You hate to see some changes they make, but you know have to do it... it is a movie they can't do it the same as the book... It was very funny in a lot of it. I thought Draco's struggle with his difficult task was played brilliantly. Overall a great movie and a fun time. I will definitely to back for the IMAX experience.

Those who have read the book know how the movie ends, so it was with some trepidation to see how they would do this in the movie. It was done very well. The movie struck the right chord with some laughter early. You get to see how the characters, especially Malfoy, start the transition to adults. The cast is also growing in their acting. After the movie it ws a bit somber,you wanted to be 'yes a great movie',but were still thinking about the end, Can''t wait for the next movie!

I will hear nothing about the poor acting of the first two movies (they were so young!) the darkness of the third and fifth movies (aren't these supposed to be children's movies?) or the blind wandering away from the books themselves (don't you people read?). This was the best Harry Potter movie since Chamber of Secrets. It's not particularly close to the book, but it's finally close to the heart. I chose to watch these as fan vids made by a person with a budget, and with that in mind, I am totally impressed.

Go see this movie. It's wonderful. It'll make you laugh, cry, jump in your seat... I look ten years younger and lost 25 pounds! Okay, maybe not that last part, but it is really good and, for the fans of the books, does a pretty good job of staying true to the original storyline.

After having just completed the sixth book, I went to the opening of the movie last night. While I enjoyed it overall, I was a bit bothered by the many discrepancies between the book and the film. I suppose that's often how it goes when books are adapted for the movies, but I thought there wore more changes than there should have been. Some parts were quite funny and others truly frightening, but I felt that some of the crucial action was missing. I would recommend it more readily to someone who has not read the book and won't keep a tally of discrepancies as I did. And if I could do it over again, I would not have gone through the effort of dragging myself to the theater in the middle of the night.

I loved it. The graphics were amazing, the story unfolded perfectly and the romances were too cute for words. This movie has fight scenes, kissing scenes, and hilarious scenes. I am going to see it one more time. There was so much going on! It keeps you on your toes.

I don't get why people are freaking out saying that this movie didn't follow the book at all. They don't have to if they really don't want to. It's a movie BASED on the book, not a movie OF the book. They can take bits out and put new things in, so don't be expecting a page-by-page movie where everything happens the same way as in the book, because it certainly doesn't. I thought it was an extremely good movie, because I felt like I was really feeling emotions towards some of the characters (cough cough, Lavender Brown, I HATED HER). All in all, this movie was very well planned, exciting, and comical at times.

I thought the movie was good but it was slow in some areas. I think the development of the romances was nice but a little too much of it. They did not have a funeral when they could have cut out some of that other stuff. I did enjoy the funny parts, which it had many of. Overall still a good movie but could have been better.

Positive - Entertaining and worth seeing. Professor Slughorn was a great addition to this movie.
Negative - I left feeling the action and entertainment in the trailer was not there. Teenage romance-hormone factor played up a lot causing skip in plot development.
Hanging ending was going to be difficult. However, the film ending irked me by changing the way things happened.
What is up with all the extended quiet in this film? At times I felt like there was almost no soundtrack??? except the munching of popcorn and slurping of soda.
Finally, I wanted to look at my watch at least three times which means the movie lost my attention even more than that.
Solid three stars - no more.

I had really high hopes from this movie and was quite disappointed with the additions & omissions from the book. Whoever wrote the screenplay did a poor job on adaptation! The character development was good & the acting was great by all main characters, but the plot of the story was badly handled. The focus was too much on relationships between the teens instead of figuring out who the Half Blood Prince was and the "CRUX" of the story...the HORCRUXES were very poorly described.
Good movie for people who HAVE NOT read the book, but quite irritating for fans of the book. I thought Goblet of Fire was the best movie so far, as it stayed as close to the book as it could.

This was by far the best in the Harry Potter series. The actors truly brought the characters to life. We could feel Hermione's heartbreak when Won Won was joined at the hip with Lavender Brown. Ron was hilarious with his one liners and of course, Harry had clearly come to accept his fate as the chosen one. Yes there were one or two things in the movie that didn't happen in the book. So what!!! It was thrilling, entertaining and just plain fun. And isn't that what a movie is supposed to be? See it again and again.

