayal of one of my favorite books of all time. Vital parts of the story were left out (the memory of the Gaunts, the memory of Hokey the house elf which leads us to the conclusion that Hufflepuffs cup is a horcrux, Harry finds out that it was Snape who originally brought the prophecy to Voldemort, Dumbledore's funeral to name a few). And they botched several scenes they did include, like Aragog's buriel, Dumbledore's death, and when Harry hides the Half Blood Prince's potions book he does not see Ravenclaws diadiem (another horcrux) As someone who grew up with Harry Potter, I was utterly dissapointed at how this movie mocks one of my favorite books.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The acting in this movie is phenomenal. It is so good it almost distracts from the huge cuts from the book that are key to the story line. Very disappointed in the lack of the build up to discovering who the Half Blood Prince is. Its reduced to a short clip and one line. I'm the half-blood prince. I would have imagined that with it being the title they would have spent just a moment longer on developing that part of the story line. My suggestion would have been to not add in so much development about the characters growing older, especially when Dumbledore tells Harry he needs a shave..... and replace it with key moments from the book.

Like the books, this movie balanced with great laughs, heartwarming relationships, and terrible sadness. Overall I think the movie did a good job of staying true to the book, while adjusting plot points to make smooth transitions over the material they just didn't have the time to cover. All in all, I think it rates near the top of the HP movies. The actors have matured to give impressive performances, the writing took into account the age of the characters and didnt mind being more PG-13, and the scares were real and unforgiving. The end makes you want and need the next two movies to be released.

Perhaps I expected too much, but this film was not all I hoped for. It was good, certainly had much more humor than the others. But it was also choppy, left out important things that made it, as a film, incomplete (hopefully most have read the books). It also dragged a bit, some of the dialog so fast you couldn't hear. That said, look forward to the next. Hopefully by splitting the book into 2 movies they can do a better job.

I always read the book after the movie...so that it acts as a sort of "extended dvd" in my mind. I am very interested to start this book, knowning there must be much that had to be left out so that I can start piecing together the puzzle. This movie was very enjoyable - just the right mix of humor and light moments with dark and serious ones. Well done and highly recommended!!
