I really enjoyed this movie. I loved that they finally took that extra step in adding a bit of more mature humor. However, many of the people I saw this movie with were upset that they did something differently than the book or deleted something. I have news for you: it's called artistic license! If they included all the scenes from the book exactly the way they were, it would probably be a very long and boring movie. I read the books, and I found a way to enjoy this movie. I thought that the actress who played Luna Lovegood did a particularly good job, as did the actor who played Malfoy. Alan Rickman did his usual "acting" of just frowning and saying everything slowly. I'll cut him some slack though, he entertained me. Great film!

I am a huge fan of the books, but the last few movies (since 'Prisoner') have left me unsatisfied. But 'Half Blood Prince' has recaptured the magic I originally felt with the early Chris Columbus-directed movies. Even though big parts of the book have been removed, the film never feels choppy or incomplete, and both the acting and the dialogue are great. Very enjoyable!

This movie was fantastic and by far the best of them all. The movie was the closest out of them all from the book. It didn't pack as much action, but the book didn't have as much, and the parts of the movie that were action filled were intense and filmed perfectly. The movie has some hilarious comedic reliefs and the timing was dead on. The film had a much warmer looking and feel to it than the others, and helped you related to the characters more so than the others I thought. The acting was far better, and as this was by far the most confusing book, I thought the movie explained everything very well. This is a must see for everyone, whether or not you have read the books! Can't wait for Deathly Hollows!

I thought that the departure from the "darkness" of Prisoner was excellent. The evolution of the characters from pre-adolescents to hormonal late teens was a lot of fun.
I think it was a little bit too long - perhaps 15 minutes - but it was great nevertheless.
The action sequences were strong.
Downside - Malfoy's character did not have enough dialogue to expand on his conflicts.

I have read the books and still I found this movie an absolute delight! The humor portrayed in the trials of young love really will endear the characters to any audience. While the movie does in my opinion, stray farther from the book than any prior movie, as Yates used creative license to create a new scene at Weasleys, also removing the new minister of magic... the ACTION in this movie was below what I expected especially considering the absence of final fight scenes at the school. Regardless... the mix of humor arguably makes this the best Potter Movie yet!

I really enjoyed this movie, it was fun...exciting...and showed all the most important parts of the storyline. I know others will say there was too much left out, but there are so many side stories in this book, there had to be parts left out or this would have ended up another 2 parter! This movie really shows the growth of the 3 main characters, and the actors that play them. Not to mention, the effects were amazing! 2 thumbs up!!

This movie was done very well and like every movie based off a book there were some differences, but nothing so drastic where it ruins the movie. The Quidditch scenes are much improved from previous movies. This movie is worth seeing and it should set up the next two movies to be very nicely. For those of you who don't know there is 7 books and the next book is so big they had to split it up into 2 movies. So Deathly Hallows will have a Part 1 and Part 2. I can't wait. Go see this movie!

I enjoyed this movie very very much. Though I can't say how much was changed from the book, I found this Harry Potter to be far better than all the others. The drama was more intense, the laugh's funnier , and the emotion more heart felt. They even squeezed a little adult humor. This was a great movie, totally worth the $12 bucks, and the late night....you have to go see it!

This Movie has topped my fav of all the Harry Potter movies so far. David Yates did an excellent job on this movie I was very impressed with the look of the film. Some things were different from the book but that always happens and it didn't take anything away from how good the movie was. The humor in this movie was great I loved Jim Broadbent as Prof. Slughorn. His facial expressions were priceless. The romance of Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione was great and awkward at times which made it even better. All in all I thought this movie surpassed my expectation and left me in need of the last two movies very soon.

This movie just seems to be a desperate attempt to appeal to the teenage crowd of America. There is too much focus on the awkward teenage romances and not enough on the actual information that readers learn in Book 6. It seems like the creators are more interested in getting teenagers to see this movie over and over again instead of following the important storylines of the book. Many things are left out and some are even changed. Book lovers will be in shock at this. I laughed way too much in this movie that should follow the dark and terrible things happening b/c of Voldemort. Go see it, but be prepared to hate parts of it if you are a fan of the books.

I can understand if you havent read the book, you might think its a good movie. But if you read the book at least once, you should realize how far off this movie was. They left out/changed so many things. First of all, how on earth do you leave out the fight scene at the end?! AND, how do you leave out DUMBLEDORE's FUNERAL?! seriously.. they just tried to make this movie to attract a more romantic audience, Im guessing in an attempt to keep up with Twilight, but in doing so they completely got away from the meaning of the book. This book series is about Harry and Voldemort trying to kill each other, with the relationship of harryand the other characters coming second, and the love coming last, not love first.

