This story picks up where Order of the Phoenix left off and continues the story very well. IF the viewer is a Harry Potter fan, they'll notice so many substories were eliminated. Fred and George's part was well done, as was the search for the Horcruxes; the story really came to life with the evolution of the Potions book. The special FX were amazing! All in all, very good movie but definitely different from the book!

This movie was great! I loved it start to finish. There are some variations from the book but that is always the case! I had to learn not to compare them or you cheat yourself on the movies. I would first like to say that I love all the Harry Potter books and films. The first 5 movies were outstanding and followed the books pretty well. However, with this version of the 6th book, I am very disappointed. First, they left out a ton of details that were crucial to the story line. I would have been a little bit confused if I didn't read the book before hand. Secondly, they added scenes that were not even in the book. They should have kept to the original storyline.

I enjoyed the movie, but out of the entire film series, this one deviates from the book the most. loved the humorous elements that were added to the film and this is definitely the most I have ever laughed while watching a Harry Potter movie. However, I found myself wishing that more key details from the book had been included. Hopefully the funeral scene will be incorporated into the next film; that was the biggest disappointment. And did I blink? Because I thought Ron and Hermione were going to snog at some point and I didn't see it; isn't that what the headlines said prior to the movie release? Still, it was a good story line; I liked the movie and think anyone who loves the series should see it.

As with the other movies, cuts and deviations from the book are to be expected (or else the movie would be 5 hours long). I didn't find any of the cuts offensive, although I am curious to see how they will handle some things in #7 because of what was cut from #6. If you have not read the books or seen any of the other movies, you will be frequently lost. If you are a real HP fan, you will love this movie as I did. (I won't say anything specific so I'm not a spoiler.)Definitely worth sitting in the theater an hour before showtime to get a decent seat!

My eight year old daughter and I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this movie for a while now. We both were a little dissapointed. She didn't like that they left out so much from the book. I felt like there were many of the smaller details that made the book so fantastic(it's my favorite one)were glossed over and too much time was spent on the scenes with big special effects. Things we did like were that they started off right where Order of the Phoenix left off, and the effects were amazing. The relationships between Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginny done well. The comedic timing was great, there was humor for me and for my daughter.

I thought this was a very safe movie. The hard part was that the book had SO much detail so naturally they wouldn't be able to include it all. I thought they should've made it scarier and more action packed, thus changing the rating to PG13. I thought it was better than the 5th one but certainly not David Yate's best

As for accuracy, this film is on par with the third film, somewhat better than the 4th, and not nearly as good as the 5th. There are some noticeable plot points missing and there is an added scene that seems wholly unnecessary.
Otherwise, the movie had some moving and powerful scenes, some genuine comedy, and an abundance of cheese/schmaltz.
Worth a look if you are a Harry Potter buff, but also likely to be a little disappointing.

I understand that when making a movie from a book it is relatively impossible to include everything. But, there were several scenes left out that I was really looking forward to. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the movie, but was disappointed when it ended and certain parts had been left out.

Book 6 was my favorite of the Harry Potter series, so it's hard to compare. There were quite a lot of deviations and loose interpretations from the novel, but overall I feel the director did a great job. As a stand-alone film, it rocked - but from an avid fan of the books, it pales in comparison. I will definitely see it again and buy it on DVD when it becomes available.

We can expect the familiar antics, and jokes from each character that you've come to know, but our trio (harry, ron and harmoine), do not really evolve as people. It's the supporting characters that shine through this time. Expect to see Malfoy, Ginny and Dumbledore in new light that balances the film giving it an overall tone of seriousness. This movie was a very transitional one in the sense that it picked you up where you left off in Order of the Pheonix and leaves you ready and contemplative for the seventh movie. It was definitely more psychologically stimulating than action packed and adventurous. Of the series, this movie had the most excellent and believable computer graphics, making the movie flow beautifully.

I absolutely enjoyed this film. This is now my favorite out of all the potter films. The film was beautifully made and well balanced, oh, and it was funny! I really liked Ron in this film… the chemistry between Ron, Harry, & Hermione was just marvelous (well, it's always been marvelous). But I mean you just see the great bond they have from all these years. When you see the Harry & Hermione scene, you'll know what I'm talking about.
The only thing I did not like was the changes to the end but I understand why they changed/took out scenes.

I have seen all of the films to date-many of them multiple times and this one as with all the previous ones did not disappoint. It dealt with difficult subjects and the trio as well as Tom Felton who plays Draco Malfoy exceeded in handling the material they were given far better than most young actors would be expected to. You could feel Draco's pain and fears as easily as you could feel Harry's anguish.

I was quite dissapointed that the production crew decided to stray from the storyline in the book by adding scenes or dimishing the magnitude of other important scenes. There were many details of importance that were left out of this movie, which impacts the story line of the final movies to come. However, if one had not read the series, this would not be apparent. The writers were clearly going for the entertainment factor, as there were many comedic lines and the young man who played Draco Malfoy added much depth to his character, something that wasn't present in previous films. Overall, it was good entertainment but it did not capture the pure magic of the books.

Well.. I was waiting for this movie from the time I saw the Order of Phoenix. I was disappointed when they said that they are postponing the date from Nov 2008 to Jul 2009. But I am satisfied after watching it. It was funny compared to all the other series. And exciting too. This was a great movie! I am a little disappointed that it seemed like that focused a bit too much on Ron and his girl trouble instead of filling in that time with the details that they left out. Overall, The half Blood Prince stays fairly true to the book. The movie does a good job of conveying the evolution of Hermione/Ron's and Harry/Ginny's relationships (rather comically at times).
However, the screenplay fails to adequately explain the decisions Dumbledore makes with regard to Snape and Snape's actions at the end of the movie.
Also, a better view of how Draco's relationship to the Death Eaters has evolved and for what reasons (perhaps not possible in 2 hrs. 33 min) would have been good for the audience to see.
The movie paints a perfect picture of Harry and Dumbldore's experience with the "horcrux".
Good job Warner Bros, I cannot wait for the next installment.

This was a very large book, with a lot of content. I think they did an admirable job of getting the story across in the short 2 1/2 hours. I would have liked this one to be split into 2 movies, in order to capture more detail, but alas, it wasn't so. This is a great movie and for those who haven't or don't read the books, they will feel a part of the Harry Potter experience. Those that do read the books will enjoy the movie, too, if they get over the fact that they cannot put every last detail of the book into the movie. This is so with ANY book that is made into a movie! Congrats to the Harry Potter production crew on another great movie!

Though it had to be atleast the second best Harry Potter Movie to date....I was disappointed that it didn't show Dumbledore's funeral, but I'm guessing maybe that is where they will start the next movie.

alot of times after harry potter movies come ou alot of people complain its not as good as the book what most people dont relize for it to even have half the information the book does it would have to be 3 and half hours long so they try and focus on the key points and switch stuff up in all honesty even though this does not follow the book to a tee it is the most exciting and suspenceful harry potters i have seen yet you laugh, you scare you sometimes even want to cry so i am going to do something i never do and give this movie 5 out of 5 stars

I went to the midnight showing for the movie and waited awhile to see it. For what it was the movie was decent. But if you haven't read the book, you won't know half of what's going on. There is entirely too much detail and back story that was left out. You can watch it as it is and get a decent show, or you can read the book then watch the movie and really enjoy it. Seemed like the movie was trying to convey that the characters are maturing rather than advance the plot.
