This was a much better adaptation to the book. They couldn’t cover it all, but what was in this movie was truly magical.
The character development in this movie was so much better than expected. There were so many times that an actor did not have a "line" but their entire being was flooded with emotion.
I laughed, cried, and most of all smiled. A must see! It was worth it 12:01am

The director of the new HP film really outdid himself. Some of the shots in the movie are absolutely beautiful. Although the movie does stray from the book a tad, I'm still a huge fan. This was well worth waiting for.

This was an amazing book but the movie fell short. They left out some of the most important details and the details that they did included were not done the justice that they deserved. The acting was fine, the music was great. I am looking forward to the next two movies but I think that because of the let down of this one 12AM will not be my first pick in show times.

This movie is by far the least like the book. If you have read the book, it's proably best that you DO NOT see this movie. The director/writers have taken out entire story lines (Fleur and Bill, Rufus Scrimjeour, etc..) and added their own (a fight in the fields beside the burrow and the burrow catches on fire--WHAT??). The entire last chapter of the book is missing from the movie!! On the other hand, if you haven't read the book, there is NO WAY you'd be able to follow the story lines that were left in this movie because without all the appropriate sub-stories, the movie just jumps around.
Bottom line: stick to the books-they're always better!

I've liked every Potter film more than the one before it, but this one was by far the best one yet. I've never read the books just because I don't want to be disappointed when they change things, so just from an "I don't know anything about anything", I thought it was fantastic! VERY funny too! I enjoyed the movie, but I thought it was almost more of a comedy this time around. People were laughing every 5 minutes. Strange for Harry Potter. I felt like the ending was so short and they could have spent less time focusing on the beginning and more on the end.

Throughout watching the Half-Blood Prince, I had a sneaking suspicion that no one on the production team had actually read the book. HP6 is all about the blurry line between good and evil, about how talented people can be lead astray. The movie was a watered-down, summer blockbuster that ignored the darker side of the book and instead focused solely on teen love, except for the essential plot moments that needed to be done to set up the seventh and eighth films. And these, of course, were railroaded through without giving them enough time to develop. The choices of what to cut were poor, and the additional scenes were atrocious. Movie fail.

I am a huge fan of the books, but this film stayed as true to the words as it could have, while maintaining a reasonable running time.
There were many subtle clues and details thrown in for the hardcore HP fans.
Maybe not the best Potter film (I still really enjoy the third movie), but it was amazing nonetheless.

I try not to compare movies to their respective books...otherwise you are always disappointed. That said, I think David Yates did an amazing job. Yes, there are some missing scenes (some that are arguably essential for story continuity in the seventh movie). Yes, there are some new (and somewhat gratuitous) scenes. However, there are many scenes that stick very closely to the book. Overall, I think they did an amazing job of putting almost 700 pages of text into 2.5 hours. The added humor was also a bonus! I think this is the best one yet, and I can't wait to see the opening sequence in IMAX 3D!!

If you have read the books you will absolutely see this movie.
While there were many things missing from the story that made the books great I understand they cannot fit everything into the film. Nevertheless the story is far too good to pass up.
Characters were once again well played, and nicely cast.
I'll be seeing this one again in theater well before I can buy the DVD.

This movie was annoying because it strayed from the book so much! It left many things out such as the meeting with the prime minister, the bridge fall in detail and then the death eaters stop and get olivander which does not happen in the book, Harry waiting in a coffee shop hitting on some chick when Dumbledore gets him when in the book he is at home and Dumbledore goes to the Dursleys to get him, the relationship with Harry and Jenny is short lived, a couple of the memories that Dumbledore shows Harry was missing, the way it ends was just all wrong, and these are just a few. I would have to say if I did not read the books, I may have actually been delighted to watch this movie, but for me, it was like watching The Prisioner of Azkaban.

This movie did not follow the book, and it was as if they tossed a coin to see which parts of the book made it into the movie. I went with someone who had never read the books, and they were completely lost. These movies are made for those who have read the books, which is not what they are supposed to be. I do have to say that the acting was great, and the effects were amazing. The only reason this movie is not a one. By far the worst of them all.

For those who have read all the books, this movie might end up being a little disappointing because they not only omit several things from the book, but in this one they also change things from the book. Overall though, this movie is the best of the series. It tells the story it needs to tell very well without any moment of boredom. There is actually quite a bit of comedy in this movie. It also brings together the characters that we all hoped would get together. The parts with special effects whether large or small, flow seamlessly with the rest of the movie. This is one of only a couple of the Harry Potter movies that I felt like we the audience were really put inside the wizarding world, instead of just watching it.

BY FAR the best movie yet!!! As with all the Potter movies, there's always the concern about how much damage they'll do to the story line, but they did a fantastic job! There was a perfect balance of funny with serious, which kept the movie from being too ridiculous or depressing. The audience spent a lot of the movie laughing at the antics of Harry and Ron, and even Dumbledore! I've heard some people say the end was a tad abrupt, but in my opinion, so was the book. All of the actors did a brilliant job, and I'm really looking forward to the quality of the final film. Half Blood Prince can definitely go down as my favorite of all the movies so far (A feat that hasn't been achieved since the first movie came out). Go see it!!!

I read all seven books several times, even re-read the HBP in preparation for the film. I was quite disappointed in the adaptation of the film. I believe they are trying to produce films that are independent of the books so the folks that have not read the novels will still enjoy the series. Bitterly disappointing! Very few memory clips, no battle scene at the end, senseless scenes not in the book (burning of the weasley home), and a tremendous shallowing of harry, ron and hermione. more focus on their love lives than the struggle against voldemort. we won't attend another premier.

I loved this Harry Potter movie. One thing I liked is that it seemed to better explain why Snape did what he did. I loved that there was a lot of humor in the movie. It was really funny. Also I liked how they started to show Ginny and Harry becoming closer in preperation for the end of the next book.

I confess myself disapointed. I am a big fan of the Harry Potter books. I also love the movies. I understand that movies are going to be different than the books. But that was the worst one of the movies. They added things in. They left out the battle at Hogwarts. All this movie was was a romantic comedy. The acting was good. If you are more into the books then you to will be disapointed.

I loved the new installment of harry potter i have been waiting for it to come out since last year when it was pushed back. It was funny advenutures and worth standing in line for two hours just to sit and wait another hour for it to start. I can't wait til the final one comes out and this one is out on dvd. I plan on going bsck to see it again before it is out of theatres.

The film was well worth the wait both in the delay of the release date and the three and a half hour wait at the theater. Outstanding acting and quite humorous at times. One of a kind! Bravo!

I definately enjoyed this one better than Order of the Pheonix. I think as far as entertainment The HAlf-Blood Prince was overall a good film.