For those who haven't watched it yet, don't get your hopes too high as I did and it will somewhat disappoint you. Overall, it was good, but not the best. The other movies were, in my opinion better, story plot wise--way better. Yet this movie carries a lot of humor that fans have yet to experience and it gave quite a different setting that was great. But for hardcore Harry Potter fans, beware---major storylines that should have been in the movie have been left out and have been replaced with somewhat useless scenes. Watch the movie, see for yourself, as you are the only judge if you like it or not. As for me, I give it a 3 out of 5.

I have been a true harry potter fan for almost 10 years. My 21 yo daughter and I went last evening and it was a specacular event. I left the movie feeling empty because I felt they skipped several great scenes...dursley's, house elves, dumbeldores funneral and the last scene with Bill Weasley (to name a few). I went home around 3am and started to re-read some of the important chapters that I think were missing. I know that not everything can be covered in a 21/2 hour movie but less teen romance would have been fine. I liked the movie but LOVED the books!!!!!

This was worth the wait and the $21 I spent on tickets for two! Funny, romantic scenes - lots of kissing, but it's mostly humorous. It gets sad, but not very dramatic - that was almost disappointing. Plenty of death eater moments, creepy Tom Riddle childhood scenes, and one scene that will make you jump out of your seat. Also, lots of quidditch. Fabulous movie, I'm so glad I saw it. 5 stars.

Very good movie, probably the best of the film series so far. However, there were some unnecessary additions. Without them there would have been time for one or two scenes that didn't make it onto the big screen.
Very funny in places, Rupert Grint was terrific, as was Dan Radcliffe when he was feeling rather lucky.

By far the funniest Potter Film. It tried really hard to be dark at times, but it came off as more of a side note. The movie focused, to a ridiculous degree, on teenage relationships. The actual story seemed compressed to make more time for Lavender to snog her Won-Won. While the whole Lavender-Ron-Hermione thing played out very well, the Harry-Ginny thing was, well pathetic. I just felt like there was a TON more chemistry between Harry and Hermione (the Canaries scene and the end) than there was between Harry and Ginny. When it comes down to it, this movie was made amazing by Ron and Hermione, they really stole the show and made what could have been an epic failure into a good movie.

Needless to say, the book is better. This film had so much comic relief in it to balance out just how progressively dark the HP series has gotten by this point.
I feel like they left out a lot and it was just sort of a bridge to lead to the final book (which apparently will be split into two films).
The characters have definitely grown and it was very enjoyable! I think the directors took the time to sort of build the complexity of other characters (mainly Draco) and I applaud them for that.
There were times where I felt they focused too much on superfluous story lines and didn't emphasize or try and build on the actual plot itself.
All in all, I was satisfied with the film and cannot wait for the Deathly Hallow. =)

Now understanding that I have a soft spot for Remus, I thought it would be hard to oust Prisoner of Az as my favorite potter film but it just might have.
The movie manages to contrast the dark themes of the book with some light-hearted romance (don't worry parents... couple of kisses, but they pan away fast from even that).
My biggest complaint is that the topic of the "half blood" prince was just barely mentioned....a quick reference after receiving the potions book and at the very end.... kind of sad b/c half the adventure in reading the book was trying to figure out whom this fellow was before the main characters.

I thought that this movie was amazing. Yes, i will say that they cut out a lot that i feel is vital for the seventh and final book, but i think they did a good job making the book real. I laughed throughout the whole movie, i was sad when Dumbledor died at the end, and i thought that the "fight" scene between Harry and Snape was done real well.
I think that the directors should have stayed a little closer to Tom Riddle flash backs becuase they really help the reader in the 7th book. Any who.. i think this movie was excellent for what is was: character development, imgaination and creativity. I didnt come out of the theater disappointed and i totally recommend it to everyone else.

I knew that inevitably they would have to cut some things out of the movie but the items that they added really didn't need to be added. I was excited to see Snape throughout the movie but I think he could definitely have been in more scenes! I was definitely disappointed with how they changed the climax of the movie as well and the fact that they didn't give you any background information on the horcruxes. Overall I thought the movie was alright but I don't encourage re-reading the book before you see the movie, otherwise you will be very disappointed.