If you ask me the director ended this all wrong. At least in the book he goes back home. When this movie ends you feel like you have been cheated from parts of the movie. The credits come when you’re expecting to see more. It leaves you hanging & wanting more. I feel like this movie was more of a prequel to year 7 due to year 6 not being "wrapped up." The director did a good job ;however, as far as selling tickets & even books. Because now, all those that never read the books, will go buy year 6 & 7 just to be satisfied. I still think the director could have put 10-15 more minutes into the movie to bring to a conclusion and properly end year 6. My advice is to wait for it to show in the Imax to see so you at least get a better experience.

Let me say from a pure movie go-er point of view it was a two and a half hour set up movie. I totally enjoy the Harry Potter series but this one was full of cute dialog and not very much action. I still get annoyed when the pure displays of power from the the senior characters seem to be inconsistent. For instance Dumbeldore can travel great distances in this movie with Harry simply clinging to his cloak but is incapable of traversing a simple lake to get to a mound in the center without the use of a boat. The books may go into greater detail about these kind of things but to a viewer it just seems kind of silly. Overall I did think it was a good movie and flowed relatively well but kind of slow.

I don't think I've laughed watching a Harry Potter film so much. From the many love triangles (and love potions) between Ron, Lavender (Ron's snogging partner), Harry, Ginny, Dean, Hermionione (and her very cute but obsessed gent), I think it was a brilliant plan to lighten up the movie and prepare all of us who love the book for the very sad ending.
All of the action and central plot points are hit, including the very important stuff. As a bonus, Tom Felton was given much more of a chance to show that he is good actor, as did Daniel Radcliffe.

Good acting except for Harry in the kissing scene. Lots of laughs, a good one to see in the theatre. The best of the Harry Potter movies but it doesnt follow the book again. The movies are good but I wish they would have made more of an effort to stick to J.K. Rowlings story. As a fan (read: die-hard fanatic) of the books, I was concerned about the amount of chopping the screenplay would undergo. However, the movie was incredible; it was the best so far in my opinion. A few small side plots were abandoned for the sake of the hunt for the horcruxes, but it wasn't a huge loss, cinematically speaking. The kids seemed more like actual kids in this movie than any of the others, and it kept a lighthearted undertone despite the gravity of the overall situation with Voldemort. Added bonus: the amazing Alan Rickman as Snape finally got the screen time he deserves. This movie is a must-see, even if you haven't read the books.

The Half-Blood Prince was partially ruined for me because I recently reread the sixth book and had extremely high expectations. The movie was light and funny in the beginning and I was disappointed with the lack of its similarity to the novel, but I understood the need to speed it up a little. There was a certain scene around christmas break that was stupid because it was not in the book and didn't add to the plot.
All in all, it was a good movie, but the plot could have been adapted better. A friend of mine had never seen any harry potter movies and he hated it. But when a Harry Potter fan doesn't have the book fresh in their mind, then they will enjoy the sixth movie.

I felt like this movie was very informative. There wasn't a lot of action involved, but it helped you understand the characters a great deal more. Overall, I enjoyed it. It was still quite suspensful and a fun watch!

Movie was great. Stays true to the books although it does have a couple of large gaps. The cinematography was fantastic. Great angles and decent special effects. The actors handle the teen angst quite well throughout the movie and the scenes dealing with the everpresent love triangles are the lighter parts of the movie. It does leave you wanting more at the end, you just hope number 7 isn't too far away!

They captured the essence of the book, while having fun. The audience broke out laughing many times and there was dead silence during dramatic scenes Both Draco and Snap characters came alive from the book - just as I had imagined when I read it. Daniel, Rupert and Emma continue to delight and captive. Will watch it again and again.

I saw the movie with my daughter and her friend. We all enjoyed it. As in the previous movies the actors were great! The movie was every bit as thrilling as the book! I loved the way Draco and Snape were portrayed - you very nearly feel sorry for them both! And Bellatrix is totally insane! Great movie - can't wait for the next one!

If you like HP movies, this is probably the best one. If you are looking for book adaptation, you might be a little disappointed. There were sections in the book that I thought should have definitely been in the movie and some parts of the movie did not follow exactly which I also liked more in the book, especially the ending. However, the movie was quite humorous in scenes and the cinematography was very well done. Definitely a go see HP movie.
